This work reports the effects of thermoform molding process conditions on polyvinylchloride (PVC)... more This work reports the effects of thermoform molding process conditions on polyvinylchloride (PVC) and polyethylene (PE) double layer package materials. Mechanical and microstructural properties of the package material were examined by different test methods which are tensile properties, tear resistances and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Furthermore, package materials, which are produced in different conditions by thermoform molding. Effect of different mold depths and process temperatures on the samples are determined by thermal aging process at 60°C in first, third, and seventh days. With increase in mold depth from 25 mm to 75 mm, there is a significant increase in tensile strength from ∼45 MPa to ∼55 MPa, thermoform temperature at 150°C. The highest elongation of the material was obtained thermoform temperature at 165°C as 80%, mold depth at 35 mm. Tensile strength and elongation (%) of the material generally decrease by aging time with changing of mold depth (25, 35, and 7...

Method: 80 composite samples were prepared. Samples were classified into 4 main groups (n=20): Control, Colgate Motion Whitening Toothbrush (CWT), Opalescence Whitening Toothpaste (OWT) and Beyond Pearl White Toothpaste (BPW). Control group was stored in distilled water for 14 day, as baseline. CWT brushing were applied 2 minutes a day with distilled water or OWT or BPW for 14 days. After 14 days, surface roughness (Sa) was measured by non-contact 3D laser profilometer and surface hardness (VHN) was measured by Vickers tester. 16 samples were evaluated under SEM. Kruskal Wallis, post Hoc Dunn’s multiple comparison, Mann Whitney U tests were used in the comparison of groups. Statistical significance level was established at p<0,05. Resul...

After dissolving 2ZnO·3B2O3·3.0–3.5H2O in an ammonia solution, the clear solution was boiled until a white powder formed. The resultant powder was characterized with XRD, FTIR, TGA and TEM. Five different elastomer concentrations (3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 wt %) were added to i-PP to produce polypropylene/elastomer blends. The yield and tensile strengths, elastic modulus, impact strength, hardness, melt flow index (MFI), and structural properties of the blends were investigated. The tensile and yield strengths, elastic modulus, and hardness decreased gradually, whereas the impact strength and MFI increased as the elastomer content increased. As a result, with respect to the impact strength, the most effective elastomers were EPDM with 15 wt % and EVA 28 with 15 wt % for higher impact strength values. © 2005 Wi...
