The entrepreneurship activity has the potential to respond to the challenges of an environment in a continuous change and ensures both local and regional development. The aims of our paper are to present in short the impact of the economic and financial crisis on the Romanian enterprises and to analyse its effects at the regional development level. A set of two hypotheses were tested and validated during our research by using the information provided by the National Trade Register Office. Our research shows, through the analysis of statistical data, a decrease of the interest for the entrepreneurial development and a dramatic fall in number of companies over the years 2008-2010, as a result of the economic crisis.

In the present context, with food security a priority of European and national policies, an analysis of pig farming in a representative NUTS2 administrative level of Romania that emphasizes the proportion of households raising at least one pig and the main factors influencing farmers to adopt or give up swine breeding could allow a much clearer understanding of this phenomenon that lies at the border between cultural tradition and socio-economic necessity. This study uses mixed methods that complement each another to help reveal this complex phenomenon in the analyzed territory. Cluster analysis shows the concentration of swine breeding and maps its spread in terms of both subsistence and larger farms, and qualitative interviews prove the motivation of farmers to continue in this occupation. As a primary result, the study visualizes the spatial distribution of pig farming in the rural environment of Vâlcea county, Romani...

The aim was to identify specific quantitative patterns which define the key characteristics of the three different painting schools. Our novel approach using the artificial surface images generated with Inverse FFT and the Midpoint Displacement (MD) algorithms, was validated by comparison of results with eight fractal and non-fractal indices. From the analyzes performed, normalized Kolmogorov compression complexity (KC) proved to be the best solution because it had the best complexity pattern differentiations, is not sensitive to the image size and the least affected by noise. We conclude that normalized KC methodology does offer capability to differentiate the icons within a School and amongst the three Schools.

Thyroid cancer (according to international classification, C73-C75-malignant tumors of the thyroid and other endocrine glands), is a category with a high degree of spatial concentration, the investigation of the spatial dimension of the distribution is an essential condition in understanding the patterns of manifestation of the determinants. This study is based on data on oncology prevalence and mortality provided by the Ministry of Health, organized at the level of cancer type according to the distribution at the territorial administrative unit level. Spatial analyzes and spatial distribution were made for 2008-2017 for prevalence and 2008-2016 for mortality. Depending on this database, GIS and statistical methods and techniques are applied. The results obtained show the concentration of cases in well-defined geographic areas, which require multidisciplinary research to determine the causes that determine the development of thyroid cancer.

The aim of the paper is to identify and analyze five teleworking impact factors that affect thewellbeing and productivity of employees. The data were gathered by a quantitative research method through a questionnaire applied to 327 Romanian employees who hold a Bachelor or Master degree. Firstly, they were analyzed and interpreted through a factorial analysis focusing on the five teleworking impact factors. Secondly, the authors carried on cluster analysis, followed by multiple linear regression, using R statistical software. This study shows that there is a plethora of factors that influence the wellbeing and productivity of employees: individual and societal factors, organizational and work-related factors, technological factors, social factors at home, and social facto...

Design/methodology/approach-Using the literature review, the study examined the conceptual framework of the notions of strategy, business strategy, and creativity. Also, it analysed the relationship between business strategy and creativity. Findings-The results confirm previous studies related to the beneficial impact of creativity on the business strategy of a company. As creativity has become an important input for a successful business strategy, companies are making significant efforts in order to bring creativity into play. Practical implications/originality/value-Business strategy and creativity are two interconnected concepts not only in theory, but also in practice. Also, creativity represents a fundamental asset of a successful company in turbulent times.

The aims of our paper are to present the theoretical approach about the concept of patients ’ satisfaction and to analyze the results of a research concerning the satisfaction of the Romanian patients regarding health care ser-vices. To such ends, we tested seven assump-tions through a quantitative research based on a national survey done on health care beneficia-ries (1076). The data gathered was processed through the SPSS software. The findings of our research show that pa-tients ’ satisfaction is influenced by the level of trustfulness of the medical staff, physicians and nurses ’ professionalism, and the time spent waiting at the emergency units. A distinctive el-ement in the equation of the Romanian patients’ satisfaction is given by the corruption existing in the health care system. The findings of the study indicate clear directions in...

The rendered impulse-response functions, that help us in revealing the capacity of the model variables to return to their steady state under the impact of a structural shock, be it technology or monetary policy oriented, give points to the neutrality of the monetary entity decisions, therefore confirming the well-known classical dichotomy existing between the nominal and the real factors of the economy.

Our data covers 13 years, and refer to the incidence of nosocomial infections for each of the 42 Romanian administrative units every year. A preliminary cluster analysis reveals that there is heterogeneity across counties both in terms of average, and variability of nosocomial infections incidence. The heterogeneity can be explained to an important degree by the local level of healthcare infrastructure, urbanization rate and economic development. Supporting programs and clear standards for quality assurance must accompany the investment in health infrastructure, and the development of new out – care units should be prioritized

The paper aims to present and analyze the relationship between business experience (BE) and EI in the case of final-year university students, specialized in business administration and marketing, resorting to this end to a standardized questionnaire, developed by the authors and finalized following a pilot survey. The hypotheses considered, centered on the study of the existence of any contingency or correlational relationship between the BE of students, and their EI, based on related coefficients applicable in such case, have been confirmed, in line with similar studies. Theoretically, this paper contributes to the enrichment of the literature on students’ EI in higher education institutions (HEIs). Practically, students’ EI can be stimulated and encouraged by a deeper involvement of HEIs in entrepreneurship educatio...

Design/methodology/approach – In the first section there is a theoretical approach of some aspects of societal change processes and seven trends which indicate the change processes within the working environment. From the same point of view, there are also mentioned different types of entrepreneurial activities. The paper ends with a case study which is dealing with the study of the potential to create social enterprises to support rural communities in Bistrita Nasaud. Findings – The data provides an array of social problems that are facing the people of this region: the lack of jobs, of qualifications required by the market, poverty, social exclusion of vulnerable groups. Practical implications/originality/value – The presentation of a case study specific to social entrepreneurship within a larger theoretical framework triggers a complex approach in compliance with th...
