Various approaches have been put forward to design professional development programs that help in preparing nurses to work in the field and ongoing training programs to keep them up to each new method and technique at the interpersonal improvement level. Objective To develop and validate a questionnaire that tests the communication and management skills, emotional intelligence, and confidentiality of nurses in Lebanon. Methods The questionnaire, consisting of 25 statements, was generated and developed by experts in the field of nursing, soft skills, and questionnaire development. The items of the questionnaire were assessed using face, content, and construct validity and data validation was examined through psychometric properties at the final stage of the validation. Internal consistency and reliability were assessed through Cronbach alpha ([Formula: see text]). Further analyses w...

With the growing need for economical and energy-efficient space heating solutions, heat pumps (HP) have emerged as a promising alternative for residential heating systems playing a crucial role in the global shift to a more sustainable heating technology. This review paper presents a thorough analysis of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) techniques applied to domestic HP, by (i) examining the existing literature on LCAs conducted for domestic HP, aiming to assess their environmental effect across their life cycle stages ; (ii) discussing the key environmental indicators and parameters commonly assessed in LCAs for domestic HP such as Coefficient of Performance and refrigerants ; (iii) stating the challenges in conducting LCAs for these systems. This study highlights the necessity for standardized methodologies and data quality refinements and offers recommendations for future research directions to support the development of sustainable heating technologies in residential structures. In conclusion, the LCA conducted on HP reveals valuable insights to improve their environmental impact across various stages.

They play a key role in the diagnosis, the treatment, and the rehabilitation of the medical impairment and diseases. However, as any operating machine, medical equipment would have a definite lifespan that expires after a period of time. Theoretically, Taylor K. specified ten years as the lifespan of medical equipment. In fact, the status of the medical equipment defines its age. This status should be addressed according to a list of criteria that evaluate the efficiency and the performance of these equipment. The purpose of this study is to develop a welldesigned plan for evaluating medical equipment. According to this evaluation, we can rank the equipment that should be replaced in the descending order of urgency taking into account many criteria and sub-criteria.

To measure employees’ perceptions of their jobs, in the mid 1970’s Hackman and Oldham developed the Job Diagnostic Survey based on the Job Characteristics Theory (JCT). The JCT remains one of the most suitable and widely accepted theories in the field of organizational behavior since it provides a model to perform work design through a set of implementing principles for enriching jobs. The model was tested for the first time ever in a Lebanese university by conducting the standard job diagnostic survey on 294 academic faculty members who work at the Lebanese International University (LIU), Lebanon’s largest private university. A standardized scale that assesses the motivating potential score of the job was used and the scores of different academic staff occupying various jobs across several schools varied significantly on all the job characteristics.

Recently, ISO has been expanding its activities into other topics related to social and environmental policy. ISO 9001 is one of the most well-known and widely implemented international standards of quality. Since its first inception in 1987, ISO 9001 has been modified four times in order to cover a wider variety of sectors. Through its evolution till 2015, ISO 9001 has been considered as a standard that may be suitable to meet higher educational organizations needs and requirements. Consequently, a significant number of higher education institutions induced the confidence of their stakeholders by implementing ISO 9001 into their systems. However, the contribution of the Lebanese educational institutions is still limited and exclusive to a ...

To estimate the prevalence of symptomatic dry eye disease (DED) in four Middle Eastern Countries ... more To estimate the prevalence of symptomatic dry eye disease (DED) in four Middle Eastern Countries and investigate the association between behavioral-based risk factors and severity of DED. Patients and Methods: Population-based cross-sectional study of 1463 participants from 4 Mediterranean countries (Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Palestine). The Arabic version of the Ocular Surface Disease Index (ARB-OSDI) questionnaire was used to estimate the prevalence and severity of symptomatic DED using an online format survey. The survey also included demographic questions and possible behavioral risk factors (tobacco and cosmetic use). One-Way ANOVA and multivariate regression analyses were used to investigate the association between OSDI mean scores and behavioral-based risk factors. Results: The prevalence of symptomatic DED (OSDI score ≥ 13) among the overall population (332 males and 1132 females) reached 70.2%. Tobacco and cosmetic users reported a higher significant prevalence and severity of symptomatic DED than non-users (p < 0.0001). Smoking habits (eg, smoking cigarettes or Ajami, smoking in closed areas, and daily smoking) were more likely to report symptomatic DED. Bad hygiene process during the use of any cosmetic product was behind the high prevalence and severity of symptomatic DED among the females of the study population. Conclusion: Symptomatic DED is substantial in Middle Eastern countries. It is statistically associated with cosmetic and tobacco use.
