This mineral variety was found associated with columbite, zircon, magnetite, garnet, goethite, ilmenite, hematite and mica. In the representative composite sample of these sediments, samarskite–Y was found to assay 1.5% by weight. Both microscopic examination and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) were used to identify and describe the studied mineral variety, while the electron microprobe analysis was applied to determine its empirical formula. Size analysis of the representative samarskite-Y stream sample revealed its wide distribution in almost all size fractions with an increased tendency to concentrate in the small sizes. The investigated mineral variety is moderately paramagnetic and its magnetic susceptibility is lower than that of the associated columbite. Accordingly, it would be possible to obtain a rich samar...

The mineral is associated with columbite, zircon, monazite, cassiterite, ilmenite and rutile. The mineralogy and geochemistry of the studied samarskite variety were determined using microscopic examination and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) as well as quantitative analysis by both Field emission scanning electron microscope and electron microprobe analysis. Microscopic investigation revealed that the defined samarskite crystals are characteristically velvet-yellow brown to bloody red in color and having a characteristic pendent vitreous or resinous luster. Analytical data confirmed the presence of samarskite-Y whose composition corresponding to empirical formula: [(Y 0.42 , REE 0.44 , Th 0.076 , Si 0.05 , Ca 0.007 , U 0.07 , Fe 0.077) ∑ 1.15 (Nb 0.81 , Ta 0.04 , Ti 0.14) ∑ 0.86 O 4 ]. Accordingly, the mineralized Umm Lassifa pegmatite can be considered as a promising target ore for its rare-metal mineralization that includes mainly Nb, Ta, Y, REE and Zr together with U and Th.

The studied mineralization was found as distinguishable megascopic crystals scattered within the pegmatitic bodies of Gabal Samma granite and reach up to tens of centimeters. The mineralogy and geochemistry of the studied rare metal mineralization were determined using microscopic examination and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) as well as scanning electron microscope (SEM). These minerals include a unique occurrence of colored ishikawaite (uraniumrich samarskite) together with fergusonite-Y, allanite, titanite, zircon-thorite association, uranothorite and fluorite. The obtained SEM data for the studied minerals are showing the compositional limits of these minerals as specified in the literature. The occurrence of colored ishikawaite varieties (light brown, reddish dark brown and dar...

This type of mineralization was recorded as distinguishable mega-crystals scattered within the pegmatite. Detailed mineralogical investigation was carried out using different analytical techniques as: microscopic examinations, x-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) providing with energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) unite. These studies revealed the presence of several valuable minerals like Euxenite and Fergusonite as well as; gives a clear comparative idea on the mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of the Nb-Ta oxides.

In this occurrence, the uranium assumes different forms, including its presence as discrete, visible, secondary minerals, rare uraninite and its association with the jasperoid and silica veinlets. However, in some other parts of the sheared zone, the uranium was found to be solely incorporated with fluorite crystals, filling veinlets and fractures without any other manifestation. This paper focuses on the relevant mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of this unique fluorite variety. In addition to an investigation with binocular and polarizing microscopes, the separated fluorite grains were analyzed using an environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) and a field-emission scanning electron microscope. In addition to this, some fluorite crystals were subjected to electron microprobe analyses. While the fluorite accounted for as muc...
Occurrence and mineralogy of economically important rare-metal mineralization from pegmatite of W... more Occurrence and mineralogy of economically important rare-metal mineralization from pegmatite of Wadi El Sheih granite, Central Eastern Desert of Egypt, was previously discussed. The mineralogical investigation of the bulk composite sample collected from the studied pegmatite revealed the presence of 7.59% by mass heavy economic polymetallic minerals such as euxenite-(Y), fergusonite-(Y), allanite-(Ce), xenotime-(Y), uranothorite and zircon. This work investigated the use of high intensity magnetic separator in conjunction with gravity pre-concentration steps via shaking table concentrator to recover rare-metals and rare earth bearing mineralization of Wadi El Sheih pegmatitic granitoid sample. The results of magnetic separation are related to the magnetic susceptibility measurements of pure single crystal minerals using vibrating sample magnetometer instruments.

Reaction of 3 with heterocyclic diazonium salts 6, 7, 14 and 17 furnished the corresponding hydrazones 8, 9, 15 and 18. The latter hydrazones underwent intramolecular cyclization into the corresponding pyrazolo[5,1- c]-1,2,4-triazine 10, 1,2,4-triazolo[5,1-c]-1,2,4-triazine 11, 1,2,4-triazino[4,3-b]indazole 16 and imidazo[2,1-c]-1,2,4-triazine 19 derivatives, respectively upon refluxing in pyridine.

Also, the synthetic potential of the β-enaminonitrile moiety in 3a-c has been explored; it proved to be a promising candiate for the synthesis of 1,6-disubstituted-2,4-diamino-7,8-dihydro-8-oxopyrrolo[1,2-a]thieno[2,3-e]pyrimidine derivatives 10a-f and pyrido[2′,3′:6,5]pyrimido[3,4-a]benzimidazole derivatives 12a,b.
