In Transcarpathia, the Soviet authorities did their utmost to ensure that the area was fully integrated into the Soviet system. During the implementation of planned economy, quantity prevailed over quality. During the Khrushchev era, the main goals of the Transcarpathian political leadership were among others eliminating but at least reducing unemployment, improving the trade, establishing and deepening friendly relations and cooperation with neighbouring countries, developing tourism and infrastructure, reducing housing shortages, developing urban industries, which entailed the acceleration of urbanization processes etc. The food and light industry started to develop. The milling industry also developed, as the Soviet troops stationed in Central Europe were supplied from Transcarpathia. The period from 1953 to 1964 were years of great reorganization and failure in the Soviet Union. It became increasingly clear that Khrushchev's reforms would not realize the hopes to improve the economy and to raise the standard of living of society. Generally, Khrushchev's policy was inconsistent and debatable. In addition, the secretary-general surrounded himself with toadies, so poorly selected his advisers, blindly trusted them, which had increasingly serious consequences and caused his fall. The Presidium of the Communist Party at the October Congress of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the USSR, in 1964 dismissed N. Khrushchev.

Searching for, identifying, and developing young people with outstanding abilities is a determining key factor of the competitiveness of a given region; in such a work, a prominent role is given to different educational institutions and talent agencies. Thus concerning this reason, "GENIUS" Charity Foundation has been established in 2011. It carries out a wide range of talent management, talent development and research among the schoolchildren, students, and young researchers. Our aim is to create an integrated system of the talent support programs, to assure equal access in promoting talents, and increase the talented youth's social responsibility. The Foundation among many others, organizes the Conference of Young Researchers, as well as the Conference of Scientific Students, and operates the nine Talent Points where more than 2,000 children, more than 300 qualified teachers, and nearly 90 schools take part.

It is the first attempt to show the documents about the deportation of Hungarian citizens to the Soviet Union and to present the reactions of the local Transcarpathian Hungarian nation to the events of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, and it also highlights the actions of the authorities that were aimed at the purposeful total ideological control and thus influenced the formation of the general public’s opinion about the surrounding events. The main aim of the study is to show the deportations of the Hungarian revolutionists to the Soviet Union in 1956 through archival documents and to introduce the political leaflet distributor groups in Transcarpathia, which were formed during the Hungarian war of independence in 1956. There are archival documents containin...

The limited data available typically describes involvement of branches of brachial nerves. The authors present a case of PTS with a rare combination of unilateral brachial plexus, phrenic nerve, and recurrent laryngeal nerve injuries. They also highlight successful treatment with pharmacological intervention despite several months' delay in diagnosis. The 35-year-old female presented with acute onset of severe left shoulder pain followed by severe progressive weakness of the left shoulder muscles, progressive weakness of her voice, nasal regurgitation of fluids, paroxysmal bouts of coughing, and exertional dyspnoea at rest. The symptoms remained undiagnosed for about 10 months. A clinical diagnosis of exclusion of PTS was finally made, and treatment with steroids, neurotropic drugs, and physiotherapy was started. The patient has recovered significantly since then and continues to improve. Conclusion: The authors presented a case of PTS with a rare combination of brachial plexus, recurrent laryngeal nerve, and phrenic nerve injuries. This case was also remarkable for the significant improvement in her symptoms with treatment, despite the delay in diagnosis. This bears evidence that steroids and adjuvant therapy is useful even months after onset of the disease.

THE PLANT CULTIVATION SITUATION OF TRANSCARPATHIA IN THE KHRUSHCHEV ERA (1953–1964), 2021

Then, after the execution of L. Beria, head of the Soviet secret service, communist dictatorship was replaced by a period of total oligarchy. The period between 1953 and 1964 can be seen as the era of "thaw". N. Khrushchev implemented a number of reforms, but the reform era turned into recentralization, causing Khrushchev's failure. Due to its geopolitical situation, Transcarpathia received significant attention from Soviet leaders. The area was of strategic importance in terms of transport from east to west, it was considered a «western gate». The Chop-Batevo area became one of the most important transhipment stations in the Soviet Union. Transcarpathia had been economically integrated into the Soviet system since 1946 and became part of the Ukrainian SSR economy. Planbased management was implemented in all areas of agriculture. Despite the fact that a lot of work was devoted to the political and economic history of Transcarpathia during the «thaw», the peculiarities of the reform of agriculture in the region at this time were not in the center of attention of scientists. The aim of this article is to find out the key features of the plant cultivation situation of Transcarpathia in the Khrushchev era (1953-1964). The key areas of crop production in Transcarpathia during the time of N. Khrushchev were domestication of tea and citrus plants, the great Party cereal (corn) program, and growing of vegetables, fruits and grapes. The plan for the domestication of tea and citrus plants failed because the kolkhozes were unable to meet the plans regarding the tea plantations, mostly due to frost damage to the plants. A number of problems arose in corn production as well. Orcharding and viticulture were relatively successful even in the mountain areas. Plan-based Soviet management was unable to satisfy all needs of Transcarpathian crop production during the time of N. Khrushchev.

Changes in land use, land management, as well as the emergence of new organizational and economic forms of management in the agrarian sector were radical, and therefore ambiguous in their nature. General scientific methods were used in the study, in particular comparativehistorical and systemic-structural, which helped to organize a significant number of source material, reproduce and compare the direction of land relations transformation at different stages of this process. The problem-chronological approach was used to determine the structure of the study. The scientific novelty consists in researching the problem, which has not been investigated in Ukrainian historiography in such a formulation and chronological framework. Agrarian reform in Ukraine, first of all, the reform of land relations, has been consistently considered from lease spreading, land subdividing among the peasants to the opening of the agricultural lands market. Objective and subjective factors, which complicated these processes and, in particular, lagging behind in the formation of a complex of legal bases were analyzed. Conclusions. The influence of land relations transformation on achievements and losses in the Ukraine's agrarian sector were highlighted. The authors state that the hasty introducing new agrarian forms of land management without proper theoretical justification, financial support has made the reform process poorly predictable for 30 years. For a long time, peasants were unsure of the irreversibility of land relations transformation, which is confirmed by the rather slow rate of State certificates of land shares ownership. It has been mentioned that the authorities were aware of the problem complexity, so a slow transition from collective and state farm system -through CAEs (collective agricultural enterprises) -to PPFs (personal peasant farms) and PSF (personal subsidiary farms) was proposed. Agro-firms and agro-holdings were the culmination of a new structure of land management. The changes in the structure of crops and livestock farming, which became the result of land relations transformation, were analyzed. Changes in the lives of peasants were traced, first of all, the attitude of most of them to small-scale production. A step-by-step review of the condition of the agrarian sector material and technical basis was made.
