Ergonomists use in their daily routine instruments, which these professionals call analysis tools... more Ergonomists use in their daily routine instruments, which these professionals call analysis tools. Each one of them has a scientific basis and an intended use. The objective of this study was to perform a mapping of the ergonomics tools most often cited in the scientific literature, with the objective of detailing and differentiating the main characteristics. After performing an RBS with the key words that indicate tool use and ergonomic risk assessment, 82 tools were mapped, from which the authors of this article selected the 10 most cited and performed an investigation of their main characteristics and functionalities. We then concluded that each of these tools has its intended use, and the overlapping of tools indicates a lack of effectiveness. Further, we still observed the great influence of analysts (human-dependence) over non-technology tools, thus the use of technology is not yet fully applied to the work reality in a broad way.

Studies of the physical characteristics of man and their dimensional variations have interested r... more Studies of the physical characteristics of man and their dimensional variations have interested researchers since antiquity. In relating to the human head, the measures that are analyzed to make your sizing artifacts that protect her from possible accidents, are tied just as its circumference. In the military area, studies report that approximately half of the deaths in the battle fields is due to projectiles triggered in the soldier's head. However, other studies show that this artifact after a few minutes in continuous use, it becomes heavy and unstable for many users. Ie, proves itself that some soldiers do not wear a helmet when necessary is because it bothers them. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to research the height of the human head, in area the ballistic helmet , to verify whether this is significant or not height variation. Thus, it can be highlighted the need for a new ballistic helmet design to serve this dimensional variation of the height of the human head. For it is made a pilot survey and analyzed the anthropometric measurements of the human head using conventional instruments. Next analyzed the values and found that the means are different, proving that if the artifact of study is not adequate for use on the battlefield for all users.

This is the view of the anthropometry which is the measurement science and art of human knowledge of geometry, so it can be defined as the part of anthropology that studies the proportions and measurements of the human body. To defining a new measure anthropometric a statistical study is required with the correct number of samples for the experiment, definitions of the standard deviation and its variance, identification and comparison of means between groups, as the size for example, among other studies as design of the experiment. A cor é um elemento que transmite informações, no entanto, milhares de pessoas no mundo não têm a... more A cor é um elemento que transmite informações, no entanto, milhares de pessoas no mundo não têm acesso a ela. Apresentam-se as etapas do desenvolvimento de uma linguagem tátil de cores, com o objetivo de possibilitar a identificação das cores pelas pessoas com deficiência visual. Esta abordagem é composta de elementos em formato tridimensional, com dimensões mínimas, inspirado no elemento principal do Sistema Braille, o ponto. Os códigos foram produzidos e experimentados em duas técnicas distintas: da Manufatura Aditiva (em PLA, ABS e resina acrílica) e na impressão em fusora. Os códigos das oito cores desenvolvidas foram testados em três tamanhos diferentes de acordo com especificações da NBR 9050. A Linguagem Tátil das Cores See Color foi testada com dezoito participantes e os resultados mostraram que as cores foram identificadas em um tempo médio de 18,5 segundos e com uma média de 82,86% de acertos.

There are annual inclusive fashion parades in Brazil, these encourage designers and student desig... more There are annual inclusive fashion parades in Brazil, these encourage designers and student designers to develop collections with features that promote the accessibility, autonomy and high self-esteem of people with disabilities. The authors believe that participants face difficulties in developing these collections. The literature does not present methods that aid in this development. Through the application of questionnaires with 26 participants this research investigates if the fashion designers of these parades have difficulties in the development of inclusive and functional fashion; and asks if they believe that co-creation would be favorable in the development process of these products. It has been found that among the bigger difficulties of the designers are: the data collection with the users regarding accessibility and how to dress, the selection of trims, and the development of the patterns. The use of co-creation in a method that aid the development of functional fashion products was considered favorable for 88% of respondents.

O presente trabalho, ocupa-se de uma análise por Termografia, para verificação dos pontos de pres... more O presente trabalho, ocupa-se de uma análise por Termografia, para verificação dos pontos de pressão de paciente que se encontra acamado e praticamente sem movimentos, tais pontos de contato, futuramente, podem transformar-se em escaras. O objetivo deste estudo é a observação de pontos quentes (hotspots) em paciente com esclerose múltipla, por meio de imagens termográficas (termogramas), que, com as análises medindo calor, relatam a preexistência de inflamação. Pela investigação precoce do paciente acamado é possível identificar, evitando em tempo, o aparecimento de úlceras de pressão, também chamadas de escaras. Como metodologia foi realizada uma análise para verificação de pontos de pressão por Termografia e um questionamento junto ao paciente e seu cuidador, sobre seus pontos de maior incômodo. The inclusion processes of people with disabilities in industrial production lines are being carr... more The inclusion processes of people with disabilities in industrial production lines are being carried out. Thereby, getting to know the current workstations is important for planning, designing and developing new assistive technology products. Thus, this paper presents an analysis study of industrial manufacturing workstations based on the perception of workers without disabilities. For this, it relies on a survey with a questionnaire given to 222 workers from different processing industries. Analyzes are presented and interpreted in sets. It establishes that the inclusion processes are happening, but still in a superficial way. There is an inclusion gap directly related to the needs for modification and, in reality, favoring the inclusion of workers with milder disabilities.

To do so, the researchers use many tools like: questionnaires, interviews, self-report, eye tracking, facial expressions and physiological responses. However, researchers with low purchasing power suffer with the high costs of data collection instruments. The aim of this work consist in the development of a low cost physiological data collection tool with a reasonable and open level of precision, allowing the improvement of the tool. We describe the software and hardware development process as well as the process of data collection and analysis. As a preliminary test of the tool, we collected the data of 4 people playing a game called “Limbo”. The data shows the limitations of the tool and the possibilities of use.

A alta competitividade e a busca por novas tecnologias, que diferenciem os produtos industriais, indicam um ambiente propicio para essa utilizacao como fator de inovacao. Na area militar, sabe-se que no campo de batalha muitos soldados nao usam constantemente o capacete balistico devido ao seu desconforto. Atualmente, estudos relatam que aproximadamente a metade das mortes nos campos de batalhas e devido a projeteis deflagrados na cabeca do soldado. No entanto, outros estudos mostram que este artefato apos poucos minutos, em uso continuo, torna-se pesado e instavel para os usuarios. Ou seja, comprova-se que se alguns soldados nao usam o capacete quando necessario e porque o mesmo incomoda. E neste ponto que esta o objetivo deste trabalho. For blind learners, attention is required on how to transpose visual information to alternative sensory channels, without cognition overload. Thus, considering that blind people use auditory and tactile sense as alternatives to the visual channel, this article seeks to discuss blind people learning, from the perspective of Information Design and the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (CTML). Therefore, it is firstly sought to comprehend the Dual-Coding Theory and the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning and, then, reflect on an adaptation of CTML to a blind context. Furthermore, it brings three examples of accessible materials to corroborate with the theoretical assumptions presented.

Com o objetivo de pautar um debate acerca do papel do design frente ao desenvolvimento de solucoe... more Com o objetivo de pautar um debate acerca do papel do design frente ao desenvolvimento de solucoes projetuais para pessoas com deficiencia de maneira inclusiva e consciente, apresenta-se neste artigo a influencia do Disability Studies para a discussao acerca das pessoas com deficiencia e seus dois principais modelos conceituais: o modelo social e o modelo individual. A partir do delineamento desses dois modelos, traca-se um paralelo de ambos com abordagens de design que tendem para um dos dois lados. No escopo do modelo social inserem-se, pela area do design, a usabilidade, o design universal, o design for all , o design inclusivo e a cocriacao; e no caso do modelo individual inserem-se a customizacao, o design for one e o proprio desenvolvimento de recursos assistivos. Ao final, defende-se uma abordagem de desenvolvimento de produtos baseada no modelo social da deficiencia, apontando possibilidades e beneficios dessa abordagem.

Assim, pesquisas que busquem a experiência dos envolvidos para entender modos de realizar este processo de inclusão tornam-se relevantes. Este artigo apresenta o desenvolvimento de uma pesquisa que visa identificar a percepção de trabalhadores de produção industrial sem deficiência sobre como estão adequados os postos de trabalho industriais para a inclusão de pessoas com deficiência. Para isso, se apoia numa pesquisa exploratória de abordagem qualitativa com aplicação de entrevistas semiestruturadas. A partir dos dados coletados, verificou-se que os trabalhadores entendem que os postos não estão adequados, assim como existem várias dificuldades de incluir estas pessoas. Clothes available in the majority of fashion stores are not designed to meet the needs of people ... more Clothes available in the majority of fashion stores are not designed to meet the needs of people with severe physical disabilities. Some companies offer either the service of clothes customization or inclusive clothes to that public. This research was conducted through a case study of a patient with multiple sclerosis to collect qualitative and anthropometric requirements. The data analysis made possible to adapt a pajama to this patient. The study provides evidences on the need for changes in the patterns dimension, so that the user can wear it ergonomically; in the fabric selection to provide thermal comfort to the user; and in the trims selection to confer autonomy in the process of getting dressed.

O objetivo do artigo e classificar cinco ensaios de usabilidade, realizados por Silva (2012), a partir dos seguintes temas: percepcao da forma, estimulos perceptivos, reconhecimento do objeto e processamento do objeto. Entao, foram utilizadas tabelas para sintetizar e relacionar os temas com os ensaios.

Este artigo apresenta uma revisao de literatura sobre o contexto projetual que promove a acessibi... more Este artigo apresenta uma revisao de literatura sobre o contexto projetual que promove a acessibilidade no ambiente construido, com enfase na inclusao da pessoa com mobilidade reduzida ao sistema de transporte publico. O estudo centrou-se no equipamento urbano denominado de plataforma-elevatoria, utilizada na estacao-tubo (plataforma de embarque e desembarque de passageiros), da cidade de Curitiba -PR. A revisao da literatura incluiu Normas Tecnicas Nacionais, Guias e Recomendacoes Internacionais e introduz o Design Inclusivo, como estrategia projetual para a acessibilidade e a inclusao social. Ao final desta revisao foram feitas consideracoes relevantes sobre a avaliacao da acessibilidade da plataforma-elevatoria, a partir do contexto projetual.

This research aims to apply a formative assessment in a LED luminaire functional model according ... more This research aims to apply a formative assessment in a LED luminaire functional model according to Maguire [4]. The evaluation process was applied in Ergonomics and Usability Laboratory at UFPR (LabErg) and was divided into two initial phases: the first phase is an evaluation with 5 experts regarding the model; evaluating the heuristics and infringed ergonomic criteria. The second phase is related to the illumination assessment in the simulation environment (living room). The analysis of the procedure has to identify and describe the positive and negative features of the model evaluation with users regarding ergonomics and usability as well as recommendations to qualify the product in development. The information obtained from the study show two main difficulties in the process: the first is the difficulty in conducting research with objectivity of the data, without involving preferences; the second refers to the technique choosing for product evaluation, in which an arrangement of methods is required to allow a thorough evaluation of the real context due to the use of a working model in this research.

Intuition is an important variable in this interface, because an intuitive product is also a product easy to be used and understood by the user. This study conducted an investigation about the intuitive use of a differentiated household product - cheese grater- according to the methodology proposed by Silva and Okimoto (2011). It demonstrates that such tests are an important usability tool to understand the user interaction with new products.
