Research paper thumbnail of Privacy Leakage in Mobile Computing: Tools, Methods, and Characteristics

Today, in many parts of the globe, the penetration of mobile computers has overtaken the number of traditional personal computers. This trend and the always-on nature of these devices have resulted in increasing concerns over the intrusive nature of these devices and the privacy risks that they impose on users or those associated with them. In this paper, we survey the current state of the art on mobile computing research, focusing on privacy risks and data leakage effects. We then discuss a number of methods, recommendations, and ongoing research in limiting the privacy leakages and associated risks by mobile computing.

Membership functions are developed from voltage, frequency and currents at primary side and secondary side of the power transformer. The proposed protection scheme senses the operating conditions and gives trip or no trip signal to the circuit breaker from the fuzzy inference of the small, medium and high values of the membership functions. Simulation results of various operating conditions, shows that the proposed differential relay is reliable, fast and is able to discriminate between internal faults, external faults and magnetizing inrush current. Results also demonstrate selective phase switching and auto-reclosing function of the protection scheme. Fuzzy logics based protection scheme is modeled in MATLAB-SIMULINK environment.

Journal of Advanced Computational Intelligence and Intelligent Informatics, Jul 1, 2014

An efficient super resolution algorithm based on edge direction is proposed based on the dimensio... more An efficient super resolution algorithm based on edge direction is proposed based on the dimensional reduction of color images and 3 types of edge direction. The basic idea is to reduce image – especially color image – dimensions and to interpolate pixels by using 3 simple edge directions – vertical, horizontal, and diagonal. The proposed algorithm conceivably eliminate more color artifacts than Bicubic. The results of experiments using 30 natural images confirm that PSNR of the proposed method achieve the same quality as Fast Curvature Based Interpolation (FCBI). We confirmed that computation time for the proposed method was 40% shorter for RGB and 20% shorter for grayscale images than the previous fastest method, i.e., FCBI. We show efficient panorama image generation based on the proposed super resolution method as one application of our proposal.

This study aims to assess the adherence to these core measures as identified by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)/ American Heart Association (AHA) by physicians of Pakistan. We conducted a cross-sectional study in Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, Pakistan from the period of April 2013 to April 2016. Patients with a primary diagnosis of heart failure were drawn from a coding section of hospital's record department. Data was evaluated to assess how strictly doctors were following core measures identified by JCAHO/AHA for the given diagnosis. Inclusion criteria for this study were patients ≥ 17 years of age and patients with a primary diagnosis of heart failure according to New York Heart Association (NYHA) classification. Patients with congenital anomalies and structural heart wall problems, like sarcoidosis, hemochromatosis, and amyloidosis, were excluded from the study. Mean ejection fraction (EF) was found to be 27.23 ± 11.72 percent. Symptoms assessment of heart failure was done in 16/421 (3.8%) patients according to NYHA classification and in 405/421 (96.2%) patients according to outpatient-based heart failure assessment based on physician's experience other than NYHA classification. Left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) was assessed in 411/421 (97%) patients. Out of these, 336/411 (81.7%) patients had EF < 40%. Mean EF was found to be significantly higher in females as compared to males (p < 0.001). Three hundred and thirty-six out of 411 (81.7%) patients with EF < 40% needed angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) and beta-blocker (BB) prescriptions. ACEi were prescribed only to 230/336 (68.7%) patients and 248/336 (73.8%) patients were given BB with documented contraindication to ACEi and BB in 7.36% and 17% patients, respectively. There was no significant association between gender and mean duration of hospitalization (p = 0.411). No significant association was found between EF ≤ 40% and mean duration of hospitalization (p = 0.426). We found that symptom assessment of congestive heart failure (CHF) patients, according to NYHA guidelines, are strikingly low. Also, a significant percentage of patients who need ACEi and BB are not prescribed the required medications despite echocardiography showing low left ventricular function.

In Process models which are being followed in Software Development requirement gathering process is considered a task. The pace and principles of agile development do not allow developers to maintain a proper set of requirement documentation. Competition to launch their products first in the market has made clients so demanding. As compared to other traditional process models of Software Engineering Agile model in this context has proved its worth. Face to face communication between client and developers sitting at one place, quick iterations/builds has almost finished the requirement of proper structured documentation. Enormous growth in global IT industry has created offshore clients and development resources for many software companies. Many global clients and organizations are out sourcing their projects for better work on cheap rates with high demands. Agile model has certain limitations when development environment is globally distributed and as in most cases client is offshore. Existing agile principles do not support distributed development environment architecture. This paper focuses on the problems that arise w...

Antisynchronization is categorized by the disappearance of the sum of relevant variables. This paper has studied and investigated the global chaos identical Synchronization and Anti-Synchronization (AS) of a new hyperchaotic system via Nonlinear Control. The sufficient conditions for accomplishing the synchronization and AS of two identical hyperchaotic systems are derived based on Lypunov Stability Theory. Numerical simulations and graphs are furnished to show the effectiveness of our proposed approach. All simulations have been done by using mathematica 9.
