A gap exists between disability-related health and participation, which affects service delivery systems offered to persons with disability (PwD). Disability prevalence ranges from 0.47% to 14.4%. Illiteracy, maldistribution of wealth, and increasing prevalence of chronic diseases add to the burden of existing disability. It is necessary to involve all stakeholders in disability management to strengthen medical rehabilitation teams and improve service delivery while advocating for the rights and needs of PwD.

It intensified the existing burden of rehabilitation of neurological patients. That adverse impact has been more profound in developing countries. This is an exploratory narrative review conducted during May 1 to July 31, 2020 to reflect on the COVID-19 impacts and how to address the challenges of rehabilitation services in Bangladesh. Nonsystematic review methods were used, and to some-extent, the Preferred reporting items for systematic review and meta-analysis statements were followed for this review. Bangladesh is a Lower–Middle-Income Country currently facing multiple challenges with more than 16 million people with disability. The country has world's sixth highest density of population and currently further burdened with the largest refugee camp of the world. It has serious shortage of health-care workers at different levels making COVID-19 preparedness and mitigation difficult. The neurorehabilitation services ...

A total of 81 patients having chronic LBP were included according to the selection criteria. Out of them, 31 (38.3%) were male and 50 (61.7 %) were female in a ratio of 1: 1.61. The mean age of the patients in study was 41.65 ± 8.41years. Female persons were affected in their earlier ages (between 30 and 45 years) than male. Most of the patients were housewives (54.3%). The patients were divided randomly into two groups by the way of lottery for the clinical trial. Group-A patients were treated with NSAIDs, activities of daily living instructions (ADLs) and lumbosacral corset and group-B patients were treated with NSAIDs and ADLs. The patients were followed up weekly for five weeks and significant improvement was recorded after the treatment in both the groups (p=0.001). In comparison between two groups, it was found...

They were divided into two groups: a) One group (n=71) received naproxen (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, NSAID) with selective rehabilitation and b) another group (n= 68) treated with NSAID only. The patients were followed up weekly for eight weeks. The improvement was found in both groups after treatment. In patients with rehabilitation, the pre-treatment and post-treatment mean scores (Oswastry Disability Index, Visual Analogue Scale and Modified Zung Index) were 34.3 ± 9.8 and 9.9 ± 8.0 respectively (p<0.001). Treatment with NSAID only reduced the mean scores from 34.9 ± 13.5 to 16.0 ± 14.4 (p<0.001) after treatment. There was no significant difference in clinical improvement between the groups in pre-treatment compare with week one, rehabilitation group (29.7 ± 8.7) vs NSAID group (31.5 ± 13.8). Currently this group of patients is being treated with various types of management. A few studies have been done so far in Bangladesh to improve the present situation. An experimental study was carried out to observe the effects off cervical traction and Infra ~ed Radiation (IRR) on the patients with cervical spondylosis. A total of 46 patients were included and they were divided into two groups. One group was treated with cervical traction and another group was treated with IRR and NSAID was given to both the groups. There was significant improvement after treatment in both the groups (p=0.001 at 95% CI). And in comparison between two groups there was significant improvement in cervical traction group than the IRR group (p=0.001 at 95% Cl). So it can be concluded that the cervical traction has better effects on cervical spondylosis in relation to IRR.

The mean age of the patients were 44.50 ± 8.94 years. They were treated with short wave diathermy (SWD) along with conventional treatment. After treatment the result was compared and student's't' test was done to see the level of significance. There was significant improvement after treatment (P=0.001). From the present study, it may be concluded that treatment with SWD may be helpful for the treatment of chronic low back pain. Introduction: Chronic low back pain is very frequently found in our day to day practice. Low back pain that has been present for at least three months is known as chronic low back pain 1 . Low back pain (LBP) is exceedingly common, experienced at some time by up to 80% of the population 2 . LBP is an uncomfortable sensation in the lumbar and buttock region originating from neurons near or around the spinal canal that are injured or irritated by one or more pathologic proce...

A total of 214 doctors of a postgraduate medical institute were included in the study who was involved in research works. A written questionnaire was given to the respondents to assess their knowledge, attitude and practice about informed consent (IC). The data was analyzed statistically. Chi-Square test was done to see the level of significance. Regarding knowledge of IC, we found maximum participants were more or less knowledgeable about it. The attitude of the respondents was also in favour of taking IC. In practice, most of them had taken informed consent that was verbal (39.3%) and written (47.6%). But some of the researcher (13.1%) had not taken any informed consent. By the present study, it may be concluded that the researchers of the concerned institute were aware of IC.

So, research activities should be done on the basis of recent advancement of endometriosis.

The study was designed to examine if rituximab increases the risk to develop non-neutropenic infection (NNI). Medical records of 202 patients diagnosed as follicular lymphoma or small lymphocytic lymphoma were reviewed. Negative binomial regression was used to estimate relative risk (RR) of NNI. Rituximab (n= 41) and non-rituximab (n= 161) groups had a total of 31.636 and 195.691 reviewed patient days, and recorded a total of 67 and 154 infections, respectively. Negative binomial regression analysis revealed significant effects for the treatment (rituximab vs. non-rituximab) and age (p< 0.01). The RRs of viral and bacterial NNI for rituximab group compared to nonrituximab group were 3.33 and 2.60, respectively; while the RRs for one year increment of age were 1.03 and 1.04, respectively. The time-to-first viral and bacterial NNI for rituximab group were significantly faster than non-rituximab group. Rituximab may increase the risk of NNI in patients with follicular lymphoma or small lymphocytic lymphoma.

They were divided randomly into two groups and treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, exercises, activities of daily living instructions and with or without shortwave diathermy. After six weeks of treatment, improvements were observed in both the groups. But significant difference in improvement was found in shortwave diathermy group than in placebo group. The present study suggests that shortwave diathermy is effective for the treatment of patients with chronic low back pain. Keywords: Back pain; NSAID; Shortwave diathermyOnline:Â 22 May 2009DOI: 10.3329/bmrcb.v35i1.2320Bangladesh Med Res Counc Bull 2009; 35: 18-20Â
