But, the generator of proposed wind turbine system is connected to Hydraulic torque converter. In case of the proposed wind turbine system, is possible to make torque transmission long distance, set up generator somewhere in between the tower or the ground as well as, nacelle weight can be greatly down. Lightweight of nacelle exactly wind direction tracking can be easily also, cost down of established frame structure and generator setting, maintenance, easy and improvement of system stability.

Recent interest in Darrieus wind turbines has led to a need for proper performance prediction mod... more Recent interest in Darrieus wind turbines has led to a need for proper performance prediction models. Of all the existing models, multiple streamtubes model is reasonably simple and relatively precise. However, neglecting dependency of Reynolds number (Re) leads to the failure of prediction at high tip-speed ratios (TSR). In this proposed paper, an algorithm LDWT, which applied local blade Re instead of one representative Re, was developed and researched. In the calculation, 2-dimensional experimental data for aerofoil characteristics were applied because their 3-dimensional data for different Re could not be accessible. This study shows that results for high TSR from LDWT match test data better than previous research instead of underestimation in other regions. In the region of low TSR, it is shown that stall delay model is needed to match well with test data. Therefore, it is expected to be useful in the proper design and optimisation of rotors at high tip-speed ratios when their test data is not available or incomplete.

As the increasing integrity of VLSI, the BIST(Built-In Self Test) is used as an effective method ... more As the increasing integrity of VLSI, the BIST(Built-In Self Test) is used as an effective method to test chips. Generally the pseudo-random test pattern generation is used for BIST. But it requires too many test patterns when there exist random resistant faults. Therefore we propose a mixed test scheme which applies to the circuit under test, a deterministic test sequence followed by a pseudo-random one. This scheme allows the maximum fault coverage detection to be achieved, furthermore the silicon area overhead of the mixed hardware generator can be reduced.

Generally, wind industry has been oriented to large power systems which require large windy areas... more Generally, wind industry has been oriented to large power systems which require large windy areas and often need to overcome environment restrictions. However, small-scale wind turbines are closer to the consumers and have a large market potential, and much more efforts are required to become economically attractive. In this paper, a prototype of a small-scale urban wind generation system for battery charging application is described and a fuzzy logic based MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) algorithm which can be effectively applied to urban wind turbine system is proposed. Through Matlab based simulation studies and actual implementation using DSP of the proposed algorithm, the feasibility of the proposed scheme is verified.

Microstructured magnetic tunnel junction rings have been fabricated by a top-down technique combi... more Microstructured magnetic tunnel junction rings have been fabricated by a top-down technique combining electron beam lithography and ion milling process. Four-terminal magnetoresistance measurements and magnetic force microscopy were used to successfully explore a four-transition process within the free layer throughout the magnetization reversal. Various magnetization configurations were identified to be the onion state, vortex-pair state, vortex state, vortex-core state, and reverse onion state. In addition, the various durations of each magnetic state observed in the magnetoresistance curve can be utilized for the study of a coupling effect between the pinned layer and the free layer.
