Particular attention is paid to certain aspects of “postradical” or “differentiating” feminisms which are compatible with a biblical world view.

In particular, they argue that certain behavioral tendencies distinguishing men from women are reflective of different male and female reproductive strategies which evolved during the early history of the human race. In this article, evolutionary psychology's claims to be a rigorous science are questioned, with particular reference to its conclusions about gender relations. In addition, evolutionary psychology as a metaphysical world view is contrasted with the biblical creation account, which calls for gender co-operation, not competition, and which does not see pair-bonding as a reductionistic strategy for getting individuals' genes copied in the next generation.

Let me explain some principles I have taken, mostly from the broadly Reformed theological tradition, about the appropriate use of Scripture as a whole, in the context of which I will try to show-in a selective fashion-how such principles get worked out in the writing and teaching I do, especially in gender studies.1

The nuclear family of much nostalgic conservative Christian rhetoric is a product of the industrial revolution making the father the absent bread winner. The family farm model where both parents shared parenting and providing roles is a better model for work patterns that enable boys and girls to relate to good role models of both genders in their childhood.

The time has come to move beyond the nature-nurture debate and address the larger question of how Christians can rise above the sexual chaos of our age through sexual discipline and protection of the vulnerable.

The ecological model (pertaining particularly to non-westernized, subsistence-economy groups) is seen as the most parsimonious of the three models put forth, as it includes the other two models within

The first two books are historical treatments of the history and place of eunuchs in the early Western and Eastern churches. The next two are critiques of brain organization theory (BOT), which leans towards biological essentialism in its understanding of the origin of gendered traits. The final two support a more social-constructionist view of gendered personality traits. Both theories do acknowledge the interaction of biological and social forces, though in differing degrees. However, the review criticizes BOT for being the more unacceptably reductionistic in this regard.
