The aims of the research to determine the effect of probiotics and organic acids from (Hymanachin... more The aims of the research to determine the effect of probiotics and organic acids from (Hymanachine acutigulma) silage to the percentage of small intestine weights and ceace. This research was held on two months at the experimental fary Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Data analyzed in description by 6 treatments and 4 replications. There is 3 Pegagan duck as a variable unit: P0 (control), P1 (diet + organic acid), P2 (diet + probiotic), P3 (diet + tetracycline), P4 ((diet + organic acids + probiotics)), P5 ((diet + organic acid + probiotic + tetracycline)). The observed variables were small intestine weight, duodenum weight, jejenum weight, ileum weight and ceace weight. The results of this research indicate that the effect of probiotic and organic acid from (Hymanachine acutigulma) silage can increase the weight of the small intestine, duodenum, jejenum, ileum, ceace and total bacteria acid lactat. The conclusion of this research is the provision of probiotics and organic acids from (Hymanachine acutigulma) silage can icrease the weight of the small intenstine, duodenum, jejenum, ileum, ceace and total bacteria acid lactat

The decrease internal of egg quality during the storage period happened because of the waste air ... more The decrease internal of egg quality during the storage period happened because of the waste air cavity caused by evaporation of CO 2 and H 2 O. To add more time of the egg storage period, it needs additional natural preservatives such as tannin, to block the evaporation process. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of wuluh starfruit leaves solution in different concentration to the pH, albumin index, and yolk index of the Pegagan duck eggs. The study was conducted on March 2018 at Animal Nutrition and Feed Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used 72 Pegagan duck eggs and 180 grams of wuluh starfruit leaves. The experimental variable observed were egg pH, albumin index, and yolk index. This study was assigned in a Completely Random Design, which consists of 4 treatments and 6 replications. The treatments are solution with 0%, 1%, 2%, and 3% (w/v) concentration with length of storage for 14 days. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and significantly different followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5%. The results showed that the level of wuluh starfruit solution up to 3% concentration had no significant effect (>0,05) to the pH, albumin index, and yolk index of the Pegagan duck eggs.

Seventy-two Pegagan laying ducks (average age: 24 weeks) were randomly allocated to six treatment groups: basal diet, basal diet + organic acid, basal diet + probiotic, basal diet + tetracycline, basal diet + probiotic + organic acid, and basal diet + organic acid + tetracycline. The result showed that the feeding diets containing probiotics and organic acid significantly ( P < 0.05) reduced yolk fat and yolk cholesterol and increased eggshell weight, egg index, yolk color score, Haugh unit, and protein content. However, egg weight, albumen weight, yolk weight, albumen index, yolk index, and water content were not significantly ( P > 0.05) different. It is concluded that dietary supplementation of organic acid and probiotic derived from grass silage improved egg quality in terms of yolk color score, fat, and cholesterol content.

Lactobacillus spp. is one of the lactic acid bacteria, has a positive effect on improving the mea... more Lactobacillus spp. is one of the lactic acid bacteria, has a positive effect on improving the meat and egg quality in poultry. However, there is a paucity of information about the effect of Lactobacillus culture isolated from ensiled swamp grass on meat and egg characteristics. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of supplementing Lactobacillus culture isolated from ensiled Hymenache acutigluma (LHA) via drinking water on the duck meat and egg quality. A total of 60 Pegagan ducks aged 24-week-old were used in the current study and kept for 60 days. Ducks were randomly allocated into 5 treatment groups and 4 replicates per group, consisting of LHA 0 (control group without LHA solution), LHA 1, LHA 2, LHA 3, and LHA 4 (treatment groups supplemented with LHA solutions in drinking water with concentrations of 10 6 , 10 7 , 10 8 , and 10 9 CFU/ml, respectively). The results showed that the value of cooking loss linearly increased, followed by a linear decrease in the water holding capacity after LHA addition. However, there was no change in the meat pH and moisture content. Further measurements revealed that both the yolk height and yolk index were linearly improved after being administered with LHA solutions, but no difference was found in other egg variables, including the yolk weight, diameter, and color, albumen weight, and height, as well as the eggshell weight and thickness. In conclusion, the provision of LHA via drinking water with a concentration of up to 10 9 CFU/ml could modulate the meat and egg quality of ducks. The LHA solutions enhanced the ability of meat protein to bind water, thereby inhibiting nutrient loss. Moreover, LHA had a greater effect on improving yolk quality, compared to albumen and eggshell.

Pectin based biopolymer electrolytes have been prepared with different concentrations of sodium n... more Pectin based biopolymer electrolytes have been prepared with different concentrations of sodium nitrate by solution casting technique using distilled water as solvent. The amorphous nature of all the prepared biopolymer electrolytes is confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies. The FTIR studies confirm the complexation between polymer and salt. The ionic conductivity (2.7 × 10-9 S/cm) of pure pectin is enhanced to 4.2 × 10-6 S/cm by doping of NaNO 3 salt. The dielectric properties of the pectin/NaNO 3 electrolytes are also discussed. The prepared biopolymer electrolytes obey Arrhenius behavior with respect to temperature. The high ionic conductivity, low relaxation time (41.2 mS) and maximum cationic transference number are achieved for 9% of NaNO 3 doped biopolymer electrolyte. This highest conductivity polymer electrolyte has been used to construct a battery.

The study was done at September until October 2015 in Nutrition and Animal Feed Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty of Sriwijaya University. The experimental design was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and continued with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The study consist of 5 treatments and 4 replications : R0 (salted without liquid smoke); R1 (salted using liquid smoke 2,5%); R2 (salted using liquid smoke 5,0%); R3 (salted using liquid smoke 7,5%); and R4 (salted using liquid smoke 10%). The parameters observed were egg weight lost, albumen index, yolk index and haugh unit. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 5 perlakuan 3 ulangan yang terdiri dari R0:0% asap cair (kontrol), R1 : 0,25% asap cair (2,5 ml asap cair + 1 liter air minum), R2 :0,50% asap cair (5,0 ml asap cair + 1 liter air minum), R3 :0,75% asap cair (7,5 ml asap cair + 1 liter air minum), R4 :1,00% asap cair (10,0 ml asap cair + 1 liter ai rminum). Chitosan is a crustacean waste product that is biodegradable and anti-germ so it is suitable to be given to poultry. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of chitosan on the external quality of chicken eggs. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 5 replications, each replication consisting of 2 Arab chickens aged 4.5 months. The study was conducted for 7 weeks. The treatments given were: R0 (control ration without chitosan), R1 (ration + chitosan 0.5%), R2 (ration + chitosan 1%), R3 (ration + chitosan 1.5%), R4 (ration + chitosan 2%), R5 (ration + chitosan 2.5%). Sejauh ini data ilmiah mengenai itik Pegagan sebagai sumber plasma nutfah relatif masih sedikit dibandingkan ternak itik lokal lainnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari dan mengidentifikasi keragaan telur tetas itik Pegagan. Penelitian inidiawali dengan mengumpulkan telur tetas itik Pegagan sebanyak 500 butir yang didapat dari tiga kecamatan yaitu kecamatan Tanjung Raja, Inderalaya dan Pemulutan Kabupaten Ogan Ilir Sumatera Selatan. The study was done at September until October 2015 in Nutrition and Animal Feed Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty of Sriwijaya University. The experimental design was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and continued with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The study consist of 5 treatments and 4 replications : R0 (salted without liquid smoke); R1 (salted using liquid smoke 2,5%); R2 (salted using liquid smoke 5,0%); R3 (salted using liquid smoke 7,5%); and R4 (salted using liquid smoke 10%). The parameters observed were egg weight lost, albumen index, yolk index and haugh unit. The result of this research show that using of liquid smoke in the preservation Pegagan duck’s egg affected significantly (P 0.05) the yolk index. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 5 perlakuan 3 ulangan yang terdiri dari R0:0% asap cair (kontrol), R1 : 0,25% asap cair (2,5 ml asap cair + 1 liter air minum), R2 :0,50% asap cair (5,0 ml asap cair + 1 liter air minum), R3 :0,75% asap cair (7,5 ml asap cair + 1 liter air minum), R4 :1,00% asap cair (10,0 ml asap cair + 1 liter ai rminum). Chitosan is a crustacean waste product that is biodegradable and anti-germ so it is suitable to be given to poultry. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of chitosan on the external quality of chicken eggs. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 5 replications, each replication consisting of 2 Arab chickens aged 4.5 months. The study was conducted for 7 weeks. The treatments given were: R0 (control ration without chitosan), R1 (ration + chitosan 0.5%), R2 (ration + chitosan 1%), R3 (ration + chitosan 1.5%), R4 (ration + chitosan 2%), R5 (ration + chitosan 2.5%). The results showed that chitosan had the potential to improve the external quality of eggs. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari dan mengidentifikasi keragaan telur tetas itik Pegagan. Penelitian inidiawali dengan mengumpulkan telur tetas itik Pegagan sebanyak 500 butir yang didapat dari tiga kecamatan yaitu kecamatan Tanjung Raja, Inderalaya dan Pemulutan Kabupaten Ogan Ilir Sumatera Selatan.
