In the PLS method, absorbance measurements were made at λ = 520 nm in the time range 40--440 s with 5 s steps. HPSA method involved standard addition of Al(III) and absorbance measurement after 40 and 140 s. Absorbance measurements were performed in buffered solutions at pH = 4.0 and at temperature of25°C. The proposed methods were applicable in the concentration ranges of 0.1-2.0 and 0.1-3.0 μg mL -1 of Al 3+ and Fe 3+ , respectively. In the analysis of several synthetic samples of iron and aluminum percentage recovery was 90-110%. The contents of aluminum and iron in Portland cement samples were determined in order to investigate applicability of the proposed methods.

Composite solid propellant contains paste suspension of mixtures of different components, e.g. oxidizer, fuel and binder. Increasing the percentage of solid phase without increment of viscosity is an important subject in the production of solid propellant. This problem can be solved using two different particle sizes distribution. Five samples of composite solid propellants on the basis of hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) with 85% of solid phase containing dual sizes of ammonium perchlorate (AP) have been prepared. These samples have different coarse/fine ratios between 80/20 to 60/40. It was found that optimum temperature for casting of propellant is greater than 40C. The best ratio for obtaining the least viscosity is 70/30 coarse/fine ratio.

This method is based upon a simple correlation in which the detonation pressure is interrelated by estimated gaseous detonation products and combustion temperature. Heat of formation calculated by semi-empirical PM3 procedure is used to calculate the combustion temperature. Calculated detonation pressure for known mixtures of CHNO explosives give results in better agreement with measured values than complicated BKW-EOS computer code.

Propellant samples was prepared and aged by an accelerated mechanism in three different temperatures (50, 60 and 70 °C) and times. In the Raman spectrum of the unaged sample, vibrational modes of all structural substances consisting of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene as a binder, ammonium perchlorate (AP) as an oxidizer and aluminum as a metal fuel were observed. Comparison of the spectra of the aged samples shows the changes of several peaks with increasing aging times. The important changes are the elimination of NH3+ mode and intensity reduction of CH2 modes, which can be attributed to oxidative cross linking phenomena due to AP decomposition in the chemical structure. Intensity ratios of C–C, C=C and CH2 have been changed with aging and cross linking so that C=C bonds are converted into C–C bonds, as well as the intensity of CH2 modes, was decreased. A principle component analysis method is implemented in order to use all ranges of the spectrum and better discrimination of the samples, which show good results.

The semi-empirical PM3 procedure has been used for calculating the heat of formation of the explosive which is required for computation of the combustion temperature. Detonation pressures derived in this manner have a simple form.

For this process, suitable solvent and anti-solvent have been chosen. A combination of a supersaturated solution of soluble material and an anti-solvent provides a driving force for the preparation of nanoparticles. During mixing process, the rate of nucleation is relying on saturated solvent. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetry (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) analysis methods are used to characterize nanoparticles.

On the basis of 929 experimental FPs of different alcohols, which were collected from different sources, a new correlation was developed for the estimation of FPs of alcohols. Different alcohols and phenols with various molecular structures were studied, that is, acyclic and cyclic alcohols as well as phenols and alcohols with composite aliphatic–aromatic structures. The new correlation is based on the elemental composition and some structural parameters, such as intermolecular hydrogen bonding, which can be found from the chemical structure of any type of alcohol. The root–mean–square deviation of the new model for external validation data set containing 164 compounds is 16.4 K. Absolute percent error of the new model is >10% in only 24 alcohols and
