RC tears are also rampantly prevalent with an age-dependent increase in numbers. Other associated factors include a history of trauma, limb dominance, contralateral shoulder, smoking-status, hypercholesterolemia, posture and occupational dispositions. The challenge lies in early diagnosis since a high proportion of patients are asymptomatic. Pain and decreasing shoulder power and function should alert the heedful practitioner in recognizing promptly the onset or aggravation of existing RC tears. Aim of the work: The present study aims to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis about arthroscopic repair outcomes in patients with full thickness rotator cuff tear, using double row suture anchor techniques. Patients and Methods: Systematic review and Meta-analysis study. The literature search identified 50 studies for consideration; however, 7 studies we...

To maintain the true type quality fruit; tissue culture technique could be used for the vegetative propagation of jackfruit throughout the year. Healthy and juvenile shoot tips and nodal segments were collected during the four different seasons (winter, spring, summer and autumn) and were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium. Explants, which were collected in winter gave the highest survival percentage (100%) without browning of explants. Also, the explants collected in winter gave the highest growth to survival percentage (90 and 50% for shoot tips and nodal segments, respectively). Shoots could be multiplied on MS medium supplemented with 6-bezylaminopurine (BA) (0.0, 1.0, 2.0 and 5.0 mg/l) and kinetin (Kn) (0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 mg/l). It has become common to get a fake certificate, that claims an individual has graduated from a public/private university, and apply for jobs easily and be considered as qualified as someone who has a legit certificate. Blockchain, which is known for its reliability and trust, is used as a solution for that problem. The proposed system aims at creating digital certificates for Egyptian higher education as a solution for the forgery problem. This proposed system enables the tracking of a student's certificates; hence, the organizations and institutions can verify the obtained certificates. The proposed system is implemented using Linux Foundation's Hyperledger Fabric.

Research paper thumbnail of A novel cuckoo search algorithm with adaptive discovery probability based on double Mersenne numbers

Neural Computing and Applications, 2021

Cuckoo search algorithm is one of the most prominent meta-heuristic optimization algorithms which... more Cuckoo search algorithm is one of the most prominent meta-heuristic optimization algorithms which is applied to various applications. The discovery probability is the one and the only tuning parameter of the cuckoo search algorithm. The physical meaning of this parameter contradicts its implementation in the standard algorithm. Therefore, this study concerns the correction to the definition and implementation of the cuckoo search algorithm to resolve this conflict. Moreover, a novel algorithm called double exponential cuckoo search is proposed, in which the discovery probability became adaptive based on the concept of the double Mersenne numbers. The proposed algorithm is compared to nine other variants to find the best variant that makes the discovery probability adaptive. All the variants are compared and tested on 30 and 50 dimensions of CEC2017 benchmark functions. The results have been statistically proved using the sign test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and Friedman test. Moreover, multiple graphical methods are also used to visualize the median performance such as Violin plots and mean convergence graphs. Simulation results prove the superior performance of the proposed algorithm over all other variants.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of pregnancy and breastfeeding on MS and vice versa. A retrospective observational study was conducted to include MS women with a history of at least one pregnancy during the last 7 years. Data were collected from the archived files in addition to a self-administrating questionnaire. The annualized relapsing rate (ARR) was calculated before, during, and after pregnancy. Results We included 116 successful pregnancies from 93 MS women with mean age 32.74 ± 5.12 years. Interferon-beta was the commonly used DMT during and after pregnancy. Despite the ARR during the two years preceding the conception was 0.36 (95% CI 0.32–0.41), this rate was significantly decreased during first, second, ...

Research paper thumbnail of Polarization Guided Autoregressive Model for Depth Recovery

IEEE Photonics Journal, 2017

Haze due to atmospheric absorption and scattering causes degradation in image quality and the estimated depth. This estimated depth is misrepresented due to high degree of polarization and scene's objects directly illuminated by the sun. In this paper, a polarization guided autoregressive (AR) model for depth recovery is presented. This proposed method restores the estimated depth map by incorporating polarized data to an adaptive AR model. First a 90°polarized image is used in our polarization term of AR coefficient, then the Stokes vector component S 1 is used in our polarization guided depth map in the depth term of AR coefficient. The experimental results show that our method outperforms existing state-of-the-art schemes and improves conventional polarization dehazing method.

For this reason, we introduce a new variant of CSA called Damped Cuckoo Search (DCS) in which the step size of Lévy flight is adaptive via the concept of damped oscillations that exist in most second order control systems. Moreover, we propose two other methods that tune the step size of Lévy flight based on chaotic maps. Then a deep comparative study is conducted among almost all variants of CSA that appeared in the last decade that modifies the step size of Lévy flight. All these variants are tested on CEC2017 benchmark functions. Statistical analyses are performed using the Friedman test followed by four post-hoc procedures to hold paired comparisons between the proposed DCS and the other CSA variants. Also, graphical statistical analyses are conducted on all variants via Box Plots. Finally, convergence graphs for all the variants are illustrated as well to show the speed of solution improvement over generations. Simulation results prove that the proposed DCS outperforms all other variants with a large degree of significance. Moreover, DCS increases the speed of convergence in comparison with the other variants. The box plot graphs prove that DCS has the most compact distribution for all results obtained in all runs on most functions. INDEX TERMS Adaptive step size, box plots, CEC2017 benchmark functions, damped cuckoo search, damped oscillations, Friedman test, global optimization, Lévy flight, multiple chaotic cuckoo search, post-hoc procedures.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is the sixth leading cause of death worldwide because of its complications... more Diabetes mellitus (DM) is the sixth leading cause of death worldwide because of its complications. One of these deadly complications is diabetic nephropathy, the leading cause of end-stage renal disease in the western world. Despite the worldwide acceptance to use albumin-to-creatinine (A/C) ratio and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in clinical settings, there is no trustable and valid biochemical marker that can sensitively detect early stages of diabetic nephropathy. Therefore the early detection of the deterioration in kidney function and the changes in kidney structure before the albumin level becomes significantly high in urine is very important for patient's life. The aim of this review is to summarize some novel clinical and molecular markers being investigated as potential candidates to fill in the gap.

The numerical results of the MOL are compared with the analytical results of the ADM. The method of lines gives accurate results over the Adomian method. In order to show the reliability of the considered methods we have compared the obtained solutions with the exact ones. The results reveal that the method of lines is more effective and convenient than the Adomian decomposition method for solving such type of partial differential equations.

Because of platform constraints, driving new pipe was not an option. Attempts to mill through an obstruction at 600ft were unsuccessful. And because the collapse occurred below the window, it was not possible to recover the damaged conductor and sidetrack. A whipstock system was required that could anchor in the 30-in casing, enabling a full-gauge 16-in window to be milled for sidetracking. However, there are no whipstocks made with anchors large enough to set in 30-in casing. To solve the problem, the service provider proposed running 600ft of 20-in casing inside the 30-in conductor. However, no case histories for dual casing exits at these large sizes were available. Potential problems included ability to mill the 20-in (0.5-in) and 30-in (1.0-in) casing wall thickness; potential mill tracking between the 20-in and 30-in casings; and the availability ...

Document the changes in palatal configuration after different types of palatoplasty. Study Design: A prospective controlled clinical study was performed analyzing video recordings of the soft palate and oropharynx of 251 subjects (121 habitual snorers, 79 patients after laser-assisted uvulopalatoplasty ([LAUP], and 51 healthy volunteers). Methods: The recordings were captured using a rigid endoscope with a reference measure applied to the soft palate and a mark at the junction of the soft and hard palate. Four parameters were studied in the captured pictures after correction for the distortion deformity in fiberoptic endoscopic images: 1) length of soft palate, 2) length of uvula, 3) width of uvula, and 4) distance between posterior pillars. Results: Analysis showed that habitual snorers, compared with healthy volunteers have significantly increased soft palate length (P = .OOOOl), increased uvula length (P = .OO02) and width (P = .00001), and narrowed oropharyngeal isthmus (distance between the posterior pillars) (P = .M). In patients studied after LAUP, the length of the soft palate is significantly shorter (P = .OOOOl) than in the preoperative cohort, and the oropharyngeal isthmus is significantly narrower (P = .00001). Moreover, this latter distance is significantly narrower (P = .OOOOl) when compared with healthy volunteers. Conclusions: Habitual snorers have a long soft palate, a long wide uvula, and a narrowed oropharyngeal isthmus. LAUP shortens and tightens the elongated palate and causes a further reduction in the space between the posterior pillars.
