The United States of America has a combination of two healthcare systems from the four different types of healthcare models. This is the system the country uses for the Veteran Health Administration, which falls in the Beveridge Model, and its Medicare health system fails in the National Health Insurance or Single-Payer Model. However, the Ethiopian healthcare system does not fall into any of the four Health systems. In this paper, I'll try to compare the incomparable.

According to UNAIDS, there were approximately 38.4 million people globally with HIV in 2021. Of these, 36.7 million were adults, and 1.7 million were children (<15 years old). In addition, 54% were women and girls. (USAID, 2021). An estimated 1.5 million individuals worldwide acquired HIV in 2021. This number is less than the number of people who have acquired HIV/AIDS prior to 2021, marking a 32% decline in new HIV infections since 2010. New HIV infections, or "HIV incidence," refers to the estimated number of people who newly acquired HIV during a given period, such as a year, which is different from the number of people diagnosed with HIV during a year. Of these 1.5 million new HIV infections 1.3 million were among adults 160,000 were among children (<15 years old). Some people may have HIV but not know it. According to CDC, in the United States, approximately 1.2 million people are living with HIV. About 13 percent of them do not know their HIV serostatus and need testing. HIV-positive people who do not know their status play a critical role in fueling the Epidemic. They do not seek antiretroviral treatment. They often engage in risky sexual behavior and practices (e.g., multiple, and concurrent partnerships) with relatively higher viral load levels leading to virus transmission among their sexual networks.

Despite comprising only 13% of the U.S. population, this group accounted for 42% (16,002) of the 37,968 new HIV diagnoses in the United States in 2018. This disparity can be attributed to systemic barriers to prevention and care, as well as the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS in the Black and African American communities. Addressing these issues is crucial to reducing the number of new HIV/AIDS cases and improving health outcomes for this population.
