It shows that library software is an essential ingredient in the operations of libraries of the present age. The chapter described the various types of software that are adopted and used by libraries of all types. The chapter also highlighted some of the features of library software. The chapter encourages libraries to do a background study on any form of library software before adoption or use in order to get the best of productivity from the library.

The continuous adoption and use of technology in education has necessitated the need for computer... more The continuous adoption and use of technology in education has necessitated the need for computer use skills to all stakeholders in the educational sector. Apparently, education in the present age is characterized by the adoption and use of technology. Bells University of Technology, Ota, is a private institution that have demonstrated the use of technology in teaching, learning and research processes. This work is thereby aimed at determining students' ability to use educational technologies using Bells University of Technology as a case study. A structured questionnaire was adopted and used to generate inferences from 300 students that served as the population of the study. Findings revealed that the computer ability of a significant number (75%) of the newly admitted students is low and that will have an adverse effect on their ability to cope with a computerized educational system. This study took a giant step in determining the various expectations from the generalities of sof... more This study took a giant step in determining the various expectations from the generalities of software adopted and used by libraries and information centers. The paper accords librarians with first-hand information to assess all forms of software before eventual adoption for use. The various types of library software adopted for use by Nigerian Libraries were highlighted. Also, the need to conduct Software Feasibility Study was highlighted. The study argued that software adoption and use could make or mar the operations of any library if necessary machineries are not considered at the point of adoption and or use of the software. The study also presented a model used in describing how library software are expected to operate. The work concluded that software adoption and use are essential in modern day's libraries and it also caution libraries to be weary of software adoption as this is capable of causing more harms than good if appropriate measures are not put into consideration.
