This study aimed to determine the cytogenetical distribution of chromosomal disorders in couples ... more This study aimed to determine the cytogenetical distribution of chromosomal disorders in couples after recurrent early pregnancy loss. Background: One of the most important causes of pregnancy loss found in around half of the first trimester miscarriages is fetal chromosomal abnormalities, the role of fetal chromosomal disorders needs to be better evaluated. Method: This study was conducted at two hospital and private clinics in Duhok, Iraqi Kurdistan from February 2017 to February 2022, and reviewed retrospectively The study included 150patients with history of Recurrent Early Pregnancy Loss were admitted for curettage because of miscarriage in early pregnancy Patients were divided in two group. Results: The study population included a total of 150 fetal tissue specimens obtained during dilation and curettage after the diagnosis of spontaneous miscarriage. Patients were divided in two groups. Group 1 included 95patients with an abnormal embryonic karyotype in the aborted material. Group 2 comprised 55 patients with a normal embryonic karyotype in the aborted products. Patients with a normal embryonic karyotype in the aborted products were significantly younger (p=0.0147). Conclusion: Young patients suffering from repeated miscarriages have a low probability to find chromosomal disorders in the embryonic tissue. Chromosomal analysis should be offered after previous miscarriages before further diagnostic methods are performed.
To study the characteristics of delayed puerperal preeclampsia/eclampsia in women after delivery ... more To study the characteristics of delayed puerperal preeclampsia/eclampsia in women after delivery and its clinical management. This multicenter retrospective study involved analysis of cases diagnosed with delayed-onset puerperal preeclampsia/eclampsia upon readmission, from 48 hours-6 weeks after delivery. Total of 170 women were included in the study, out of which 50 were included in case group, and 120 in control group. The identification of cases was made by using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9). Data were collected by chart review, and the current version of the SPSS software package was used for data analysis. Case group had mostly non-white racial origin women, 16% of whom were found to be smokers with an elevated maternal pre-pregnancy BMI. There was an increased risk factor for readmission in association with gestational diabetes, and 50% in the case group had a C-section for delivery. Greater birth weight is observed in women with delayed puerperal pree...

The aim of this study was to assess the pregnancy rate and outcome of couples with unexplained infertility treated with intrauterine insemination after controlled ovarian hyperstimulation and to evaluate the effect of various prognostic factors.

Summary answer Our results suggest that medically assisted reproduction (MAR) pregnancies are not differentially affected by SARS-CoV-2 infection compared to spontaneous pregnancies. What is known already Information on the effects of COVID-19 on pregnancy after MAR is scarce when women get infected during MAR or early pregnancy, even though such information is vital for informing women seeking pregnancy. Study design, size, duration Data from SARS-CoV-2 affected MAR pregnancies were collected between May 2020 and June 2021 through a voluntary data collection, organised by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE). Participants/materials, setting, methods All ESHRE members were invited to participate to an online data collection for SARS-CoV-2-infected MAR pregnancies. Main results and the role of chance The dataset includes 80 cases ...

The course of rheumatoid arthritis often changes during pregnancy. Objective: The aim of the study was to assess whether pregnant women with rheumatoid arthritis and her baby are at high risk for adverse outcomes. Methods: This a case-control study was conducted at the Duhok Obstetrics and Gynecology Teaching Hospital and Kurdistan Private Hospital in Iraqi Kurdistan between March 2016 and November 2020. The study included seventytwo pregnant women, they were divided into two groups; study group or (Rheumatoid arthritis group) and control group or (Non-Rheumatoid arthritis group). Both groups were compared regarding a baseline characteristics and maternal with neonatal outcomes. The data were statistically analyzed using a software package, current versions IBM (SPSS) Statistic. Results: During the study pe...

Background: Cesarean myomectomy is the term used to describe the removal of fibroids at cesarean section ,most obstetricians are trained to avoid cesarean mymectomy. The aim for this study to determine the success and safety of the cesarean myomectomy and to evaluate the relationship between intra-operative and postoperative complications of the cesarean myomectomy in case of single uterine myomas.
Methods: This case-control study was conducted at the Duhok Obstetrics and Gynecology Teaching Hospital and Kurdistan Private Hospital in Iraqi Kurdistan between February 2016 and May 2019. The study included 61 pregnant women, they were divided into two groups ,Cesarean Myomectomy group and were compared with Cesarean Section group. Outcomes studied were duration of surgery, change in hemoglobin from pre-operative to post-operative period, need for blood transfusion, and duration of hospital stay, post-operative complications and follow up of patients up to 6 weeks postpartum.
Results: During the study period, twenty-one pregnant women successfully underwent cesarean myomectomy and were compared with the control group and included forty pregnant women not having fibroids who underwent cesarean section only. There were no significant differences among the patients in the both groups in terms of baseline characteristics and indications for cesarean section. Duration of surgery was highly significant increased in study group as compared to control group. No complications were noted in either group during this period nor maternal death was reported.
Conclusions: Myomectomy of a single myoma during cesarean section can be considered a safe and advantageous surgical procedure .

The aim of this study was to assess the pregnancy rate and outcome of couples with unexplained infertility treated with intrauterine insemination after controlled ovarian hyperstimulation and to evaluate the effect of various prognostic factors.
Results: In this study 198 cycles of controlled ovarian stimulated intrauterine insemination were analyzed for 110 couples
with unexplained infertility. The overall pregnancy rate in our study was 30.9%.
Conclusion: Ovarian stimulation combined with intrauterine insemination is a cost-effective treatment for couple with
unexplained infertility before jumping into in vitro fertilization, but recommend that couples be informed of all
information about the chances of success as well as the costs and complications of this treatment.
