This dynamic presence helps generate growth and redistribute wealth in developed and developing countries alike. Their important role in reducing poverty in the African countries is also gaining recognition. However, the venture creation and development process requires an enabling environment which should provide sufficient quantities and qualities of physical, financial, human, information and relationship resources. The business environment in Africa and the lack of resources in the African ecosystem are considered to be among the continent’s main causes of business failure and poor competitive capacity. More than 100 SME owner-managers in Cameroon responded to a survey concerning their ability to compete in a global business environment. Their responses appear to show that SMEs face some significant challenges if they wish to grow or simply survive. An environment that offers plenty of resources but is deficient in terms of organization, resource access and stakeholder behaviour constitutes an additional challenge for these owner-managers – one that they cannot address without help. The public authorities therefore face an important task, which is to improve the competitive capacity of the country’s SMEs by upgrading the current business ecosystem and infrastructures, and bringing them into line with global standards.

Through documentary researches, primary data are collected from the Department of Academic Affairs in all Cameroonian State Universities. The results obtained show for each University institution the number of deserted lecturers per faculty (and/or training schools) and per grade over the last ten years. Assistant lecturers, who are the most concerned, are followed by Senior lecturers. On the contrary, associate professors and professors are less concerned by brain drain in Cameroonian Universities. If there is hope that the departure of some University teachers can possibly be beneficial, the phenomenon of brain drain constitutes at the same time a source of anxiety for Cameroonian Universities. Given that human resources are a precious capital to preserve for all organization, solutions are outlined so as to attempt reducing or simply eradicating this scourge tha...

The study used live recitation of entrepreneurs obtained through a semi-direct interview that focuses on three main questions including: the circumstances of the engagement in an entrepreneurship carrier, the legal status of the activities and the evolution of the activities. The results revealed that despite the accumulation capacity of entrepreneurs, they continue to act in an informal manner by convenience and opportunism. This study, therefore dissociates with the established idea that small business entrepreneurs do not have strategic abilities. In fact, the results show that entrepreneurs in the informal sector have strategic abilities that enable them to put in place and at some level strategies of formalization that can guarantee good performance and reduce constraints towards the development of their activities.

Therefore researches on entrepreneurship development in Cameroon are based on entrepreneurs from these main cities, while other regions entrepreneurial activities are not considered as a target for entrepreneurship analysis. This paper analyses entrepreneurial activities in Eastern Cameroon that has a lowest level of enterprise creation that is in contrast to the abundant natural resources in the region. The study highlights the characteristic of local entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial activities as well as the local institutional environment context. The study was based on a survey of 138 local entrepreneurs and the study used both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The descriptive results revealed that local entrepreneurs are largely youthful and the entrepreneurial activities are mainly developed from the small business sector. The study found out that lack of infrastructure; government subsidies and financial resources negatively affected the development of entrepreneurship. The Study suggests that the development of activities from strategic sectors such as agro-industries, forestry industries and mining and a setting of suitable policies and developmental programs at a level of local government could contribute to the socioeconomic development of the region and of the country at large.
