The total length and weight of the G. argenteus ranged from 5.5 cm to 16.8 cm in total length (TL) and from 1.6 g to 30.7 g in weight. The length-weight relationships were estimated W = 0.011*TL 2.924 .Age data derived from otoliths readings were used to estimate the growth parameters of the von Bertalanffy equation. The population growth parameters for G. argenteus were estimated as L ∞ = 14.97 cm, K = 0.28 year −1 and t 0 = −1.69 year. The maximum age was 5 years. The data on maturity stages indicated that length at 50% maturity (L 50) were 8.94 cm TL for G. argenteus. Monthly values of the gonadosomatic index indicated that reproduction period of G. argenteus was determined between December and March.

Samples of S. maena were collected from commercial fishing, gillnet/trammel net and line fishing, between February-October 2013 in the Northern Aegean Sea (Dikili, Altınoluk, Küçükkuyu) and the Sea of Marmara (Karabiga, Bandırma, Tekirdağ). A total of 323 S. maena specimens were analysed. The total length of the specimens ranged from 8.4 to 18.8 cm. The length-weight relationships for the Sea of Marmara and the Northern Aegean Sea were a=0.0030, b=3.53, SEb=0.080 and a=0.0100, b=3.06, SEb=0.120 respectively. The b values showed that the growth of S. maena in the Northern Aegean Sea was isometric while the sample in the Sea of Marmara showed positively allometric growth. Fish aged 1-4 years in the Sea of Marmara and 2-6 years in the North Aegean Sea were present in the samples. Growth in length including both sexes was expressed using the von Bertalanffy equation, L ∞ =17.17 cm, k=0.52 y, t0=-1.04 y-1 in the Sea of Marmara and L ∞ =18.71 cm, k=0.35 y, t0=-1.98 y-1 in the Northern Aegean Sea. The otolith length-total length relationships in the Sea of Marmara and the Northern Aegean Sea were OL=0.301×TL+1.049 and OL=0.249×TL+1.885, respectively.

To obtain the data, bottom trawl surveys were conducted at 34 sites between May 2017 and February 2018. The litter items were sampled and sorted following the MEDITS’ relevant instructions. 660 pieces of litter, weighing 434.9 kg, were sampled. The litter density was found to range between 27.5 n/km2 and 661.2 n/km2, averaging 73.9 n/km2, and the obtained items’ weights ranged between 0.03 kg/km2 and 1597.8 kg/km2, averaging 48.7 kg/km2. The plastic group L1 constituted 71.7% of the trawled litter. The highest mean litter density was detected in the Northeastern Marmara Sea in the spring and summer of 2018. The mean benthic litter density was found to be higher than the nearby areas. It was concluded that more effort should be invested in reducing marine pollution.

Turun boy-agirlik iliskisi, yas, buyume, ureme zamani ve ilk eseysel olgunluk boyu belirlenmistir. Toplam 236 birey analiz edilmistir, toplam boy ve agirlik degerleri sirasiyla 7,5 – 26,5 cm TL (17,11 ± 3,62 cm) ve 2,67 – 180,81 g (44,07 ± 1,84 g) arasinda degismistir. Boy-agirlik iliskisi parametreleri tum bireyler icin W=0,0047×TL3,17 olarak hesaplanmistir. Buyume tipi her iki cinsiyet icin de pozitif allometridir. Bireylerin yaslari 1 ile 4 arasinda degismektedir. Cinsiyetlere gore von Bertalanffy buyume parametreleri, disilerde L∞=23,44 cm, K=0,74 yil-1 ve t0=-0,09 yil, erkeklerde L∞=20,75 cm, K=0,56 yil-1 ve t0=-1,14 yil olarak belirlenmistir. Ilk eseysel olgunluk boyu erkekler icin 17,6 cm TL, disiler icin 16,7 cm TL bulunmustur. Eseysel olgunluk, K ve GSI degerleri birlikte degerlendirildiginde, C. linguatula'nin ureme donemi Eylul ve Aralik aylari arasinda belirlenmistir.

The samples were obtained with set nets and line fishing in the North Aegean Sea: Dikili, Altınoluk, and Küçükkuyu, and Marmara Sea: Karabiga, Bandırma, and Tekirdağ shores between February and October 2013. In total, 155 individuals from the North Aegean Sea and 168 individuals from the Marmara Sea were sampled. The coordinates and distance of the points on otolith were determined with image analysis program Image J 1.47v. The otolith shapes of the stocks were compared by the discriminant analysis method. The differences between the otoliths of the individuals sampled from North Aegean Sea and Marmara Sea are statistically significant (P<0.05). The discriminant analysis successfully explained the difference between the two stocks at 73.5%. The results showed that the S.maena stocks obtained from the North Aegean Sea and the M...
