These findings touch up many of the existing results in the literature. Additionally, we elicit one of our main result by a non-trivial example and pose an interesting open problem for the enthusiastic readers.

According to the recently obtained results, this was possible (Wardowski’s method) only if two more properties (F2) and (F3) were used instead of the aforementioned strictly increasing (F1). Using only the fact that the function F is strictly increasing, we came to new families of contractive conditions that have not been found in the existing literature so far. Assuming that α(u,v)=1 for every u and v from metric space Ξ, we obtain some contractive conditions that can be found in the research of Rhoades (Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 1977, 222) and Collaco and Silva (Nonlinear Anal. TMA 1997). Results of the paper significantly improve, complement, unify, generalize and enrich several results known in the current literature. In addition, we give examples with results in line with the ones we obtained.

We also introduce ( φ , F ) -weak contraction and establish the corresponding fixed point result. Using our new approach for the proof that a Picard sequence is a Cauchy in metric space, our obtained results complement and enrich several methods in the existing literature. At the end we give one open question for F-contraction of Ćirić-type mapping.

By using our new approach for the proof that a Picard sequence is Cauchy in the context of b-metric-like space, our results generalize, improve and complement several approaches in the existing literature. Moreover, some examples are presented here to illustrate the usability of the obtained theoretical results.

Next, we give some fixed point theorems in the b 2-metric space. Some of our results are the corresponding generalizations of the known results in the b 2-metric space, which is confirmed by some examples.

Xu, we prove a generalized Banach fixed point theorem for the setting of cone rectangular Banach algebra valued metric spaces without assuming the normality of the underlying cone. Our work generalizes Some recent results in cone rectangular Banach algebra valued metric spaces. An example to illustrate the main result is also presented.

Our result generalizes, improves, compliments, unifies and enriches several known ones in the existing literature. Also, our proof of Meir-Keeler's theorem in the context of standard metric spaces is much shorter and nicer than the ones in (

The purpose of this paper is to present this in the framework of symmetric spaces which are associated with abstract (cone) metric spaces introduced by Radenović and Kadelburg [S. Radenović, Z. Kadelburg, Quasi-contractions on symmetric and cone symmetric spaces, ISI J. BJMA (electronic) (in press)]. Our results extend and generalize Sehgal-Guseman-type theorems from metric and abstract metric spaces to some symmetric spaces. Examples are given to illustrate the results.
