Operacinė slauga chirurginiu aspektu aprėpia operacinės slaugytojų (OS) darbą sterilioje aplinkoje (slaugant pacientą) ir operacinės slaugytojų tarpininkavimą tarp sterilios ir nesterilios aplinkos. Tarpininkaujantis operacinės slaugytojas (angl. circulating nurse, COS) užtikrina pacientų saugą operacijos metu. Tyrimo tikslas − išanalizuoti tarpininkaujančio tarp sterilios ir nesterilios aplinkos operacinės slaugytojo (COS) veiklos svarbą. Metodai.

This study explored the content of education provided by nurses to arthroplasty patients and their significant others. Data were collected with the Education of Patients-NURSE content (EPNURSE-Content), Received Knowledge of Hospital Patient (RKhp), and Received Knowledge of Significant Other (RKso) scales. The results showed that the content of education emphasized biophysiological and functional needs, differed between countries, and was related to how physically demanding nurses found their job to be and the amount of education provided. There is congruence between the received knowledge of patients and their significant others in relation to the content of education provided by nurses. The findings can support nurses in developing aid material for patients and significant others explaining the nature of education and advising them what to expec...

The study will also attempt to identify any predicting factors. Arthroplasty is commonly used for an increasing population of patients with osteoarthritis, and the recovery process starts directly after surgery. Today's shorter hospital stay may be a challenge for the patients during the early period of recovery. It is therefore important to identify factors associated with quality of recovery at discharge from hospital. A descriptive, comparative study including 12 hospitals in 5 European countries; Cyprus, Finland, Greece, Iceland and Sweden. Consecutively included patients responded on: health-related quality of life, and emotions before surgery and at hospital discharge; quality of recovery, patient satisfaction and fulfilment of knowledge expectations. Related factors and associations were analysed separately for each kind of arthroplasty. I...

PURPOSE: This study describes information and control preferences of patients with joint arthroplasty in seven European countries, and explores their relationships with patients' received knowledge. METHODS: The data (n = 1,446) were collected during 2009-2012 with the Krantz Health Opinion Survey and the Received Knowledge of Hospital Patient scale. RESULTS: European patients with joint arthroplasty had low preferences. Older patients had less information preferences than younger patients (p = .0001). In control preferences there were signifi cant relationships with age (p = .021), employment in healthcare/social services (p = .033), chronic illness (p = .002), and country (p = .0001). Received knowledge of the patients did not have any relationships with information preferences. Instead, higher control preferences were associated with less received knowledge. CONCLUSION: The relationship between European joint arthroplasty patients' preferences and the knowledge they have received requires further research.

We selected 20 of the most popular types of exercise in Lithuania among respondents who exercise independently or at a gym/health center, and we ranked these types of exercise according to the participants’ emotional intelligence and logical thinking. We studied 4545 women and 1824 men aged 18–74 years with a focus on whether emotional intelligence and logical thinking are related to type of exercise. Participation in any exercise was significantly related to emotional intelligence in men and women. Women in professional sports solved the lowest number of logic tasks. Women who exercise independently or at a gym/health center had better logical thinking than those who do not exercise. Among men, logical thinking was not associated with the type of exercise. ...

However, studies evaluating the quality of nursing care among different patient groups are scarce. Patients undergoing abdominal surgery may be a group that has different views, needs, expectations, and evaluation of the quality of nursing care. Literature search was conducted using the following key words in various combinations in the MEDLINE, PsycInfo, CINAHL, and Cochrane databases: quality of nursing, surgical or perioperative, abdominal or abdomen. The studies that focused on the evaluation of surgical nursing care with a study sample of patients undergoing abdominal surgery and nurses taking care of these patients were included in this scoping review. In total, 17 research articles were analyzed. The analysis revealed that the quality of nursing care was usually rated as high according to the perceptions of patients and/or nurses.

A high number of older patients (Eurostat, 2010a, 2010b, 2010c) treated in continuously increasing short-stay surgery (Eurostat, 2010a, 2010b, 2010c) pose a challenge for healthcare and patient education on both a national and an international level (Euractiv.com, 2008). Short-stay surgery calls for increased self-care on the part of patients after hospitalization as well as education tailored on the basis of their individual information and control preferences and cur-BACKGROUND: The prevalence of joint arthroplasties is increasing internationally, putting increased emphasis on patient education.
