One source of surface waters in West Kalimantan is peat water that has low turbidity, dark brown ... more One source of surface waters in West Kalimantan is peat water that has low turbidity, dark brown to black (124-850 units of PtCo), high organic content (138-1560 mg/L KMnO4), and is acidic (pH 3,7-5,3). The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the addition of PAC and Moringa Oleifera leaves to the decrease in levels of peat organic water in the Rasau Jaya Village area, Kubu Raya Regency. The method used in this research is by mixing Moringa leaf powder and PAC (Poly Aluminum Chloride) in peat water accompanied by stirring and precipitating. Furthermore, peat water samples were analyzed for their organic content using the permanganometric titration method. The results showed that the levels of organic substances in peat water before the addition of PAC and Moringa leaf powder amounted to 176.96 mg/l, after the addition of 125 mg PAC and Moringa leaf powder with concentrations of 25, 50, 75 l , 100, 125, 150, 175, 200 mg/l, respectively: 42.04 mg/l, 46.97 mg/l, 58.14 mg/l, 66.15 mg/l, 67.20 mg/l, 60.25 mg/l, 63.41 mg/l, and 53.07 mg/l. Based on the results through regression statistical tests obtained sig = 0.015 <0.05 which means Ha is accepted that there is an effect of increasing the concentration of Moringa oleifera powder and PAC on Organic Content in Peat Water in Rasau Jaya Village, Kubu Raya Regency.

The objective of this study was to compare the relative antihyperglycemic properties of Moringa oleifera and Vitex simplicifolia, as well as the reference drug glibenclamide, on blood sugar levels. DM was induced via intraperitoneal injection of alloxan monohydrate; levels of glucose in circulating blood were measured using a glucometer, by tail snip method. The effects of oral administration of ethyl acetate leaf extract of Vitex simplicifolia on vitami... more The effects of oral administration of ethyl acetate leaf extract of Vitex simplicifolia on vitamins A, E and C, Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and lipid profile levels in alloxan induced diabetic Wistar rats were investigated. The study was conducted with 30 Wistar rats, assigned into six groups of five rats each, and daily administration of ethyl acetate leaf extract of Vitex simplicifolia for 21 days was done. Diabetes mellitus was induced in overnight fasted rats by a single intraperitoneal injection (i.p) of 150 mg/kg body weight of alloxan monohydrate. Group 1 was the normal control group 2 was the diabetic control, group 3 was administered 10mg/kg of glibenclimide (positive control) and groups 4, 5, and 6 were administered 250,500 and 1000mg/kg body weight of aqueous leaf extracts of Vitex simplicifolia respectively. There were no significant changes (p<0.01) in the levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerol (TAG), low density lipoproteincholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), SOD, vitamins A, E and C for the animals administered with the extract compared with the control groups. The result of this study suggests that aqueous leaf extract of Vitex simplicifolia has no antioxidant and hypolipidemic effect.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh penambahan lidah buaya (Aloe barbadensis Miller) pada minyak goreng bekas terhadap kadar bilangan asam. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu, menggunakan Teknik purposive sampling. Sampel adalah minyak goreng yang telah mengalami proses penggorengan secara berulang yang dibagi menjadi ke dalam 4 kelompok perlakuan dan masing-masing 6 pengulangan sehingga total sampel menjadi 24. Kadar asam lemak bebas diperiksa dengan menggunakan metode alkalimetri. The study investigated the anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory properties of a Nigerian Polyhe... more The study investigated the anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory properties of a Nigerian Polyherbal Health Tonic tea aqueous extract (PHT) in rodents of both sexes. 100-500 mg kg-1 of the aqueous extract was administered via the intra-peritoneal (i.p.) and oral (p.o.) routes to 5 groups of mice using tail immersion, tail clip, formalin and acetic acid-induced writhing tests of experimental nociceptive models. Each of the models showed that PHT possesses a significant (p<0.05) anti-nociceptive effects which were peripherally and centrally mediated as both the early and late phases of pain significantly (p<0.05) were inhibited. However, the peripherally mediated analgesic effect of PHT, although similar to that of aspirin but was found to be more potent than aspirin. In assessing its anti-inflammatory potentials, 300-1340 mg kg-1 PHT was also administered via oral and intraperitoneal routes, which, significantly (p<0.05) reduced the volume of carrageenan-induced oedema. Although, PHT administered via i.p. route was more effective than the oral but there was barely any difference between the percentage inhibition of oedema volume at both 600 and 1340 mg kg-1 given orally. PHT anti-inflammatory effect was elucidated to be significantly (p<0.05) mediated via histaminergic, serotonergic, bradykinin and prostaglandin inhibition. PHT was also shown to be more protective than acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) in the castor oil-induced diarrhea model, which suggests the involvement of other mechanisms. Thus, lending supports to its folkloric use in pain and swelling management.

Apart from easily obtained and inexpensive, it can cure diseases with few side effects than modern medicine. Papaya leaves were used not only because of contained various chemical compounds with pharmacological effects but also alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins compounds indicated as anti-inflammatory. This study applied a quasi-experimental design to test the papaya leaves anti-inflammatory activity. The red blood cell stabilization method was employed because analogous to the lysosomal membrane affected the inflammatory process. Purposive sampling was used, creating papaya leaves extract of 50 ppm, 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 400 ppm, 600 ppm, and 800 ppm concentration, made 24 total samples by four times replication.
