Recent studies have demonstrated that IgE may play a role in the pathogenesis of MD. Patients with MD (n = 103), acoustic neuroma (n = 5), and healthy subjects (n = 72) were recruited into the study. Serum from the participants was analyzed for IgE and type 2–related cytokines. IgE and CD23 expression levels in vestibular end organs of patients, C57BL/6 mice, or mouse HEI-OC1 cells were analyzed. Finally, the role of CD23 in IgE transcytosis was assessed using HEI-OC1 cells. Serum IgE was elevated in patients with MD and positively correlated with clinical symptoms. IL-4, IL-5, IL-10, IL-13, and CD23 levels were increased in patients with MD compared with the control group. In the transcytosis assay, mouse IgE was found to be bidirectionally transported across the HEI-OC1 cell monolayer. Additionally, CD23 downregulation using a small interf...

The immune system is a developing defense system formed by all metazoans in the course of struggling with various internal and external factors, whose damage may lead to increased susceptibility to pathogens and diseases. Due to a greater vulnerability of the immune system, immunotoxicity has the potential to be the early event of other toxic effects, and should be incorporated into environmental risk assessment. However, compared with other toxicity endpoints, e.g., genotoxicity, endocrine toxicity, or developmental toxicity, there are many challenges for the immunotoxicity test of environmental pollutants; this is due to the lack of detailed mechanisms of action and reliable assay methods. In addition, with the strong appeal for ani...

In contrast to the conventional periodic rectangular MTS, the proposed MTS structure is formed by hybrid embedded patches composed of several X and rectangle metal patches. The gap between the hybrid patches introduces additional capacitances, which can reduce the resonance frequency of the MTS antenna and achieve significant miniaturization. Characteristic mode analysis (CMA) is then utilized to analyze the MTS operating mechanism and guide the best possible feeding positions for wideband circularly polarized (CP) radiation. Subsequently, a cross-slot and microstrip line are used to excite a pair of degenerate modes to obtain CP radiation and broadband impedance matching. Finally, for demonstration, the proposed MTS antenna was fabricated and measured with an overall aperture of 0.46 λ 0 × 0.46 λ 0 × 0.07 λ 0 at 5 GHz. The measured 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW) is 21.40%. Thus, it can be demonstrated that the proposed antenna can radiate effectively with significant miniaturization and the desired wideband CP radiation patterns, revealing promising prospects for wireless communication systems. INDEX TERMS Characteristic mode analysis (CMA), circularly polarized (CP), metasurface (MTS) antenna, miniaturized, wideband.

With the development of technology, weather forecasting methods such as weather map forecasting, numerical weather forecasting, and quantitative forecasting methods have emerged. However, these traditional data analysis methods have shortcomings such as incomplete analysis, insufficient objectivity, inability to quantitatively predict the weather, and low prediction accuracy. The import of neural networks into the field of weather forecasting helps to alleviate the above shortcomings and improve the accuracy of weather forecasting. In this paper, the LSTM network and the CNN network are used to predict the sand-dust storm weather. In order to improve the prediction performance, we use the Stacking integration algorithm to fuse the LSTM and CNN models. To improve the experimental scientific and comprehensive, using fully connected network and support vector machine as meta-classifiers, two LSTM-CNN integrated sand-dust storm prediction models are established. At last, the above integrated model is used in the prediction of sand-dust storms in Inner Mongolia. The experimental results show that compared with a single LSTM or CNN model, the Stacking ensemble model has different degrees of improvement in model evaluation indicators such as accuracy, precision, recall, and f1-score. The Stacking ensemble model uses the fully connected network model as the meta-classifier is even better. These prove that the Stacking ensemble algorithm improves the sand-dust storm classification effect and generalization ability of a single neural network to a certain extent. This study sets to explore methods to process spherical 3D content directly and more effectively. Using 360-degree videos as an example, we propose a novel approach called Spherical Autoencoder (SAE) for spherical video processing. Instead of projecting to a 2D space, SAE represents the 360-degree video content as a spherical object and employs encoding and decoding on the 360-degree video directly. Furthermore, to support the adoption of SAE on pervasive mobile devices that often have resource constraints, we further propose two optimizations on top of SAE. First, since the FoV (Field of View) prediction is widely studied and leveraged to transport only a portion of the content to the mobile device to save bandwidth and battery consumption, we design p-SAE, a SAE scheme with the partial view support that can utilize such FoV prediction. Second, since machine learning models are often compressed when running on mobile devices in order to reduce the processing load, which usually leads to degradation of output (e.g., video quality in SAE), we propose c-SAE by applying the compressive sensing theory into SAE to maintain the video quality when the model is compressed. Our extensive experiments show that directly incorporating and processing spherical signals is promising, and it outperforms the traditional approaches by a large margin. Both p-SAE and c-SAE show their effectiveness in delivering high quality videos (e.g., PSNR results) when used alone or combined together with model compression.

Inspired by recent state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution models and spherical CNNs, in this paper, we design a novel spherical superresolution (SSR) approach for 360-degree videos. To address the bandwidth waste problem associated with 360-degree video transmission/streaming and save computation, we propose the Focused Icosahedral Mesh to represent a small area on the sphere and construct matrices to rotate spherical content to the focused mesh area. We also propose a novel VertexShuffle operation on the mesh, motivated by the 2D PixelShuffle operation. We compare our SSR approach with state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution models. We show that SSR has the potential to achieve significant benefits when applied to spherical signals. In this paper, copper nanoplates were rapidly synthesized using copper bromide as the copper precursor, polyethyleneimine as the stabilizer, and ascorbic acid as a reducing agent in the presence of silver nanoparticles at a reaction temperature of 90 °C. The Cu nanoplates with an average side length of 10.97 ± 3.45 μm were obtained after a short reaction time of 2 h, demonstrating the promoting effect of an appropriate amount of silver nanoparticle on the synthesis of Cu nanoplates. Then, the electrochemical dopamine sensor was constructed by modifying a glass carbon electrode (GCE) with the Cu nanoplates. The results obtained from the test of cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry indicated that the Cu-GCE showed a significant electrochemical response for the measurement of dopami...

Because of the complexity of HNC surgery, recovery can be challenging, and complications are common. One of the foundations of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) is early postoperative mobilization. The ERAS guidelines for HNC surgery with free flap reconstruction recommend mobilization within 24 h. This is based mainly on evidence from other surgical disciplines, and the extent to which mobilization within 24 h improves recovery after HNC surgery has not been explored. This retrospective analysis included 445 patients from the Calgary Head and Neck Enhanced Recovery Program. Mobilization after 24 h was associated with more complications of any type (OR = 1.73, 95% CI [confidence interval] = 1.16–2.57) and more major complications (OR = 1.76; 95% CI = 1.00–3.16). When accounting for patient and clinical factors, mobilization after 48 h was a significant predictor of major complications ...

In this paper, the opportunities and challenges for the post-COVID-19 development of transnational education in China are systematically discussed, based on the transnational education delivery at a Sino-Foreign cooperative university. Following our observations on opportunities and challenges, several suggestions are proposed, to address the potential challenges for the stable post-COVID-19 development of...
