This result is true for waves of arbitrary wave vector kkk. This shows that in this limit, the transmission coefficient is always unity while the reflection amplitude is zero for all waves traversing this length LLL. Therefore, a free space of finite length LLL can be represented as a PTPTPT-symmetric medium.

The need for distributed generation (DG) employing renewable energy sources such as wind, solar and fuel cells has gained significant momentum. Advanced power electronic systems, affordable high performance devices, and smart energy management principles are deemed to be an integral part of renewable, green and efficient energy systems. This paper briefly describes the attributes of DG. An overview of wind, fuel cell, solar based energy conversion systems has been presented. A qualitative description of the role of power electronics in wind, solar, and photovoltaic systems has been presented.

In this study we aim to analyze association between anti-HCV therapy and tumor pattern of HCV related HCC patients. Methods Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) patients with seropositivity for hepatitis C virus (HCV) antibodies, registered at three tertiary care hospitals of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Pakistan during August 2017 to July 2018 were enrolled. Selected patients were then segregated in two groups on the basis of their HCV treatment history i.e., “TN” (HCV Treatment Naïve i.e. having no history/medical record for treatment prior to HCC diagnosis) and “TH” (Treated for HCV infection). Aggressiveness index (AgI) scoring system was applied to determine the tumor pattern. Univariat...

System for converting wind energy into electrical energy contains a guide web, wind energy conversion modules, including wind energy receivers, made with the ability to move along the guide web due to wind power, and a device for controlling and coordinating the motion of the wind energy conversion modules, the guiding web is associated with a contact guide interacting with the wind energy conversion modules to generate an electric current when the energy conversion modules move. In this case, the device for controlling and coordinating the movement of the modules is configured to change the number of working modules by adding additional modules to the guide web or the withdrawal of modules from the guide web, depending on the wind conditions of the current time. Device for controlling and coordinating the movement of the modules is configured to continuously change the speed of each module, depending on the wind conditions of the current time, continuous change in the orientation of each receiver of wind energy relative to the wind, depending on the wind conditions of the current time and a continuous change in the aerodynamic profile and / or wing area of each module, depending on the wind conditions of the current time.EFFECT: invention is aimed at increasing the coefficient of wind energy use.20 cl, 6 dwg

In case of Induction type wind energy converter reactive power management in cost effective way is essential. In many wind farm wind energy converter using Synchronous generator and Induction generator are used. Use of Synchronous generator leads to distortion of wave shape and are sensitive to grid disturbances. Considering the challenges to be faced related to interfacing of large wind farms using Induction and Synchronous generators, it is necessary to study the different wind generator systems and their comparisons. The wind energy conversion system is demanded to be more cost competitive, so that comparisons of different wind generator systems are necessary. An overview of different wind generator systems and their comparisons are presented. Also Critical Power Quality issues & Problems related with Grid connections are also discussed.

Th is study examined the risk of fractures and osteoporosis in chronic pancreatitis patients with known exocrine insuffi ciency. Methods: Patients with chronic pancreatitis and exocrine insuffi ciency (previously diagnosed with endoscopic ultrasound and pancreatic function testing) underwent Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scans to evaluate for osteoporosis and had a FRAX® score calculated to assess their fracture risk. Nutritional status was also measured using the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST). Results: 12.5% (2/16) of the patients from our chronic pancreatitis clinic were found to have osteoporosis and 68.8% (11/16) were found to have osteopenia based on DEXA scans. Based on the FRAX® score, the average 10-year major osteoporotic fracture risk was 5.5 ± 2.8% and the average 10-year hip fracture risk was 1.4 ± 2.1%. Th ere was no signifi cant correlation with level of malnutrition based on the MUST screen with T scores (r=0.11, p < 0.74) or FRAX® scores (r=0.49, p < 0.13 for major osteoporotic fracture risk and r=0.29, p < 0.38 for hip fracture risk). See Figure 1. Conclusion: Th ere was no signifi cant correlation with nutritional status and osteoporosis or fracture risk. Th is likely refl ects the multi-faceted nature of osteoporosis and emphasizes that malabsorption remains a theoretical risk factor for decreased bone mineral density. A recent case-matched study demonstrated an association between abnormal bone turnover and decreased bone mineral density in chronic pancreatitis patients, but what remains unclear is if this process is secondary to malabsorption or infl ammation. While larger studies will need to be conducted to establish the link between malabsorption and decreased bone mineral density, this study highlights the importance in screening for osteopenia and osteoporosis in this population.

The FACTS devices control the interrelated parameters that rule the operation of the transmission... more The FACTS devices control the interrelated parameters that rule the operation of the transmission systems, including the serial impedance, the derivation impedance, the current, the tension, the phase angle and the muffling of oscillations to different frequencies under the nominal frequency. The FACTS technology has a collection of controllers, that can be used individually or coordinated with other controls installed in the network, thus permitting to profit better of the network's characteristics of control. The configurations of compensators based on switched inverters, called static compensators of reactive power, are today the most used in the electric current transmission systems. The apparition of high-powered electronic converters, makes possible the generation or absorption of reactive power without using banks of condensers or inductors. The STATCOM is a device connected in derivation that can operate in networks of transport as well as of distribution. The functions will depend on the type of network in which it will be installed, it could fulfill functions of reactive power control and tension regulation, or other functions as power factor regulator, shock absorber of system oscillations or filtering of harmonics, depending on the systems applications and the tension level we wish to install.
