The "deep build-together" strategy is proposed to simultaneously consider this rebuilding by transmission and distribution networks, thereby, to serve the maximum of customers in a minimum of time. The restoration problem has to be now formulated as

The purpose of this model is to study the impact of dispersed generation on distribution systems. The model is based on the mean torque method which presents the advantages to be simple and representative and to have a modular structure. The developed model has been implemented in the EUROSTAG software, and the simulation results have been compared with actual test measurements

Modern energy infrastructures and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are strongly c... more Modern energy infrastructures and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are strongly coupled and as such heavily depend on each other. These infrastructures are essential for the proper functioning of our society and economies. Indeed, it is hard to imagine our present society without the services offered by these infrastructures. In addition, any failure of these infrastructures may cause significant economical losses. They are "critical infrastructures". Although, the energy and ICT infrastructures are heterogeneous in nature (different features, dynamics and communities), they need to be addressed in an integrated matter in the perspective of global infrastructures security. However, their interdependencies are not well known and significant efforts need to be dedicated for better understanding criticalities, vulnerabilities and cascading effects characterizing these strongly coupled heterogeneous infrastructures.

An adequate communication infrastructure is then crucial to enable scalable and seamless operations in the electrical grid. The paper main contribution consists of a quantitative evaluation of the quality of service in different wired and wireless communication systems, applied to two use case scenarios: the “collaborative load shedding for frequency support” and the “distributed optimal power flow management in a dc grid”.

ABSTRACT In large interconnected networks, the number and the complexity of controllers are still... more ABSTRACT In large interconnected networks, the number and the complexity of controllers are still increasing in order to enhance the performance of power systems. But the proximity between controllers leads to interactions between each other, also called "control interactions". These interactions are very often detrimental to the overall system performance : they are "adverse interactions". Design and co-ordination of damping controllers, while trying to mitigate control interactions, are relevant topics of modern power engineering research. The linear matrix inequalities design techniques, added to distant signals used as inputs of controllers, allows adverse interactions to be reduced. Indeed, distant signals, coming from synchronized phasor measurements units, permit a global knowledge of the system in real time to be achieved. The designed controllers are those of FACTS (flexible AC transmission systems) devices and PSS (power system stabilizers). Furthermore, these techniques take into account the damping of critical oscillatory modes, and more particularly inter-area modes. The proposed design methods are verified via small-signal analysis and dynamic simulations on a 4-machines test power system

This paper presents so a concept of coordinated up and down modulation of distributed loads, willing to supply frequency-controlled reserves. These reserves are provided through a structure of Virtual Power Plant (VPP), managed by a multi-agents system. These reserves comply with both Frequency Containment Reserves (FCR) and Under Frequency Load Shedding (UFLS) requirements. The deployment of such VPP targets a better system reliability, in term of both real-time security and interruptibility. The network stability study performed to stresstest the benefit of this new kind of demand-based reserve is then presented. This study highlights especially the benefit of the solution in challenging contexts like poorly interconnected power systems, like especially semi-islanded microgrid.

Distribution networks have always been planned for end users and without many concerns about dist... more Distribution networks have always been planned for end users and without many concerns about distributed generations. Their function is to supply all the consumers ensuring good continuity of supply and service quality. Following this objective, distribution network operators converge to a small amount of architectures and operation rules depending on the degree of service quality and the initial investment desired. An increasing connection of distributed generations to the distribution network raises technical problems and brings planning rules to be no more optimal. Business as usual solutions currently used are not economic and may finally become insufficient. A deep review of existing planning tools should be required to find efficient solutions to increase the distributed generation interconnection. This paper proposes a heuristic method able to optimize current French architecture features (amount of feeders, choice of consumers connected to them) in order to increase distributed generation penetration. A real urban network has been used to validate this methodology.
