Fault tolerance and quality of service issues are potential challenges for NoCs. In this paper, we propose a cost-effective fault tolerant routing algorithm for irregular 2D mesh without use of routing tables. We use one hop visibility of Logic Based Distributed Routing (LBDR) to eliminate routing tables. This algorithm handles one or multiple single link faults within 2D mesh and uses reconfigured paths (minimal and/or non-minimal), if links fail. We use turn model based approach to avoid deadlocks. Since our method does not require virtual channels to achieve deadlock freedom, it remains area and power efficient.

Aims and Scope Agroforestry, the purposeful growing of trees and crops in interacting combination... more Aims and Scope Agroforestry, the purposeful growing of trees and crops in interacting combinations, began to attain prominence in the late 1970s, when the international scientific community embraced its potentials in the tropics and recognized it as a practice in search of science. During the 1990s, the relevance of agroforestry for solving problems related to deterioration of family farms, increased soil erosion, surface and ground water pollution, and decreased biodiversity was recognized in the industrialized nations too. Thus, agroforestry is now receiving increasing attention as a sustainable land-management option the world over because of its ecological, economic, and social attributes. Consequently, the knowledge-base of agroforestry is being expanded at a rapid rate as illustrated by the increasing number and quality of scientific publications of various forms on different aspects of agroforestry. Making full and efficient use of this upsurge in scientific agroforestry is both a challenge and an opportunity to the agroforestry scientific community. In order to help prepare themselves better for facing the challenge and seizing the opportunity, agroforestry scientists need access to synthesized information on multi-dimensional aspects of scientific agroforesty. The aim of this new book-series, Advances in Agroforestry, is to offer state-of-the art synthesis of research results and evaluations relating to different aspects of agroforestry. Its scope is broad enough to encompass any and all aspects of agroforestry research and development. Contributions are welcome as well as solicited from competent authors on any aspect of agroforestry. Volumes in the series will consist of reference books, subject-specific monographs, peer-reviewed publications out of conferences, comprehensive evaluations of specific projects, and other book-length compilations of scientific and professional merit and relevance to the science and practice of agroforestry worldwide.

Research paper thumbnail of Effect of Natural Graphite Particle size in friction materials on thermal localisation phenomenon during stop-braking

Wear, 2010

Thermal localisation (TL) phenomenon is defined as localisation of high temperature as consequenc... more Thermal localisation (TL) phenomenon is defined as localisation of high temperature as consequences of high strain gradients developed in the bulk of materials of a tribo-pair. High extent of localisation of thermal gradient is rated as a non-desirable parameter for a good friction material because it affects both the surfaces leading to thermal crazing, cracks and fatigue, especially of the disc apart from affecting wear. In the present work, four composites with identical parent composition (containing ingredients of all the four categories) but differing in the average particle size of natural graphite (21, 41, 71 and 137 m) were developed and evaluated on specially designed tribometer for enabling the studies of TL phenomenon. Two series of testing modes viz. inertia mode and rpm-mode were selected to bring out the correlation of selected graphite and their tendency to produce hot bands, hot spots and related phenomena on the counter-face. Overall, it was observed that the composites with lower particle size of graphite rendered better results than that with higher particle size. The study of hot-spot appearance and the TL behavior of tribo-pair are discussed in details in the paper.

The production of DME from syngas is exothermic in nature overall, and has a narrow operational window in fixed-bed reactors. Consequently, fluidized-bed reactors, which have high heat and mass transfer efficiencies, are major current areas of investigation for DME production from syngas. In the present paper, the comprehensive reactor model proposed by Mahecha-Botero et al. [1] has been modified and employed to simulate DME synthesis in a fluidized-bed reactor. The modified model has been employed under various operating conditions to maximize CO conversion (X CO), DME productivity and DME selectivity with respect to methanol.
