The study seeks to assess the role of education on small-scale mining for sustainable development in the Banda/Nkwanta community in the Bole District, the Northern part of Ghana. Small scale mining operations have been a major cause of most of the negative environmental impacts in most parts of Ghana. This activity has now found its way to the Northern part of Ghana which is a serious canker for sustainable development. The environmental effects of these activities are higher because most of the activities are not coordinated and monitored by authorities especially in the Northern part of Ghana. The methods of mining applied by operators determine the severity of threat to environmental security. The chemical method of processing gold is a severe health hazard, especially the amalgamation with mercury. Small scale mining activities have a lot of negative impacts on agricultural activities, the major occupation and source of livelihood for the people. It is recommended that Government and its agencies should encourage the illegal small-scale operators to formalize their operations in order to be accessible for supervision. The issuance of licenses and permit for surface mining should be reduced and most of these companies should be encouraged to explore the underground mining method with appropriate techniques and skills that meet international best practices. The Bole District Assembly should enforce environmentally friendly bye-laws, education and comprehensive environmental protection measures.

Among other elements, investor behavior is also influenced by demographic characteristics; including age, sex, marital status, experience, and knowledge of financial management, level of income and educational level. The case study analysis assesses two main areas of concern. The qualitative and quantitative research methods made use of questionnaires that constituted data collection tools. Both primary and secondary data constituted the data sources for this study. A sample of 300 investors in the municipality of WA was selected using convenience sampling where snow balling was considered. The data collected were quantified using descriptive statistical tables. The SPSS version 25 software was also used in the analysis. The study proved that demographic factors affect investment decisions. It also concluded that, the educational level of respondents was a weak indicator of investment decisions and therefore, does not determine the investment decision for individual investors. The study concluded that the most common investment methods investors invest in are fixed deposits in banks and life insurance policies. It is recommended that individual investors take into account the asymmetry of information, which is the largest contributor to the investor's indifference that leads to investment decisions.

TEXILA INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT

The Act of Parliament (Act 650) passed in 2003 health care financing and being implemented and supervised by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). National Health Insurance Authority aimed to assure equitable and universal access for all residents of Ghana to an acceptable quality package of essential health care services without payment being required at the point of use. The efficiency and sustainability of the health care facilities depend on funding and timely disbursement of claims. It has been observed that, whilst health care facilities do comply with section 37 (7) of L.1 1809, the scheme has not been able to comply with section 38(1) of the L.1 1809. This leads to undue delays in reimbursement of funds to accredited institutions. This delays of reimbursement of claims by National Health Insurance Authority therefore has adverse effects on the financial management of health care facilities. It is therefore recommended that, Government should speed up on releasing funds to National Health Insurance Authority for payment of claims. Further research needs to be done to verify the findings among other groups of facilities, and explore comparative studies involving facilities from different industries. Future researchers should also develop measures of additional dimensions to find out if the premium charged on scheme members of NHIS is fair enough to pay claims and also suggest whether premium charged should be increased or maintained.
