Web services is an emerging technology holding tremendous promise as a platform neutral, easy to implement mechanism to achieve information and business process integration in the extended enterprise. In this paper, we review how Web services in consonance with other technologies can prove to be an effective business enabler for the retail business when adopted in a phased manner.

The model gives an implementation independent description of the problem. Several timing and structural properties can be proved using the model, it can also be useful for comparing alternative designs. A trivial example demonstrates the use of the model. The paper ends with discussion of related papers and some future problems.

The application side of the language is obt ained as a further abstraction of the Quirk 's model , consequently it takes into account timing re strictions on execution and communication of functional tasks of the distributed control system. The paper concludes with an example of deducing a deadlock condition from the description of distributed control system.

In this paper we consider some problems arised by implementation of this concept. To describe and analyse practically achievable synchronization of events, several intervals (tolerance, equivalence, and simultaneity intervals) are defined. The mutual relation of these intervals enable us to analyse adequacy of events in the control object, in the specification and in the computer system. The use of channels for data communication is also described. A detailed functioning of different types of channels is analysed and some details of their implementation are discussed. Data communication can be reduced to send primitive without waiting for positive acknowledgement. The message validity time, necessary for reliable communication, is obtained from the specification.

New methods for software development are emerging, the most promising of them being those based on using formal models for specification. In this paper three formal models (the aggregate model, ?etri nets, the Quirk's illodel) are applied for describing a part of a control system for oil cracking catalyst production process. The aim is to investigate suitabi li ty of models from control eng ineer' s and programmer's point of views.

Specialisation is mainly concentrated to Process Management, Exception Handling and operator-RTOS interface. It is concluded that dedicated RTOS, absolutely necessary in some cases, has in all applications certain advantag e s. Consequently, the possibility to dedicate an ope rating system should be considered as an essential RTOS design problem.
