The unique double pass optical design eliminates intrinsic acousto-optic interaction-based Doppler shift while a center-path positioned halfwave plate (HWP) greatly reduces polarization dependent loss (PDL) to 0.03 dB. Old ones continue to exist and new ones appear in spite of the tremendous progress achieved by their generic Web-wide rival competitors, because they produce better results in their areas of specialisation. However, finding and choosing the best specialised search engines or systems for a particular information need is difficult. This is made even more complicated by the fact that these engines and systems would want to carve out a niche market that generates maximum revenue for themselves. The ADSA (Adaptive Distributed Search and Advertising) Web research project has investigated the problem at some depth and had put forward a search architecture which allows many search engines to be independently owned and controlled, offering advantages over existing centralised architectures. One aspect of the architecture has been to evaluate the service management algorithms that were designed to support competing autonomous systems in a cooperative marketplace. Here we present ADSA economic model and the service management strategies that can lead to maximum revenue generation, by making informative and intelligent decisions on search price adjustments of key quantitative parameters, as well as the results of evaluation experiments and briefly discuss the need for standardised interfaces which are required if this concept is to ease development and implementation of such a marketplace in a large scale.

Hydrokinetic conversion systems, albeit mostly at its early stage of development, may appear suitable in harnessing energy from such renewable resources. A number of resource quantization and demonstrations have been conducted throughout the world and it is believed that both in-land water resources and offshore ocean energy sector will benefit from this technology. In this paper, starting with a set of basic definitions pertaining to this technology, a review of the existing and upcoming conversion schemes, and their fields of applications are outlined. Based on a comprehensive survey of various hydrokinetic systems reported to date, general trends in system design, duct augmentation, and placement methods are deduced. A detailed assessment of various turbine systems (horizontal and vertical axis), along with their classification and qualitative comparison, is presented. In addition, the progression of technological advancements tracing several decades of R&D efforts are highlighted.

A solution has been proposed in literature, which involves replacing DFT with wavelet packet transform (WPT) in communication systems. WPT does not require CP and has the attraction of having much lower side

A new compact MAX representation for 2-D continuous piecewise-linear (PWL) functions is developed... more A new compact MAX representation for 2-D continuous piecewise-linear (PWL) functions is developed in this paper. The representation is promising since it can be easily generalized into higher dimensions. We also establish the explicit functional form of basis function and demonstrate that the proposed basis function is the elementary ‘building block’ from which a fully general 2-D PWL function can be constructed. In addition, we reveal the relationship of basis function with minimal degenerate intersection and Hinging Hyperplane, which shows that the MAX model can unify Chua's canonical expression, Li's representation, lattice PWL function and Bremann's Hinging Finding Algorithm into one common theoretical framework. This heavy distorted current causes distortion in the system voltage. Owing to the insulation limitations at 11 KV line, it is very taxing for modern power quality analyzers to capture the exact distorted voltage waveform. However the distorted waveform of current with high amplitude, drawn by induction furnace, can be captured by these analyzers by virtue of the appropriate CT ratios of their current clamps. By using the FFT of the distorted current waveform, a new mathematical approach using MATLAB has been developed in this paper for the exact modeling of distorted voltage waveform resulted in by distorted current waveform. Finally, this new approach has further been worked out to derive mathematical relation to compute the THDv which also shows its trend as a function of distance between the supply (utility) and Induction furnace load.
