The development of ballistic missiles, more effective cruise missiles, and increased sensor capab... more The development of ballistic missiles, more effective cruise missiles, and increased sensor capabilities imply both new capabilities and challenges in a future operational environment. One effect this has is that the time from detection of a threat, to being able to respond, and to act on it will be significantly reduced. This article illuminates some current and future threats that are emerging and will be part of an increasingly complex battle space. The purpose of the research is to test and evaluate different C2 solutions for future ISR. The benefit of the proposed research is that it can provide design propositions for future ISR systems and its C2 function. In addition, the research may support design and acquisition of future automated systems and AI. Framing a conceivable development of a future battlefield and its character is important to obtain sufficient realism under the conditions that the proposed experimental series is intended to test. For the experimental series, t...

Developed models were validated with in-situ new production and f ratio values from cruise dataset collected during September 2014. The regression between derived and bottle measured Pnew value showed R 2 =0.553, SEE=±51.632, MNB=-0.414 and RMSE=±266.398. Similarly f ratio is validated with in-situ derived value showed the clear underestimation with a R 2 =0.537, SEE=±0.016, MNB=-0.560 and RMSE=±0.182. The seasonal and inter-annual variation of primary production, f ratio and new production showed the clear seasonal pattern between the seasons. The high (133.64 mgCm-2 d-1) and low (31.69 mgCm-2 d-1) new production ranges are observed during premonsoon and summer seasons. The integrated primary production and f ratio of all the seasons provides a significant R 2 =0.585. This is used to estimate the total annual primary production of Bay of Bengal as ~11%. The minimum (0.028 GTCyr-1) and maximum (0.037GTCyr-1) annual new production observed for the years of 2014 and 2006. In the entire processes of primary production, new production rate was less and it indicates Bay of Bengal largely as the regeneration based basin than the new production.

One example of such threats is missiles that can achieve speeds of Mach 5 and above. To handle this type of threat alone, it implies at least two things. First, that a suitable operational picture is provided that take account for future long distance threats. Second, it is likely that it will be even more important to be able to collect, filter, process and understand relevant data to make priorities and make proper decisions under short time conditions. Third, when considering threats by cyberwarfare, these threats can be considered as conducted in the speed of light. This, in summary, will probably suppose an efficient and dynamic command and control (C2) of available and different types of sensors, from directly controlled to sensors guided by artificial intelligence (AI), on a future battlefield. In this paper, we propose an experimental study to investigate from which levels of s...

Consequently, high-level management has become concerned with efficient utilization of computer recourses to support their work. The Nature of Complex Dynamic Processes and Operations can be characterized as high-risk activities, where human and artificial team members together perform a task, which exacts extreme mobility, efficiency, agility and endurance, and where small actions or decisions may have serious and irreversible consequences for the mission as a whole. In military operations mission performance relies increasingly on distributed systems (with many team-players, widely separated, forced to co-ordinate with one another) to attain high safety and effectiveness without risking excessive resource depletion. High-capacity Command and Control support is needed to facilitate omnidirectional, continuous information flows from the chief executive...

The aim of the report is to map and analyze scientific contributions in the domain published in the period 2005-2011. The report reviews the most important journal articles in the domain focusing on command and control centres, including the military domain, emergency and crisis management, traffic control for air and railway transport systems, as well as process control (for instance nuclear power plants). The report also focuses on the different research areas that are central to command and control centres such as situation awareness, teamwork, distributed decision making, computer supported collaborative work, and decision-support systems. The report summarizes the development in the domain, as well as identifies current research trends. The report also contains a compilation of abstracts from the referred journal articles.
