Two decomposition processes were identified; one process yields ammonia and chlorine dioxide as the principal products. The other process yields as major products Nz, HzO, Cl2, and ",NO,. All the products and intermediates listed, with the exception of NHdN03, were identified by mass spectrometry and additionally the identification of NHdN03, C102, HNO, HzO and NHS were confirmed by their infrared spectra. On the basis of the observed intermediates and products formed, a reaction sequence is suggested.
