They're becoming more well recognized as one of the most important food components because to their important functions in human health, nutrition, and disease. If waste isn't managed, it can cause environmental concerns, but it can be beneficial if it's used as a growing media supplement for oyster mushroom production. The goal of this research is to look into and evaluate the impact of sawdust, rice straw, and paper, as well as their mixtures, on the yield and nutritional composition of Pleurotus ostreatus mushrooms. The results revealed that different substrates formulas gave a significant difference in total colonization period, characteristics of fruiting bodies, yield, biological efficiency (BE), nutritional composition of Pleurotus ostreatus (os) mushroom. The highest length and diameter of stock, highest diameter and thickness of pileus was observed in the treartment SD+RS+PAPER(3.32,1...

Spawning method is also important for evenly growth of mycelium in the substrate. Therefore, the present experiment was carried out to investigate the impact of substrate sterilization technique and spawning method on yield and yield attributes of C. indica. Seven different treatments such as Steam treatment of substrate and spawning in 3 layers (T1), Steam treatment of substrate and spawning thoroughly (T2), Autoclaving of substrate and top spawning (T3), Autoclaving of substrate and spawning in 3 layers (T4), Autoclaving of substrate and spawning thoroughly (T5), Hot water treatment of substrate and spawning in 3 layers (T6) and Hot water treatment of substrate and spawning thoroughly (T7) were used in this experiment. Mycelium colonization, substrate contamination, days to total harvest, yield and biological efficiency was significantly affected by substrate sterilization technique and spawning method. Faster mycelium colonization, no substrate contamination, highest yield and biological efficiency was recorded in substrate treated with hot water and inoculated in three layers (T6). Result revealed that hot water treatment in combination with three layer spawning of rice straw substrate was the best substrate sterilization technique & spawning method for milky white mushroom cultivation.

But every fruiting body primordia take some nutrient from the substrate, and the dried & rotten primordia may encourage other competitive fungi or harmful microorganism to grow on the upper surface of the substrate which may affect the fruiting body formation and yield in the subsequent flushes. Therefore, the present study was under taken to know the effect of casing material management technique on yield and yield attributes of milky white mushroom. Five different casing material management technique were practiced in this experiment, such as T1= removal of dried non effective fruiting bodies after each harvest; T2= removal of dried non effective fruiting bodies and filling the casing hole with fresh casing material after each harvest; T3= scraping the upper surface of the substrate after each harvest; T4= scraping the upper surface...
