ET's non-motor characteristics add to the evidence of clinical variability in ET, a disease with a wide range of pathological and etiological characteristics. Problems in frontal-executive function, comparable to Parkinson's disease (PD), were one of the most common patterns of cognitive affection in ET. ET individuals who started tremor after the age of 65 were 64 to 70% more likely than control subjects to develop dementia, but ET cases who started tremor before the age of 65 have an equal chance to develop dementia as controls. Depression rates were considerably higher in ET than controls and more severe depression is found. A strong evidence linking anxiety and ET. Many studies have documented sleep disturbances in ET.

Within the cortico-Olivo-cerebella-thalamic circuit, the inferior olive could be an oscillator by having pacemaker properties. Despite that, the olivary pacemaker hypothesis faces many contradicting findings against the concept of a single oscillator. The attention has changed from the interactions between the elements and structures of the neural network in which the oscillators are contained to concentrate on its features. These features include the intensity and direction of the connection. Deficiency in the glutamatergic system in ET may be a better explanation for abnormal cerebellar function in ET. A reduction in dentate GABA receptor levels could be a basic defect in this disease. This may be explained by the reduced production of GABA from Purkinje cells at the postsynaptic neurons. This results in the release of deep cerebellar nuclei from previous inhibition. The correlation between genetic abnormalities and cerebellar dysfunction may explain this in the future.

The relation between headache and epilepsy is complicated, and the comorbidity of headache and epilepsy is still poorly understood. Aim of the work: Study of headache characteristics in controlled and uncontrolled epileptic patients. Methods: We evaluated headaches in 100 consecutive patients with epilepsy attending the outpatient clinic and epilepsy clinic at Sohag university hospital and performed interictal EEG to all patients. Results: In our study we found that the occurrence of headaches being linked to longer duration of epilepsy, high frequency of seizures and use of polytherapy of antiepileptics. Conclusion: Control of seizures in epileptic patients help in controlling headaches and decrease its frequency.

Female guinea pigs (n = 24 per dietary group) were fed an iron sufficient (IS) diet (114 mg/kg) or an iron deficient (ID) diet (11.7 mg/kg) during the gestation and lactation periods. Pups in both groups were weaned at PNd9 and given the IS diet. The hematocrit level was measured at every trimester of pregnancy and at the day of sacrifice in dams and at PNd24 and PNd84 in pups. The animal body weight was measured on every second day until the day of sacrifice. The ABR was used in pups to measure the hearing threshold using a broad range of stimulus intensities and latency at 100 and 80 dB in response to 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 kHz tone pips at PNd24 and 84. No significant difference between dietary groups was measured in hearing threshold and...

Previous results from our research group showed that guinea pig offspring born from ID dams were significantly more active in the Open Field Test than the controls. This behavior could potentially be associated to stress. We therefore hypothesized that maternal iron deficiency (MID) elevates the offspring serum cortisol, a biomarker of stress, during childhood and possibly at mature age. Twenty-four female guinea pigs were fed an iron-sufficient (IS) diet (114 mg/kg) or ID diet (11.7 mg/kg) during the gestation and lactation. Pups in both groups were weaned at postnatal day (PNd) 9 and given an IS diet. Hematocrit and serum cortisol levels were measured in dams at every trimester of gestation and in pups at PNd24 and 84. We found no impact of MID on dam's cortisol values. However, our findings indicate that MID increased cort...
