Government and agencies tend to give more attention to road passenger transports (public and private vehicles) rather than road freight transport (commercial vehicles) especially Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) in a matter of reducing global warming. Despite in Malaysia, certain road haulages have not yet implemented the right strategy in their operation in order to support this carbon emission reduction and this leads to myriad problems in HGVs operational planning. This study aims to assess the right strategy for HGVs implementation in their operations in order to support Malaysia voluntary target to reduce 40% of its carbon emission by 2020. Hence, writers have developed a conceptual framework for the study's objectives. The evaluation of this assessment is based on the HGVs operators' perspective and writers had conducted a quantitative research approach by distributing questionnaires towards respondents. The data had been analysed by using descriptive analysis and simple estimation calculation on the cost to determine the difference between the company who practice the strategy and who doesn't. Based on the preliminary result, most of them agreed that by using the right strategy, the operational cost and carbon emission can be reduced. The present research is therefore intended to make contributions to the field of green logistics as well as road haulage industry in Malaysia.

An effective strategy of managing empty containers not only enable financial savings, but it also has the added advantage of contributing to the well being of the environment. Therefore, several strategies have been identified and imp lemented to reduce or min imize the environmental impact of moving around empty containers. The practice of industry in Europe in managing the container movement is based largely on two strategies called 'Depot Direct' and 'Street Turn'. These strategies are looked upon as suitable tools for managing container's entire-journey when there is a haulage by prime movers. However in Malaysia, logistics practitioners have still largely not imp lemented a similar strategy in the latter that forms the foundation of green logistics thus helping to reduce carbon emissions in Malaysia. Normally, road haulage co mpanies in Malaysia use the 'Depot Direct' strategy and fro m the general observation this strategy is not an environmental friendly p rocess as it entails unnecessary carbon emissions. This author seeks to determine whether there is an environ mental benefit if there is imp lementation of a new strategy like 'Street Turn' in Malaysia for container haulage operations.

Public transportation is an important way of moving people or goods from one point to another poi... more Public transportation is an important way of moving people or goods from one point to another point of destination. Light Rail Transit (LRT), Monorail, taxis and buses are currently a good choice for people, especially those who work at the city centre. Lately, the light rail transit was seen to be preferable by all, especially in the area with heavy traffic congestions. The increased number of vehicles heading to the city centre day by day causes the delay in traffic movement on the road. This can easily be seen especially in the morning when people are mobile to work and at the evening time after the working hour. Choosing the public transportation as LRT has helped much in reducing the congestions in many roads to the city centre. Apart from the intention to ensure the minimum road congestion, the other concern is the safety parameter. The safety level among the passengers must also become a priority matter especially for female users. Nowadays, the female users were seen to beco...

Based on these activities, the personnel are exposed to various kinds of hazards and safety issues are one of the biggest concerns for the management apart from focusing on the production. In this context, the objective of safety is simply to ensure people do not get hurt in the workplace. However, in practice it is difficult for an organization to achieve a sustained safe performance while dealing with significant hazards. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the major factor that supports safety compliance among oil and gas supply base personnel. There are three factors included in this study, which are psychological, behavioral and situational factor. A set of questionnaire has been used to collect the data and it was analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software. The finding was revealed that psychological factor is the main factor that supports safety compliance among personnel in Oil and Gas Suppy Base. Apart from that, this study also has can contribute in the effort to enhance safety compliance among the personnel especially in their workplace. By achieving zero non-compliance with safety regulations, the risk of accidents and incidents in the oil and gas industry can be reduced. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY As safety is a matter of life and death, a systematic management system is developed to help in managing safety issues and is being used widely in oil and gas industry, as well as in other industry. According to an oil and gas report [1], Health, Safety and the Environment (HSE) remain on top of the oil and gas industry's agenda, reflecting a climate of zero tolerance for accidents both within the industry and stakeholder community. However, currently in a modern oil and gas industry, the elements of the management system were included and it was called as Health, Safety, and Environment Management System (HSE MS). This HSE MS is an integration of safety elements, environment, and occupational health with the goal to protect the people, asset, environment and reputation of a company. HSE MS also defined on how HSE issues are to be managed and it was including the specific components, which is programmed, tools and procedures to identify and manage all the relevance of HSE issues. However, certain system has their limitations, no matter how systematic it is, without a strong support from their target group, the system most likely will fail [2]. There are many previous studies [3], that identified the violations of safety rules and procedures as the most common causal factor towards accidents in oil and gas industry. These violations were associated with the personnel or the workers in the industry.

And it is also vital in the control of materials and goods that have to be held for later use in the case of production or later exchange activities in the case of services. Therefore, this study was conducted to measure the critical factors that helping in achieving the effectiveness of inventory management in the warehouse. Three factors that were involved in this study which are knowledge and skills, documentation and funding. In gathering the data, a set of the questionnaire is distributed to the respective respondent that was related to this area. To analyse the data Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) were used by focusing on correlation and regression analysis. This study is conducted to contribute to the company and to other organizations that find a solution to their inventory problem. Moreover, with this study it helps the company to identify major factors and to solve the inventory issues in the company. Furthermore, the result in this study gives empirical impact on the company in handling inventory. They can refer to this study as a guideline to prepare pre-alert planning to enhance their daily task to achieve the effectiveness of inventory management. By achieving it, they can reduce inventory issues such as missing item, misplaced item and short item.

With the aid of modern transport technology applications, it can create better visibility within the operation, which will enable more control over the business and stay ahead of the competition. Currently, most of the Road Haulage company has started to use the Global Positioning System (GPS) as a trucking system to strengthen its distribution operation. By implementing this GPS application, some of the questions will arise on the effectiveness of this technology implementation. Therefore, this paper has focused on monitoring the fuel consumption by the company that implementing this technology in their transport distribution operation. The researchers used two data collection techniques which are through site monitoring and also the structured interview. The main focus of the analysis is to compare the usage of fuel after implementing this system. This study is one of the information platforms for the logistics and transportation industry to grow and propels the country into a high-income economy based on the 11th Malaysia Plan.

Hence, writers have developed a conceptual framework for the study’s objectives. The evaluation of this assessment is based on the HGVs operators’ perspective and writers had conducted a quantitative research approac...

Although there are many actions taken to reduce the fatality rate, the number of recorded accident kept on rising each day and there are many explanations of why the accident kept happening. In Malaysia particularly, most of the road accident was linked to the rapid growth in young drivers’ population. Many multiple bodies have been formed within the government departments, private agencies and voluntary agencies to cope with issues of road accidents in order to educate and spread road safety awareness to the young drivers especially with the establishment of driving academy. Hence, this paper attempts to demonstrate the effectiveness of existing driver education co-curriculum in reducing the number of accidents among young drivers through its education syllabus, regulations standard, driving academy facilities and knowledge of the trainer. A survey instrument is used as the basis for collecting data...
