Motivational factors are enhancing employee's Commitment to their organization for organizational growth and development. Public higher education is a rapidly expanding part of Ethiopia’s higher education system. Public higher institutions in Ethiopia are growing at faster rate. Micro and Small businesses exist in almost every industry. They can range from mom-and-pop conven... more Micro and Small businesses exist in almost every industry. They can range from mom-and-pop convenience stores to small manufacturing plants. Additional types of small-scale enterprises can include privately owned restaurants, law firms, inns, bakeries, architectural and engineering firms, dry cleaners, coffee house and construction contractors. Such enterprises are generally privately own and operated sole proprietorships, corporations or partnerships. The legal definition of a micro and smallscale enterprise varies by industry and country. The fundamental contribution of the small business sector to the overall performance of the economy is indeed a crucial motive for researchers to investigate and examine the key success factors behind this sector. Small businesses face many challenges that hinder their growth or even further cause a permanent shutdown. Most micro and small businesses are control by their owners because they could not have fund for to hire proficiency to run the businesses for them (Raja ram, 2008). The independent and private ownership (sole proprietorship or partnership) of small business always endorse uncertainty (Keasey and Watson, 1993).

The study has also found the commitment level of the employees and its relationship with the motivation. Required primary cross sectional data has been collected from 371 employees of the Public Universities in Tigrai regional state of Ethiopia. Using SPSS software the collected data is analyzed. Descriptive statistical tools such as mean, standard deviation and variance have been applied to describe the level of satisfaction among the employees towards the intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. The correlation statistics has also been applied to find the relationship between motivation and organizational commitment. The study has found an apparent positive correlation between motivation and organizational commitment. The results on the satisfaction level of the employees highlights that the intrinsic motivation is at the upper level. There is a scope to enrich extrinsic motivation. Hence the universities should focus more on the extrinsic motivation to have better committed employees.

Micro and small enterprises and development opportunity have very direct relationships. They requ... more Micro and small enterprises and development opportunity have very direct relationships. They require less capital and more labor. SMEs have the capacity to generate a much higher degree of employment opportunity with less capital as compared to large-scale enterprise. The overall objective of the study is to analyze the factors that determine the success of small and medium scale enterprises at Hintalo Wejerat some selected town. This study analyzes some key determinants of success among 193 sampled small and medium scale enterprises out of 373-targeted population at Wereda Hintalo Wejerat. Proportions sampling formula were used and Questionnaire, interview, and document reading, were used to obtain the data. Two indicators, namely compound employment growth, and capital growth, represent success. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics and multi regression model. The descriptive part presents the stages of growth of SMEs using graphs based on the sector type and years of operation. Number of employees who took training based on the types of training given was also presented in this section. Moreover, the mean compound employment and capital growths of the enterprises in relation to various independent variables were computed. The regression result showed that success of micro and small enterprises measured by employment and capital growth is affected by a variety of factors. From the compound employments growth, it was found that enterprise's initial size and years of operation are inversely related with success providing evidence that firms with smaller initial size and year of operation grow faster than firms with higher initial size and year of operations. In addition, there is statistically positive link among service sector, preparation of business plan, access to marketing information and involvement in social network and compound employment growth.
