For this study, ~2.7 g Extra Heavy Crude Oil was mixed with ~3 mL xylene and 0,3 g organic multielemental solution containing 100 µg g-1 of Ag, Al, Ba, Cd, Cr, Cu, Mg, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sn, Ti, V, and Zn, xylene was left to evaporate at 90 °C and multielemental samples were obtained and analyzed by LA-ICPMS. Laser parameters, such as, ablation gas flow, sample scanning speed, spot size, fluence and focus position were optimized and RSD (n = 8) from 3% to 5% for the net signal of 63 Cu, 95 Mo, 60 Ni and 66 Zn and from 0.9% to 3.3% for the ratios Ni/Mo and Cu/Zn were obtained. Elemental fractionation was observed with both Zn and Cd when fluence was varied. Nevertheless, evidence is not enough to explain results as a consequence of high volatility or high ionization potential (PI) of these elements. Ablation craters obtained show signs of more pronounced thermal processes...

The incorporation of AAm and PAAc in the networks was demonstrated by the characterization of the obtained gels with Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR). Additionally, poly (acrylamide-co-acrylic acid) (AAm/AAc) hydrogels were synthesized and characterized to compare with the interpenetrated networks (IPNs). Absorption studies of pure water and metallic salts aqueous solutions were carried out, observing a larger hydration degree (swelling) when the concentration of PAAc was increased and the percentage of MBAAm decreased. The synthesized hydrogels in a 60/40 ratio, AAm / PAAc showed the best absorption properties, both in water as in metallic (Mg2 +, Cu2 +) solutions. The kinetic parameters showed that the acrylamide favors the absorption speed (k), while the presence of PAAc in the...

However, drawbacks inherent to this technique such as differences in sample transport efficiency, analyte volatility and atomization, and matrix dependency are still problems to be solved. On the other hand, quantification has usually been carried out by comparison with known reference materials and so it appears that the use. of intemal standards would be essential for controlling sorne of the above variables.

Sample treatment and instrumental conditions were optimized, and the results were compared with those obtained by a pseudodigestion method in order to evaluate the compatibility of both methodologies. The optimum amount of margarine in the emulsion was 35% when the surfactant Tween 80 was added as the emulsifier. Copper was below the detection limits of both methodologies, i.e., digestion and emulsion; iron and nickel concentrations found by both methodologies were similar. The detection limits of the emulsion method were 0.002, 0.015, and 0.092 mg/kg for copper, iron, and nickel, respectively. A benefit of the emulsion method is that laborious and lengthy sample digestion procedures are avoided. In addition, accurate and precise results are obtained. Recoveries with the emulsion method ranged from 101 to 104%, with relative stand...

The sample and the reducing agent flow separately till they reach the air flow. The generated species are then mixed with the air carrier gas
