This increase in life expectancy has caused an increased risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Lipid metabolism could be affected by the virus itself or antiretroviral medications. In this study, an attempt was made to investigate the effect of first- and second-line HIV medications on lipid profile in HIV/AIDS patients. Methods: The present study is a retrospective cohort study. The medical records of 66 AIDS patients older than 18 years, who referred to the Behavioral Counseling Center of Imam Khomeini Hospital during the years 2009 to 2014, were retrieved. The patients were assigned into two groups including first- (36 patients) and second-line (30 patients) treatment groups. To ensure that the patients’ baseline information was matched, demographic information and baseline lipid profile were compared between two groups and no signific...

Research paper thumbnail of Polymer Coatings Containing ITO Nanoparticles: Effective Factors on Conductivity and Optical Properties

Key Words ITO nanoparticle, sheet electrical resistance, conductive coating, optical transparency... more Key Words ITO nanoparticle, sheet electrical resistance, conductive coating, optical transparency, conductivity Polymerization Quarterly, 2016 Volume 6, Number 3 Pages 55-62 P olymers usually have high resistance to electricity flow. Electrical conductivity of polymers could be changed utilizing fillers. One of these fillers, indium tin oxide (ITO), has many different applications in various fields due to its relatively low electrical resistance and its ability to impart transparency and clear coatings. Electrically conductive transparent coatings containing ITO nanoparticles can be prepared via sol-gel technique (low temperature) and cured by UV irradiation and/or by post curing at low temperature and reduction under a passage of gas (such as N 2) on polymeric substrates. Fluence of UV irradiation is an effective parameter on surface morphology of polymeric samples. Photo-degradation of coatings may occur at high irradiation fluence due to the photons leaked from polymeric substrat...

This synthetic route makes use of a novel precursor viz. metal fumarato hydrazinate which decomposes autocatalytically after ignition to yield nanosized spinel ferrite. The X-ray powder diffraction of the “as prepared” oxide confirms the formation of monophasic nanocrystalline cobalt nickel ferrite. The thermal decomposition of the precursor has been studied by isothermal, thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis. The precursor has also been characterized by FTIR, and chemical analysis and its chemical composition has been fixed as Co0.6Ni0.4Fe2(C4H2O4)3·6N2H4. The Curie temperature of the “as prepared” oxide was determined by ac susceptibility measurements.

Tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAOH) was used as template. The effects of organic and inorganic cations as well as crystallization conditions including aging time, synthesis time, and synthesis temperature on size of the zeolites were studied. The crystallite size was adjusted by varying the compositions of synthesis gel and also crystallization conditions. The final products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The obtained results showed that zeolite size decreases significantly and zeolite size distribution becomes narrow by increasing aging time, and organic cation content. Moreover, the zeolite crystallite size increases significantly by increasing inorganic cation content. It was found that reaction time has a great effect on crystallinity of the synthesized zeolites. It was indicated that nucleation is completed after 3 days and no further nucleation occurs after.
