The present investigation deals with antimycobacterial activity, in-vitro hemolysis assay, and antioxidant activity of nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO NPs). NiO NPs, with controlled size and shape, prepared by a simple and inexpensive successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method was scanned using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) digital images for surface morphology confirmation. Spherical irregular island-type NPs of about 24 nm diameter are obtained. The X-ray diffraction pattern demonstrates the synthesis of polycrystalline and cubic in phase NiO NPs. The Raman spectrum has revealed the presence of two vibration bands cantered at 550 and 1095 cm−1 for one photon longitudinal optical, and two longitudinal optical modes, respectively. The as-p...

To educate consumers the food label is the most suitable source of information. The primary objective of the current study is to examine how external factors encourage consumers to purchase package food and to what extent consumers' inner voice reply. The model was tested on 467 sample size. For the final analysis SEM AMOS was employed. Results have unfolded the fact that there is partial mediation exist. Conscientiousness has made relation weaken which indicates that although external factors such as attitude towards food label and subjective norms are decisive for informed food choices but personality traits' role is inevitable. The current study has contributed in existing literature but a comprehensive model required in developing consumers' awareness towards selection of right amount package food. Practical: Food processing companies are designing easy to interpretive labels but the understanding of consumers' personality traits can give them competitive edge in market.

It was characterized by analytical and spectroscopic techniques including 1H-NMR, elemental analysis, FT-IR, and UV-Visible studies. Different transition metal ions like Co (II), Ni (II), Cu (II) and Zn (II) were reacted with well characterized ligand to obtain the metal derivatives. AAS, elemental analysis, FT-IR, molar conductance and UV-Visible methods were used to study the metal complexes. The analytical and spectroscopic technique suggested the formation of coordination polymers. The FT-IR results confirmed the bidentate binding of the ligand involving phenolic oxygen and azomethine nitrogen. The UV-visible studies suggested the formation of distorted square planar geometries for all the metal complexes. Hydrazone Schiff bases are known for their antioxidant activ...

Recently, it has been shown that DNN lack robustness against adversarial examples where an adversary can fool the DNN model into incorrect classification by introducing a small imperceptible perturbation to the original example. SON is expected to use DNN for multiple fundamental cellular tasks and many DNN-based solutions for performing SON tasks have been proposed in the literature have not been tested against adversarial examples. In this paper, we have tested and explained the robustness of SON against adversarial example and investigated the performance of an important SON use case in the face of adversarial attacks. We have also generated explanations of incorrect classifications by utilizing an explainable artificial intelligence (AI) technique. This study important for the investor whose want to invest in real assets and financial assets. This study helps investor to achieve the portfolio diversification. This study uses the monthly data of gold prices, KSE100, and oil prices for the period of 2000 to 2010 (monthly). This study applied Descriptive statistics, Augmented Dickey Fuller test Phillip Perron test, Johansen and Jelseluis Co-integration test, Variance Decomposition test to find relationship. This study concludes that Gold prices growth, Oil prices growth and KSE100 return have no significant relationship in the long run. This study provides information to the investors who want to get the benefit of diversification by investing in Gold, Oil and stock market. In the current era Gold prices and oil prices are fluctuating day by day and investors think that stock returns may or may not affected by these fluctuations. This study is unique because it focuses on current issues and takes the current data in this research to help the investment institutions or portfolio managers.

The platform is specifically tailored to the need of sourcing data about scientific publications and researchers from the Web, aggregating them, computing metrics (also complex and ad-hoc ones), and visualizing them. ResEval Mash is a hosted mashup platform with a clientside editor and runtime engine, both running inside a common web browser. It supports the processing of also large amounts of data, a feature that is achieved via the sensible distribution of the respective computation steps over client and server. Our preliminary user study shows that ResEval Mash indeed has the power to enable domain experts to develop own mashups (research evaluation metrics); other mashup platforms rather support skilled developers. The reason for this success is ResEval Mash's domain-specificity.

We discuss the controversial successes and failures in this field and we elaborate on which facilities could foster adoption of end user programming. We discuss various dimensions of end user programming, including vertical versus horizontal language definition, declarative versus imperative approaches. We exemplify our discussion in the realistic scenario of research evaluation by comparing the Search Computing and ResEval approaches.

Research paper thumbnail of Leptin deficiency and leptin gene mutations in obese children from Pakistan

Congenital leptin deficiency is a rare human genetic condition clinically characterized by hyperp... more Congenital leptin deficiency is a rare human genetic condition clinically characterized by hyperphagia and acute weight gain usually during the first postnatal year. The worldwide data on this disorder includes only 14 cases and four pathogenic mutations have been reported in the leptin gene. The objectives of this study were to measure serum leptin levels in obese children and to detect leptin gene mutations in those found to be leptin deficient. A total of 25 obese children were recruited for the study. Leptin deficiency was detected in nine of them. Leptin gene sequencing identified mutations in homozygous state in all the leptin deficient children. Two cases carried novel mutations (c.481_482delCT and c.104_106delTCA) and each of the remaining seven the previously reported frameshift mutation (c.398delG). The results suggest that leptin deficiency caused by mutations in the leptin gene may frequently be seen in obese Pakistani children from Central Punjab.

All 310 cholecystectomies performed during this period were included in this study. The specimens collected were macroscopically examined and sent for histopathology. All the reports were reviewed and the results recorded. Out of 310 cases, 27 (8.7%) had acute cholecystitis and 280 (91.2%) were chronic cholecystitis. 3 specimens got autolysed and therefore excluded from the study. 290 cases had cholelithiasis. 2 out of 290 calculous cases were found to have coexistent carcino...

However, studies in Asian populations revealed conflicting results. We examined the association of rs9939609 variant ofFTOgene with obesity and obesity-related anthropometric and metabolic parameters in Pakistani population. Body weight, height, waist circumference, hip circumference, and blood pressure (BP) were measured. BMI and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) were calculated. Levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG), insulin, leptin, and leptin receptors were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was calculated. The results showed association ofFTOgene, rs9939609, with obesity in females (>18 years of age).FTOminor allele increased the risk of obesity by 2.8 times (95% CI = 1.3–6.0) in females. This allele showed association with body weight, BMI, waist cir...
