Primary hyperparathyroidism is common, particularly in postmenopausal women. Since the introducti... more Primary hyperparathyroidism is common, particularly in postmenopausal women. Since the introduction of routine automated serum calcium assays and the development of assays for intact 1e84 parathyroid hormone, the diagnosis is usually made fortuitously in asymptomatic patients or during evaluation for osteoporosis. As a result, many physicians have no experience with the clinical manifestations. Here, we describe the case of a 70-year-old man with bone pain, multiple brown tumors, and severe hypercalcemia (4 mmol/L). The diagnostic pitfalls raised by these symptoms are illustrated.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of cigarette smoking on lipid parameters in smokers and non-smokers. Material and Methods: A cross sectional comparative study was carried out in 200 subjects. The subjects were divided into two groups. Group A consisted of 100 smokers and Group B consisted of 100 Non-smokers. After overnight fasting following laboratory investigations were done in all subjects, Serum total cholesterol, Serum high density lipoprotein (HDL), Serum low density lipoprotein (LDL), Serum very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), Serum triglyceride (TGL), Fasting blood sugar (FBS), Serum Creatinine, Urine for albumin, sugar and microscopic examination and the results of these tests were compared between the two groups.Results: All the values of lipid profile, TC, HDL, LDL, VLDL, TGL, were found...
