S. companies by implementing the event study methodology. The effects are asymmetric across these companies as they are heterogenous in terms of industry classifications. The effects are also conditional upon the fraud and coming-out-clean perceptions about them. Additionally, the effects are dependent on the demand prospects for their products and services.

We further list the types of sensors, technical issues, and different software and hardware technologies that are currently used in rehabilitation systems to make the whole process dynamic and real-time. The review focused on 36 consolidated studies that were found using the following keywords: rehabilitation system, sensor, and computer. The electronic databases PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar were searched for relevant articles that were published from 2007 through 2012. These published articles included discussion of several biosensors, automated rehabilitation systems, and the application of these systems in the affected body parts of the individuals. We found that 54 types of biosensors have been used for real-time and computer-assisted rehabilitation systems. The findings suggest that there are still some body parts (such as the muscle tendons area and abdomen) and application areas (e.g., post-and pre-pregnancy) that have not yet been targeted by biosensor-supported medical rehabilitation systems aided by suitable hardware, software, and other assistive technologies.

Most countries often finance such project by incurring public debt and such countries must pay interest every year on public debt until the entire accumulated amount is fully paid. However, interest-based financing is not only prohibited (haram) but it also drains billions of dollars to foreign creditors every year from most of the countries that have accumulated interestbased debts over the years. This paper attempts to explore how building a most modern Airport can be financed by pursuing Istisna-Sukuk based expansionary monetary policy (MP). Central Bank (CB) can buy and sell such Sukuk in open market as tools of monetary policy. Sukuk are interest-free modes of financing. They are issued against assets, such as, the Airport, and their holders are the true owners of the Airport who derive their income from this asset instead of coupon or interest rates. Istisna-Sukuk based expan...

The heterogeneous panel data set consists of 23,532 (N= 1961*T= 15) observations. Pedroni’s panel co-integration, panel vector errorcorrection model (PVECM), panel dynamic OLS (PDOLS), and panel generalized method of moments (PGMM) are implemented. Both asset utilization and market competition have short-run and long-run positive effects on stock returns. But the effects of market distance are negative. The evidence for convergence toward the long-run equilibrium is very weak. Firms should be strategic to improve asset utilization, be more competitive and expand market distance to maximize stockholders’ wealth.

Thetime series data in percentage changes are found stationary. As a result, multivariateVAR in first-difference is implemented since the objective is to investigate the effectsof changes in causal variables on changes in individual selected casino stockreturns. The estimates depict weakly positive and somewhat mixed causal influencesof changes in unemployment rates on changes in casino stock returns. In the caseof the changes in S&P 500, the results are uniformly positive and relatively strong. In other words, the latter unleash stronger influence than the former on changes incasino stock returns with mixed net short-run interactive feedback effects.

Stock prices are significantly influenced by operating performance of a company in efficiently utilizing its assets. For that matter, operating efficiency (as measured by total asset turnover ratio) plays a role in portfolio investment decisions. Pedroni’s heterogeneous panel co-integration procedures, associated bivariate error-correction model (ECM), dynamic ordinary least squares (DOLS) and generalized method of moments (GMM) are applied. Both stock returns and total asset turnover ratios in levels are nonstationary with I (1) behavior. Subsequently, both variables are found cointegrated. The panel ECM estimates suggest convergence of variables toward long-run equilibrium at moderate pace with short-run interactive positive feedback effects. Again, both DOLS and GMM estimates reveal short-run contemporaneo...

Stock market turnover contributes more to stock market returns than stock market liquidity in both selected developed and developing economies. However, the results are much weaker for developing countries than for developed countries.

The full set of equations of motion for the problem in cylindrical polar coordinates is derived. This is followed by a review of the current knowledge on analytical theories and numerical treatments of nonlinear diffraction of water waves by offshore cylindrical structures. A brief discussion is made on water waves incident on a circular harbor with a narrow gap. Special emphasis is given to the resonance phenomenon associated with this problem. A new theoretical analysis is also presented to estimate the wave forces on large conical structures. Second-order (nonlinear) effects are included in the calculation of the wave forces on the conical structures. A list of important references is also given.

A nonlinear modification of the classical Morison equation,D≡Fℓ+FDfor estimating wave forces on offshore structures is suggested in this paper. The modified equation is found in the formD≡Fℓ+Fnℓ+FDwhereFnℓ≡Fd+Fw+Fqis the nonlinear contribution made up of the dynamic, waterline, and the quadratic forces associated with the irrotational-flow part of the wave loading on structures. The study has then been applied to calculate the linear and the nonlinear wave loadings on a large vertical cylinder partially immersed in an ocean of arbitrary uniform depth. All the linear and nonlinear forces exerting on the cylinder are determined explicitly. A comparison is made between these two kinds of forces. Special attention is given to the nonlinear wave loadings on the cylinder. It is shown that all nonlinear effects come from the interaction between the body's resp...

Research paper thumbnail of A Framework for the Development of Measurement and Quality Assurance in Software-Based Medical Rehabilitation Systems

In this digitized age, computerized and robotic rehabilitation systems act as a vital support for disabled individuals. Till today, different types of software for medical rehabilitation systems have been developed and applied to the rehabilitation process successfully, but improvement in quality and measurement of rehabilitation software is continuously in progress. Some ways of the software production have been established but further measurement process has always been a necessity. This paper presents the framework and recommends establishment of software quality measurement in computer-and robot-assisted automated medical rehabilitation system. Also, a brief discussion of rehabilitation technique and their software quality is also included. Lastly, we include its importance in medical technology and quality. To satisfy the end user, vendor satisfaction, software measurement and quality assurance are important components in software-based medical rehabilitation systemsy.
