Between Continuity and Negation - Reception of the Ancient Spolia in the Christian Tradition in t... more Between Continuity and Negation - Reception of the Ancient Spolia in the Christian Tradition in the North of Kosovo The use of spolia has been recorded on numerous sacred objects in the Northern Kosovo, especially in the micro region around the Roman settlement in Sočanica. Spolia were mostly used for construction and paving; however, their use in the making of church mobiliar, such as the altar or candle stand, is highly marked as well. On the other hand, the ritual use of spolia, like the marble statue in Ceranjska reka, is less frequent. The aesthetic value of spolia is arguable and difficult to evaluate as the remains are often corrupted. For example, the Roman stele in Ceranjska reka could have been laid into the church wall as a tombstone or for purely aesthetic reasons. However, for spolia to be used in the new context, it must have undergone a purification process through ablution, prayer, or by etching of the cross for the apotropaic purposes. This article analyzes the status of persons with mental disability deprived of liberty in institu... more This article analyzes the status of persons with mental disability deprived of liberty in institutions of detention, such as psychiatric hospitals, institutions for the enforcement of criminal sanctions, police stations and various types of social welfare institutions of the home type (including geriatric institutions and homes for the elderlies). Different grounds and forms of their deprivation of liberty were examined and structured; the shortcomings in the current regulations, their compliance with international standards, and the omissions in their implementation, are pointed out; a number of unfavorable aspects of deprivation of liberty are presented, which in practice are faced by people with mental disability. Particular attention is paid to the fact that persons with mental disability are exposed to increased risk of torture and other forms of abuse during their deprivation of liberty, which can be a causative factor in the emergence or a significant promoter in further dete...

Opasnost koju danas predstavlja organizovani kriminal više je nego evidentna, s obzirom na to da ... more Opasnost koju danas predstavlja organizovani kriminal više je nego evidentna, s obzirom na to da poprima široke, transnacionalne okvire i zbog toga postaje, pored terorizma, glavni bezbednosni problem, izazov i rizik svih savremenih društava. Delovanjem organizovanog kriminala ugrožavaju se ljudska bezbednost i vladavina prava; postaje sve teže obuzdati taj fenomen i naći adekvatan odgovor na njega. Organizovane kriminalne grupe, pored "tradicionalnih", neretko "posežu" i za novim oblicima kriminalnih aktivnosti, pri čemu ugrožavaju bezbednost na različite načine. Upravo zbog specifičnosti ovih načina ugrožavanja bezbednosti, potrebno je posvetiti veliku pažnju metodama suprotstavljanja organizovanom kriminalu, među kojima mere prevencije preduzete od strane svih bezbednosnih struktura, kao i njihova međusobna saradnja, blagovremeno i potpuno informisanje, ali i represivne metode, predstavljaju model kojim se stvaraju osnove za efikasniju kontrolu ovog vida kriminalnih aktivnosti. We describe the first local oscillator (LO) that demonstrates viability in terms of performance, ... more We describe the first local oscillator (LO) that demonstrates viability in terms of performance, size, and power, for chip-scale atomic clocks (CSAC) and has been integrated with the physics package at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Boulder, CO. This voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) achieves the lowest combined size, DC power consumption, phase noise, and thermal frequency drift among those previously reported, while achieving a tuning range large enough to compensate for part tolerances but small enough to permit precision locking to an atomic resonance. We discuss the design of the LO and the integration with the NIST physics package. I.

This paper presents a design method for voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) with simultaneous s... more This paper presents a design method for voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) with simultaneous small size, low phase noise, DC power consumption and thermal drift. We show design steps to give good prediction of VCO phase noise and power consumption behavior: (1) measured resonator frequencydependent parameters; (2) transistor additive phase noise/ noise figure characterization; (3) accurate tuning element model; and (4) bias-dependent model in case of an active load. As an illustration, the design of a 3.4-GHz bipolar transistor VCO with varactor tuning is presented. Oscillator measurements demonstrate low phase noise (-40dBc@100Hz and better than-100dBc@10kHz) with power consumption on the order of a few milliwatts with a circuit footprint smaller than 0.6cm 2. The temperature stability is found to be better than +/-10ppm/°C from-40°C to +30°C. The oscillators are implemented using lowcost off-the-shelf surface-mountable components, including a micro-coaxial resonator. The VCO directly modulates the current of a laser diode and demonstrates a short-term stability of 10 2 10 / τ − ⋅ when locked to a miniature Rubidium atomic clock.

This paper presents the design, implementation and characterization of a rectenna array for wirel... more This paper presents the design, implementation and characterization of a rectenna array for wireless powering of sensor electronics for airframe fatigue detection. The rectenna aperture is powered 5 minutes at a time during inspection with a requirement of ±15V at 100mW. The maximum incident RF power is 10mW/cm 2. A single rectenna element at this incident power density has an output power of 5 mW and an estimated efficiency of 50%. Each of the 25 antenna elements has an integrated rectifier, the outputs of which are combined in series to achieve the total required voltage and power at an estimated efficiency of 40%.

This paper presents an experimental method for determining additive phase noise of an unmatched t... more This paper presents an experimental method for determining additive phase noise of an unmatched transistor in a stable 50-environment. The measured single-sideband phase noise is used to determine the large-signal noise figure of the device. From the Leeson-Cutler formula and a known oscillator circuit with the characterized transistor, the phase noise of the oscillator can be predicted. The method is applied to characterization of several bipolar devices around 3.4 GHz, the frequency of interest for miniature rubidium-based atomic clock voltage-controlled oscillators.

TETRA system represents basic system for mobile communications for Ministry of Interior of Republ... more TETRA system represents basic system for mobile communications for Ministry of Interior of Republic of Serbia, and as such it has high requirements for system availability and reachability. If we approach TETRA system architecture as special purpose celular system it is questioned if system can be migrated to IP network. Having in mind specific requirements of mobile system of MoI RS we have perfromed one step further in analysis. Expert teams of MoI RS, SAGA and Cisco have engaged in Proof of Concept testing of backhaul connectivity of TETRA BS through IP adn 3G links of mobile operators. 3G base stations are available in numbers on each part of teritory and are perfect choice for global available link, however it has been a great technical endeavour to enable backhaul connectivity of one mobile cellular system through other cellular commercial system, while maintaining high level of availability and reachability of system.
