This paper presents the relative study of different shapes of microstrip Patch antenna for different dielectric materials. The main application of these antennas is for satellite communication in Ku-Band. The height of the substrate plays an essential role in the enhancement of bandwidth and it is chosen 1.012mm and three substrate materials (RT Duroid (5880), Teflon, and FR4) with different dielectric constants were chosen for the performance comparison. Aperture coupling, which is again one of the promising techniques for bandwidth enhancement, is used as a feeding technique for the designs. Coupling must be taken care of while using aperture coupling, which is done by precisely optimizing the feed line dimensions, feed position, slot dimensions, and patch dimensions. The antenna performance is stud...

Thus, it requires combination of several single antennas forming an array structure. The arrangement of single antennas named as point source form a linear or planar antenna array structure, as shown in Fig. 5.1. The overall radiation pattern is determined by array factor. Directivity and number of side lobes with increase with number of point sources. In this investigation work, planar arrays are considered.

Using infinite array approach method, resonant element of MRA is observed in unit cell environment. The reflection phase curve helps to characterize different shapes of resonant elements. Keywords— Unit-cell environment, Infinite array approach, Reflection Phase Curve, Figure of Merit, Static Phase Range

The increasing growth of wireless system requires miniaturized antenna. Conventional antenna size is about half wavelength. With the development of the technologies wireless systems becoming more and more compact so antenna size must have been reduced. This study shows some of the techniques to reduce size of microstrip patch antenna. This miniaturization techniques include use of high permittivity єr materials, use of meta- materials, Sierpinski carpet fractal method, using pins between patch and ground plane, introducing slots in the patch. The major features and drawbacks of these methods are highlighted in this study.

Development and wide usage of communication through the wireless media gives an opportunity for the research and development of small antennas. Such an antenna is deployable at the base stations as well as on to the satellites. Hence, miniaturization is one of the important requirements. The paper reviews the phase response of the reflectarray antenna to achieve a planar wave front, techniques to improve the bandwidth as well as for miniaturization of microstrip reflectarray antenna.
