In this paper, we provide a comprehensive survey of recent research activities in the VLB field. After describing the principles of operation and the main enabling technologies, we classify the existing VLB techniques according to several features, discussing their merits and limitations. Moreover, we introduce the potential applications of VLB techniques in several IoT domains. Finally, we present the main open

We select four diversity attributes namely, gender, age, tenure, and education diversity to find its impact of corporate investment. Further, we classify these four diversity attributes into surface-level and deep-level diversity to check its impact on investment. Analyzing Chinese non-financial firms over the period of 2003 to 2017, we employ fixed effect regression to test the formulated hypotheses. We deal with the endogeneity concerns and employ several robustness tests. We find that board gender, tenure, and education diversity reduce corporate investment level. Further, we find that gender and age diversity are negatively associated with sensitivity of investment to growth opportunities, while tenure and education diversity are positively related to investment-Q sensitivity. We find that surface-level diversity reduces the sensitivity of investment to growth opportunities, while deep-level ...

Grain yield and different yield components of wheat, such as number of fertile tillers, grain/spike and 1000-grain weight, and spike length showed no significant either promotive or suppressive effect with the application of 0, 50 and 100% aqueous leaf extract of neem. However, the aqueous leaf extract of neem did not inhibit the wheat yield and yield components. Natural weedicide (aqueous leaf extract of neem) certainly had no polluting effect of chemicals on the wheat quality.

The demonstrated approach in this paper makes the mixed CNT bundle adaptable to adopt for high-speed very-large-scale integration (VLSI) interconnects with technology shrinkage. To reduce the delay of the proposed configuration of the mixed CNT bundle, the behavioral change of resistance (R), inductance (L), and capacitance (C) has been observed with respect to both the width of the bundle and the diameter of the CNTs in the bundle. Consequently, the performance of the modified bundle configuration is compared with a previously developed configuration, namely, squarely packed bundles of dimorphic MWCNTs in terms of propagation delay and crosstalk delay at local-, semiglobal-, and global-level interconnects. The proposed bundle configuration is, ultimately, enacted as the b...

Tin antimony sulphide thin films have been synthesized as an absorber layer for solar cells. Thes... more Tin antimony sulphide thin films have been synthesized as an absorber layer for solar cells. These films are deposited by vacuum thermal evaporation on glass substrate at a pressure of 10 -5 torr. The films are then annealed at different temperatures in argon atmosphere. XRD analysis reveals that both as deposited and annealed films are found to be in polycrystalline phase. The crystallinity of the films is significantly enhanced with increasing annealing temperatures. The quantum efficiency is higher in the visible and near infrared region for the annealed films whereas the quantum efficiency of as deposited film is comparatively lower. The transmittance of the annealed films is found to be decreasing with increasing temperatures. The thickness and band gap of the films are measured by ellipsometric data. The absorption coefficient of the films is significantly higher (~10 5 cm -1 ), which is very important factor regarding solar conversion efficiency. Hot point probe measurements ...

At some point during this evolution, the variety of customer needs and increased system complexity suggests the consideration of a software product line (SPL).Aim: The goal of this research is to support the decision maker facing the enhancement of an evolving software system (ESS) by determining the most appropriate product line design (out of a given set of candidate SPL portfolios) to minimize the technical risk and maximize the business value.Method: The proposed method called OPTESS is aimed at finding an evolution plan for the ESS which optimizes both the given technical and business objectives. Business analysis using a value-based pricing mechanism is applied to a set of initially proposed SPL portfolios (for enhancing the ESS) such that profit is maximized. In the present study, we recruited two consanguineous pedigree showing pain insensitivity symptoms from Pakistan for clinical and molecular investigations. In family A, one female patient displayed classical CIPA symptoms along with microcephaly and severe intellectual disability. During course of the disease, her right foot was amputated and had remarkable dental degeneration and teeth shedding. The extracts were investigated for its antioxidant activity using 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picryal-hydrazyl (DPPH) method. The crude fractions evaluated were n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl actate and water. The ethyl acetate extracts from S.eruca at 500µg/mL exhibited highest 79.11% DPPH activity fallowed by chloroform showing 67.19%. The other extracts of plants also showed significant antioxidant activity. (Riaz Ullah, Jameel A. Khader, Naser M. AbdEIslam, Farman Ullah, Muhammad Ullah, Kamin Khan, Sultan Ayaz. For this purpose, 30 genotypes collected from different sources were tested in a randomized complete block design. The phenotypic correlations among the yield traits and their path coefficient were estimated. Grain yield was significantly correlated with its component characters; number of productive tillers per plant, number of grains per panicle and flag leaf area. Path analysis revealed that days to maturity had the highest direct effect (0.751) on grain yield per plant. In addition, the yield components had positive direct effect on grain yield except the days to heading (-0.834). The order of yield components was the number of productive tillers per plant, flag leaf area and 1000 grain weight. The improvement in grain yield will be efficient if the selection is based on biological yield components, number of productive tiller...

Research paper thumbnail of Promoting conjunctive water use with pressurized irrigation systems: Water demand management through intermittent irrigation

Supplemental irrigation has become a prerequisite to minimize risks of crop failures in both rain... more Supplemental irrigation has become a prerequisite to minimize risks of crop failures in both rainfed and irrigated agricultural areas, and usually, surface irrigation, in which the entire or most crop area is flooded, is used for irrigating these croplands. More often, however, the water management skills on the farm are lacking and water supplies may be uncertain, and so irrigation efficiency tends to be low. The amounts of water used for irrigation are usually large, and small gains in irrigation efficiency would produce significant increases in water saving. Increased irrigation efficiency also decreases the energy costs of pumping and providing water for irrigation. Several areas of the Indus Basin, Pakistan are susceptible to non-point source groundwater contamination from crop production under current conjunctive water application. The sustainability of groundwater resource is under threat especially in shallow fresh groundwater aquifers, inland as well as at the coastal regio...

Many sources started publishing digital versions of news articles online to vast users through a variety of devices, i.e. television channels, magazines, and newspapers. It is observed that the news articles available can be very huge and recommendation systems can help to recommend relevant news to the news readers by filtering news articles based on some predefined criteria or similarity measure, i.e. collaborative filtering or content-based filtering approach. The paper presents named entities based similarity measure for linking digital news stories published in various newspapers during the preservation process in a digital news stories archive to ensure future accessibility.
