This paper presents an improved decision making process in such a way that when the designer made a decision he or she is shown at the same time the result of customer satisfaction on the decision made. In order to solve above problems, the paper describes the method which integrates the use of an axiomatic approach to designing and the Taguchi method of robust design. This approach implies the modelling of the development process as an evidence-reasoning network based on uncertain evidence described via the belief functions of the Dempster-Shafer theory. We introduce the coefficient of relative decrease of uncertainty in design process. From an example of belt-flywheel design we present a new hybrid paradigm for product/manufacturing design in uncertainty conditions.

Research paper thumbnail of RFID technology in the function of generating flexible robotic sequences of the FMC

Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering, 2019

Improving flexibility, identifying parts and assigning process operations in flexible production ... more Improving flexibility, identifying parts and assigning process operations in flexible production are elements that can potentially influence the improvement in the management process. RFID technology has been widely applied in various areas of logistics, supply chain, storage, retail and transport. In flexible production systems, RFID technology is still in the developing phase. The process of applying RFID technology in a production system enables real-time information about the parts included in the system. This information can always be used to improve production efficiency and reduce costs. Also, the data of the production of components involved in the production, such as operations, both manipulative and productive, can be recorded on RFID tags, linked to the component by which the system is decentralized, and the production process gets more flexible and agile. This article deals with the designed architecture of the flexible production in FMC based on RFID technology and management system based on a set of agents. The findings presented in this study show that the shown framework is more capable than the most of the implemented ones in the current production practice, especially if the process is dynamic, unknown to the management, and has the requirements of reconfiguration.

The transportation and manipulation process of energy transformers during the overhaul is particularly complex, since it is specified as the railway freight of oversized capital product cargo. Energy transformers fall under the category of capital electric energy equipment that have an exploitation period of over 30 years on hydro energy and thermal energy plants or high-voltage substations. Depending on the power and voltage level, the mass of an energy transformer can be up to 400t, while the price can reach as much as a million Euros. The overhaul of energy transformers of great power is a very specific technological process that is carried out in specially equipped factories.

For a broad array of different workpieces produced in different series it is very difficult to engineer a manufacturing process for attaining maximum processing productivity with minimal production costs. The paper presents a developed post-processor model enabling automatic generating of the NC code for all NC programs executed simultaneously in the production process on a greater number of machining centers. Orientation towards product quality is one of the optimum strategies enabling survival and development in the ever more globalized market. The business practice required by ISO 9001 standard is often insufficient for an organization to survive in the market. Therefore many organizations, in addition to developing and implementing Quality Management System (QMS), optimize their operative processes by implementing the Lean tools. The paper provides a concept of interconnecting the ISO 9001:2015 standard requirements with the possible Lean tools deployment, which is to contribute to promoting effectiveness of the implemented QMS.

Focusing on the selection of tools and cutting parameters in the design of machining operations, the ontology for the knowledge domain was first introduced, and then in that context identify and analyse some of the challenges that CAPP presents to the multi-agent system architect. In particular, interactions between operation design and setup design was investigated, issues arising from global impacts of local decisions in plan construction were examine, and differences between software agents and humans in comparable planning roles were discuss. The analysis leads to several multi-agent design patterns that help capture domain-specific know-how and integrate it into efficient team behaviour. A pattern is illustrated with a concrete scenario.

Thus have been analytically defined the major dependencies between the characteristic parameters of the machining process, enabling the engineers of FMS tech...

This situation is quite frequent in the very early phases of the design process, where a large part of external conditions are not fully defined. It is also the case of a designer of machine tools. As methodological response able to fill this informative gap, the present paper presents a way for using "evidential systems" as supporting tool for designers.
