Surely no obituary can do justice to Leslie Morton's career and accomplishments? He was distinguished alike in his 'day jobs' as a leading medical librarian, in his creative involvement in professional affairs and in his work as a much published bibliographer and historian of medicine. He won both the Marcia C. Noyes Award of the (American) Medical Library Association in 1960 and the Cyril Barnard Memorial

The purpose of informatics and library services is to ensure that providers of health care have a... more The purpose of informatics and library services is to ensure that providers of health care have access to reliable, relevant and up to date information, enabling them to enhance the quality of care. This paper demonstrates the common ground between the two, and the advantages of shared understanding and joint working and draws some conclusions for medical librarians.

A general introduction showing the need for a regional structure, how the regional networks were ... more A general introduction showing the need for a regional structure, how the regional networks were set up, what they do and how they facilitate better library and information services (LIS) for their users, is followed by descriptions of the setting up, work and development of four different regions; South West England, Midland, Wales and Scotland. A list with contacts is given for all the regional networks, the NHS Regional Librarians Group (RLG) and the LINC Health Panel.
