Several additional categories of industries have been incorporated in the update. Information on these firms was obtained from the Virgif}ia Division of Forestry's files, additional surveys, and other available sources. The preliminary listings were reviewed and corrected by the Virginia Division of Forestry's staff in each county prior to finalization for publication. The explanation of the directory on pages iv and v has been used as it was written in the original directory with slight modifications to accommodate the expansions. The concepts, layout, and computer program used in the original publication were also used for this update. The update incorporates the changes in the industry that have occurred since 1969. It identifies the location of the firm, type of industry by classification, method by which the timber is purchased, annual productions, species purchased, and products sold.

Ho... more The prefrontal cortex (PFC) is known to make fundamental contributions to executive functions. However, the precise nature of these contributions is incompletely understood. We focused on a specific executive function, inhibition, the ability to suppress a pre-potent response. Functional imaging and animal studies have studied inhibition. However, there are only few lesion studies, typically reporting discrepant findings. For the first time, we conducted cognitive and neuroimaging investigations on patients with focal unilateral PFC lesions across two widely used inhibitory tasks requiring a verbal response: The Hayling Part 2 and Stroop Colour-Word Tests. We systematically explored the relationship between inhibition, fluid intelligence and lesion location using voxel-based lesion symptom mapping (VLSM). We found that PFC patients were significantly impaired compared with healthy comparison group (HC) on both suppression measures of the Hayling and on the Stroop, even when performa...

In recent years, more and more people have become members of virtual online worlds through the pr... more In recent years, more and more people have become members of virtual online worlds through the promulgation of massively multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPGs). As of December 28 th , 2008, World of Warcraft, a popular MMORPG, reached 11.5 million players-a figure that would make the fictional world of Azeroth more populated than Cuba. 3 It is possible that by 2011, four out of every five people who use the Internet will work or play in a virtual world. 4 With so many players investing time and money into these online games, legal issues have begun to arise that draw close parallels between game rules and real world laws. Issues such as individual rights and character rights as designated by in-game End User License Agreements (EULAs), ownership of in-game property, gold farming and child labour, and criminal prosecution and jurisdiction for in-game crimes. This paper critically examines the close proximity of in-game legal issues to legal issues faced in the real world, and argues that as more people begin to adopt these technologies, the lines between virtual and real will become increasingly more difficult to discern. Blurring Identities and Citizenship Insomuch as one expects representational powers, such as the right to vote, to freedom of speech, to ownership of land, and so on, as recompense for obeying his or her Canadian civic dutiessuch as taxation-many apply to other countries of residence, one might similarly expect to be granted equivalent rights whilst taking residence in a virtual world and paying taxation by way of in-game and real life monetary fees. Individuals are sometimes as patriotic about the lands inhabited by their character players or avatars as they are about their home country, shouting "for the Horde!" at World of Warcraft conferences, and sporting Azeroth-emblazoned regalia during everyday life; something akin to wearing the maple leaf across one's chest. The legal issues arising from this trend are twofold; initially-what rights of citizenship do participants in the virtual world of a game hold, which are eschewed, and under what authority? Additionally, to what extent, and from what precedent can fees and subscription payments, as well as an active participation in a game in which one participates as coauthor of the sum experience through role-play and character creation be justifiably sufficient in granting the usual rights of citizenship afforded to individuals reciprocally from their civic duties. To be sure, gaming companies, as proprietors of virtual worlds, ascribe the same legal duties to the citizens of their virtual worlds as do real countries across the world. Insomuch as a citizen must

Recent studies have found that cell phone-based text messaging can help drive positive changes in patients' disease management and preventive health behavior. Furthermore, work in the area of assistive robotics indicates benefits for patients although robotic solutions tend to become expensive. However, continued improvement in sensor, computer and wireless technologies combined with decreases in cost is paving the way for development of affordable robotic systems that can help improve patient care and potentially add value to the healthcare system. Research paper thumbnail of The impact and outcomes of establishing an integrated interdisciplinary surgical team to care for the diabetic foot

Of these, 502 were classified as non‐vascular diabetic foot surgery and 288 were vascular interventions. Urgent surgery was significantly reduced after team implementation (77.7% vs 48.5%, p < 0.0001; OR = 3.7, 95% CI: 2.4–5.5). The high/low amputation ratio decreased from 0.35 to 0.27 due to an increase in low‐level (midfoot) amputations (8.2% vs 26.1%, p < 0.0001; OR = 4.0, 95% CI: 2.0–...
