Prof. Marklen E. Konurbaev at Moscow State University 7(985) 222-14-45 | 1188067@gmail.com Research area: cognitive linguistics, cultural studies, intercultural communication, phenomenology of speechMy research is focused on the analysis of deep phenomenological structures in intercultural communication. It covers vast areas of communication including politics, religion, culture, social groups trends, and academic communication. Starting premiseLogic, it seems, is no longer of a greater value in speech than a broader cognitive vision – a phenomenon in the minds of speech agents in the 21st century. Modern people tend to disregard linearity for the sake of spatiality in content comprehension – even in the sensitive processes of business decision making. In normal interpersonal communication people have little or no time for the logical analysis of the speech addressed to them. In the modern world, where the speed of interaction is of crucial significance, people and agencies often prefer oral communication to the written one. This imposes a lot of limitations on how speech is being perceived, analyzed, interpreted and then used for decision-making.Human reaction to a speech under these circumstances is almost entirely based on intuition, general sense of the speaker’s intention and cognitive stereotypes. These are based on the speech agents’ up-bringing, cultural background, education, general worldview and many other factors.I assume that, normally, logical analysis during ordinary communication is preceded by the phenomenological perception of speech. These reactions by the people need to be specially studied, systematized and pragmatically adapted for various communication purposes. Indeed, before somebody subjects human speech to structuring and logical estimation, he or she would be forced to follow immediate brain reactions producing senses, tones, visions that are further used by a speech agent for decision-making.The Subject of the ResearchIn my research and analysis I focus on the mechanisms of this cognitive communicative immediacy – its rules, limitations, dark areas and predictability that may avert critical points in human communication in the areas of politics, social interaction and religion. Communicative predictability is based on the identified dynamic phenomenological patterns in various social groups. That’s the practical value of my research.MethodologyMy studies rest predominantly on the methodology of cognitive science and the phenomenology of speech. Mathematical modelling helps to adapt the results of the research for immediate use by the public. Big data analysis, estimation of the micro neural signals and cognitive reactions help to observe trends and predict reactions in a vast area of human interaction. Such tendencies will include subtle reactions to speech including phonetic, human voice, intonation, syntax, lexical connotations and broader cultural concepts that have associations rooted in the human culture, traditions and behavioral patterns.Practical significanceThe results of this phenomenological study are of use for developing political technologies, social behavior modelling, religious groups’ monitoring and partially for the new area of the research in the sphere of deep learning.Based on the exploration of the subtle cognitive processes in a fast-moving human communication, we might find and establish algorithms of behavior, perception and reaction to unpredictable, illogical, spontaneous reactions. These algorithms could be used for machine learning, developing advanced models on machine–human communication.Commercial and investment projectsIt is my regular practice to monitor press and media for market demands for various language-related services. Whenever opportunity arises, I launch commercial or investment projects to raise funds for my further research and experiments. Among my most successful projects that have been active for over a decade are various translation and interpreting research and web-application development that are based on my cultural and linguistic studies. A CAT-Tool (computer-assisted translation) has been developed for a top translation company and is being effectively used by the business to improve quality and speed of translation. I also initiated and am currently completing the interpreter-skill rating and market valuation platform. Other commercial projects include: new web platform development that would be used as a single gateway for university and college students to get their first employment through specially targeted crowdsourcing projects

International Journal of Arabic-English Studies

Unlike previous linguopoetic studies, the authors offer a comparative analysis of emotional-expressive connotations in “The Prophet” by K. Gibran with the core Sufi imagery (in translations from Arabic and Persian) analysing different types of emotions through specific lexical units transferring an emotional state. For the purposes of the data analysis, it was suggested to expand the traditional Ekman’s classification of the most common types of emotions. Thus, in this paper, various shades of basic positive emotion types were considered. The study shows new prospects for future research and concludes with linguistic implications for translators and comparativists.

The subject of the study is the syntactic structure of different types of contemporary media texts. The purpose of the research is to broaden the ways of the discourse analysis with the help of cognitive science. The relevance of the topic of the present paper is determined by the rapid development of studies in the sphere of cognitive linguistics and the need to apply the latest approaches to the analysis of the syntactic structure of speech. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the authors single out modern trends in syntactic analysis of speech construction on the example of contemporary media texts and give an outlook on further significant developments in the sphere, discussing the issue of developing and optimizing telescopic texts for the purposes of modern science, management, education and other essential spheres of life. Within the framework of the present study, the authors used the methods of system analysis, analysis of statistical data, official documents and works of the consummate professionals in the sphere of the cognitive science. Based on the results of the research, it was revealed that modern technologies give marvellous opportunities to create a specific digital data format of various texts, associated development and display tools. The authors concluded that the "telescopic text" is now becoming a way for effective digital communication and information exchange.

The object of the research is spontaneous speech with its characteristic features, which can become an obstacle to successful communication. The subject of the research is simultaneous interpretation of spontaneous speech at different levels of understanding the original. Сompression as a technique of comparative cognitive transformation is applied for the first time to interpreting oral speech. It allows us to examine in detail how the sense of the source message is formed in the flow of spontaneous speech and perceived by the recipient within the model of comparative cognitive transformation developed by the authors. Interpretation can be performed at different levels of understanding the original through the concept of three circles of understanding proposed in the article.

A wide range of issues was raised during the conference. The conference participants — specialists in linguistics, psychology, philology, cultural studies, anthropology, cognitive science, and history — shared their language changes observations. Over the past 50 years, humanity has gone from a global economic boom to a complete break in social groups and entire peoples’ relations, from globalization to regionalization, from world unity to the separation of peoples and cultures. The global coronavirus epidemic has changed the nature of human communication. The desire to expand its horizons remains, and of the available means of knowing the world of people, humanity has very little left — virtual communication channels. And the main thing is that instead of a “fulllength person”, the communication participants r...

Four motivational factors were assessed: the child's motivational attributions, motivational goal orientation, self-perception, and mastery-oriented behaviors in the classroom. Mastery-oriented behaviors include being goal-oriented, being able to work independently, seeking out challenging tasks, and participating as an active agent in the learning process. Results of parent, teacher, and child measures indicated that intrinsically goal-oriented children tended to have high academic self-concepts, exhibited high levels of mastery behaviors in the classroom, and scored well on school achievement tests. Achievement levels were found to be a joint result of ability and motivation, and mastery behaviors in the classroom were the link between intrinsic goal orientation and achievement, and between self-concept in the classroom and achievement. The behavioral measure of children's mastery was the most important indicator of achievement. When judgments of the children's abilities were taken from classroom teachers and from parents, it was found that teachers views were more highly associated with achievement levels. Recommendations for teachers based on the study results include allowing students to have choices between equally challenging tasks, and minimizing external rewards as motivators for achievement. Understanding is a process. Why then do we still represent the verbal reality in our interpretation as ‘items in display’, as exhibits that have long been dead and are expected to be perceived as valuable impact phenomena? A word in speech may realize its potential only when it is ‘resolved’ by the immediate, broader or external environment, a context. This resolution lies at the basis of speech dialectics in which the immediately obvious, semantically valid interpretation is opposed to the scope of connotations that an element of speech has when put in the broader context of communication. This dialectic is a ‘tug-of-war’ where nothing reaches stability in the eyes of a speech recipient until the balance between the forward-looking (cataphoric) and the backward-looking (anaphoric) forces of the context is fully accomplished.

Civilizations developed or deteriorated largely based on their interpretation of this all-important notion. Generations of people grew being led by the phenomenon of ‘life’ that was rooted in people’s language and culture. And even today, we can say that some communities are culturally more advanced than others based on the level of their communicative culture and linguistic development. This chapter explores how the expression of people’s views in various forms of speech and their communicative culture become part and parcel of human existence without which neither development nor existence itself is possible.

It is always an interplay of fact and exaggeration, fact and attitude, information and fiction. Journalistic timbres are rather numerous and vary in four dimensions: science, information, everyday speech, fiction. Timbre makes this inclination of a journalistic text in one of these dimensions rather clearly felt. A comparative timbre analysis of stories from The Economist, The Times, Financial Times, The New Yorker and other quality press instruct the reader about the connotative lacunas that make the position of the journalists rather obviously felt through the uniformity of linguistic instruments that create the recognizable intellective print of the writer.
