Development of protocols for cryopreservation of microalgae Chlorococcum dissectum Korshikov and ... more Development of protocols for cryopreservation of microalgae Chlorococcum dissectum Korshikov and Dunaliella salina Teodoresco requires selection of effective cryoprotectants and their concentrations. One of the stages of choosing the optimal concentrations of cryoprotectants is determining the degree of toxicity for cells at the equilibration stage. Solutions of dimethyl sulfoxide, ethylene glycol, ethanol, glycerol (5–30%) and modified PVS1 and PVS2 (50 and 75%) were used in the research. The effect of cryoprotective compounds was determined by the resazurin reduction test. The least damaging effect on the Ch. dissectum cells was made by a 10% solution of glycerol. Treatment of the samples with ethanol and dimethyl sulfoxide solutions reduced metabolic activity by 31–33%, the ethylene glycol ones did by 50%. Incubation in 75% modified PVS1, 50 and 75% PVS2 solutions reduced the metabolic activity by more than half compared to the control. Ethanol was the most toxic cryoprotectant f...

Influence of nutrient medium pH values on accumulation of mycelium biomass of 11 strains of Cladobotryum sp. was determined. It was determined that the optimal pH value for the growth of all strains is 6.9. It was found that depending on the acidity of the nutrient medium, the majority of strains synthesize pigments that stain mycelium of the fungus. Using the methods of confocal microscopy, we have studied the colour and conducted spectral analysis of autofluorescence of mycelial hyphae of different strains of Cladobotryum sp. Keywords: Cladobotryum sp.; pH medium; mycelium; biomass; autofluorescence; hypha References: Alekseeva, K. L. (2013). The composition and biological activity of the extracts derived from dead bees have been studied.... more The composition and biological activity of the extracts derived from dead bees have been studied. Qualitative and quantitative compositions of the extracts were found by spectral and chromatography methods. Antioxidative activity was assessed with chemiluminescent method using ethers of acridine carbon acid. Saccharamyces cerevisiae were the test systems to examine biological activity of the extracts. Flavonoids and carotenoids having antioxidant properties were found to be components of the extracts. All studied extracts are characterized with biological activity depending on the way of extract obtaining.

It has been shown that wound treatment with ozonized physiological solution contributes to more intensive healing process of cold traumas, that manifests in reduction of total microbe seeding of animals skin and decrease in radiation values recorded within infrared range.

The feasibility to apply these methods for the estimation of viability of microorganisms after cryopreservation was analysed. KEY WORDS: microorganism, cryopreservation, viability evaluation method To develop immune biological preparations, methods of diagnostics of the infectional dis-eases, infections of alive microorganisms in the environment, conducting of epidemiological studies and providing the works of microbiologi-cal productions, the collections of different mi-croorganisms [17] are used. Cryopreservation is one of the most reliable and widely applied ways of a long-term storage of microorganisms [4,13]. When creating the efficient regimens of microor-ganism cryopreservation it is necessary to imply the most distinct and adequate assessment meth-ods for microorganism viability state after a low temperature effect. More frequently the cellular forms of microorganisms are used by r...
