The quality improvement project intervention was aimed at educating nursing professional development educators about the accreditation program for registered nurse remedial education and implementing this program for remediation. It compared pre-and postintervention data for nurse educators using the nine key elements.

The aimof this quality improvement projectwas to determine whether an intervention consisting of a combined opioid and bowel medication computerized order set, as well as education, would increase initiation of a bowel regimen within 24 hours of prescribing opioids. Patient medical charts, reviewed 2 weeks before and after order set implementation and 2 weeks after focus groups were conducted, revealed that a computerized intervention can change provider behavior. Further study on whether the intervention caused a decrease in the incidence of opioidinduced constipation is also warranted. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION In the United States, prescriptions for opioid analgesia increased from 149 million in 2003 to 245 million in 2014. Opioid-induced constipation (OIC) is by far the most common side effect for patients prescribed opioids. A consensus definition of OIC is:

This designated team manages catastrophic airway events using advanced airway techniques as well as surgical intervention. Nurses respond as part of this team. There are no identified difficult airway team documentation instruments in the literature, and the lack of metrics limits the quality review of the team response. This study identified EART documentation criteria and incorporated them into a nursing documentation instrument to be completed by a nurse scribe during the event. The EART instrument was tested by nurses for usability, feasibility, and completeness. Twenty-one critical care nurses participated in this study. The results confirmed good usability, positive feasibility, and 79% documentation completeness using this tool. These criteria and this instrument can be important in documenting the EART and in evaluating the quality of the team performance.

While nurses may affirm that they care the question remains as to whether patients feel cared for. A review of the nursing literature on caring indicates that there are a number of scales to measure caring many of which emphasize the psychosocial aspects of caring. When both psychosocial and technical aspects of care were investigated, nurses and patients identified different actions and behaviors as caring. Where nurses emphasized the psychosocial aspects, patients focused on the technical components. A review of the literature on safety suggested an overlap of patient responses about caring and patient comments about safety suggests that feeling safe may be basic to caring. Methodology

We present an application of modified team coaching and plan-do-study-act improvement methods in an educational context to rapidly integrate a quality and safety curriculum across programs. We discuss applications in generalist, advanced practice, doctoral, residency, and advanced fellowship programs and provide examples of each.
