The objective of this study is to find out the influence of crossword puzzle method to improve th... more The objective of this study is to find out the influence of crossword puzzle method to improve the students' vocabulary mastery. This research is quasi-experimental as the design that used two group pretest and posttest. It means that there were an experimental class and a controlled class which were given pretest and posttest. There were 40 students of class VII of SMPN 4 Pujananting of Barru as the sample in this study. The instrument of this research was a written test, to score the students' vocabulary mastery on pretest and posttest. The result of this research showed that there was a positive effect of the result of students' vocabulary mastery after using crossword puzzle method. Based on the result of the calculation process the researcher gained that in pretest had a mean of 59,05 and the posttest had a mean of 82,20 of experimental class. Based on the finding of this study, it can be concluded that using of crossword puzzle method in improving students' vocabulary mastery is quite success. And after conducting the research and calculating the data, it could be stated that it was effective of using crossword puzzle method on students' of improving vocabulary mastery. Students' vocabulary mastery got a higher score.

Pengelolaan organisasi yang baik akan membuat organisasi berjalan dengan baik. Tapi adanya pandemi Covid-19 menyebabkan perubahan dalam tatanan keorganisasian. Hal ini berdampak pada beberapa organisasi kemasyarakatan tidak berjalan baik. Salah satu organisasi kemasyarakatan yang berdampak itu adalah LSM New Generation Club (NGC). Penulisan artikel ilmiah masih menjadi hambatan bagi para mahasiswa untuk menyelesaikan studi akh... more Penulisan artikel ilmiah masih menjadi hambatan bagi para mahasiswa untuk menyelesaikan studi akhir mereka. Umumnya mereka kesulitan untuk menulis dan mempublikasikan naskah mereka karena mereka belum terlatih atau bahkan mereka tidak perna mempublikasikan tulisan mereka ke journal online. Oleh karena itu, mahasiswa perlu diberikan pelatihan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, pemahaman, dan kompetensi mereka melalui pendampingan penulisan artikel ilmiah. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan, pemahaman, dan peningkatan kompetensi mahasiswa khususnya mahasiswa yang terhimpun dalam organisasi IPMIL Luwu Raya. Mitra pada kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah organisasi IPMIL Luwu Raya dan Enlish Community of Megarezky Kota Makassar Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan, yang terdiri dari 35 peserta. Adapun bentuk kegiatan pengabdian ini terdiri dari (1) Persiapan; (2) Pelaksanaan; dan (3) Evaluasi. Untuk mengukur ketercapaian tujuan kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan instrument soal pretest dan posttest. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh bahwa terjadi peningkatan nilai rerata pretest yang awalnya 38 menjadi 83. Seluruh peserta (100%) memperoleh peningkatan skor nilai pretest-posttest. Tim kegiatan pengabdian menyimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan penulisan artikel ilmiah dengan pemanfaatan aplikasi Publish or Perish dapat meningkatkan kemampuan dan pemahaman mahasiswa dalam menulis artikel ilmiah.

Contextual teaching and learning is one of the outstanding approaches that can help students unde... more Contextual teaching and learning is one of the outstanding approaches that can help students understand the meaning of teaching materials based on personal, social, and cultural contexts. Due to this, students can have the knowledge and skills to actively build their understanding of the materials. Therefore, this study aims to find out the effectiveness of contextual teaching and learning in improving students' reading comprehension at SMP Negeri 2 Mappakasunggu Takalar. This study involved 56 students of seventh-grade students. This study used a quasi-experimental with two classes, the experimental class, and the control class. Data was collected through a reading test that was given to students before and after giving the Contextual Teaching and Learning method. In analyzing the data, the researchers used the SPSS version 22. The results of data analysis showed that the post-test mean value was 26.04 compared to without using CTL or conventional in the control class, the post-test mean value was 23.71. In addition, the calculation results of the SPSS version 22 application showed that the value of the t-count calculation was 2.3. Compared with table df = 54, namely (2.0) the significance level was 5%, t count > t table, then Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. In other words, accept the alternative hypothesis (Ha) and reject the null hypothesis (Ho) to test both variables. From the results of hypothesis testing, it was proven that There was a significant effect between the use of contextual learning.

Publikasi artikel ilmiah merupakan salah satu syarat yang harus dipenuhi oleh mahasiswa semester akhir sebelum mereka maju untuk ujian akhir. Tapi berdasarkan observasi awal dengan beberapa mahasiswa semester akhir, ternyata masih banyak diantara mereka tidak tahu cara penulisan artikel ilmiah. Bahkan ada diantara mereka beranggapan bahwa penulisan artikel ilmiah sama dengan penulisan tugas makalah biasa. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut maka perlu diadakan pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah pada mahasiswa semester akhir. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini menggunakan metode deskriptif. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with fifty-two eleventh-grade students as participants. The participants were divided into two groups; An experimental group received the CTL approach, and a control group received the conventional way. This study utilized a pre-posttest and perceptional questionnaire. Nonparametric tests (i.e., Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon test) were run to analyze the data in this study. The objective of the research was junior high school class IX in Gowa South Sulawesi, which had 40 students. In this study, researchers used mix method namely explanatory research (quantitative and qualitative method). For quantitative analysis, researchers applied experimentally group by using pre and post-test. For qualitative analysis, the participants had to answers an open-ended questionnaire related to their perspective of the treatment session. Given that, the writers want to improve the students’ speaking skills in English by using the Unscripted Role Play Teaching Activity. The data from classroom action research is collected by quantitative data (oral test) as main data and qualitative data (notes and documentation) as supporting data. The outcomes show that students have improved in English. It proves by ab average score that the students achieved in cycle 1 and cycle 2. In Cycle 1, the average score was 63.28 with 11 students (31.42%) achieved the standard minimum score whilst the average score in Cycle 2 is 78,28 with 30 students (80.71%) achieved the standard minimum score. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with fifty-two eleventh-grade students as participants. The participants were divided into two groups; An experimental group received the CTL approach, and a control group received the conventional way. This study utilized a pre-posttest and perceptional questionnaire. Nonparametric tests (i.e., Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon test) were run to analyze the data in this study. The Man-Whitney U test indicated a significant difference between the mean score for the experimental group with the CTL approach and the control group without the CTL approach (9.86 > 10.12). The purpose of this PKM is to help students dare to take the TOEFL test and master English skills actively in preparation for facing global competition in the future. The method used in this community service activity is to use a descriptive method, namely using a discussion approach, question and answer, and practice as well as problem solving related to the skills contained in the listening session. In addition, to determine the students' initial ability, a listening test will be carried out, then a pre-test will be carried out. After the training is over, a post-test will be conducted to measure the students' listening skills after attending the training.

The objective of the research was junior high school class IX in Gowa South Sulawesi, which had 40 students. In this study, researchers used mix method namely explanatory research (quantitative and qualitative method). For quantitative analysis, researchers applied experimentally group by using pre and post-test. For qualitative analysis, the participants had to answers an open-ended questionnaire related to their perspective of the treatment session. The result of the quantitative data analysis showed that the percentage of students' results post-test was higher than pre-Test, which achieved 97.5 % in post-test. Given that, the writers want to improve the students’ speaking skills in English by using the Unscripted Role Play Teaching Activity. The data from classroom action research is collected by quantitative data (oral test) as main data and qualitative data (notes and documentation) as supporting data. The outcomes show that students have improved in English. It proves by ab average score that the students achieved in cycle 1 and cycle 2. In Cycle 1, the average score was 63.28 with 11 students (31.42%) achieved the standard minimum score whilst the average score in Cycle 2 is 78,28 with 30 students (80.71%) achieved the standard minimum score. In conclusion, the unscripted role-play teaching activity has improved the students’ speaking ability. Keywords : Unscripted, Role Play, Language Competence
