The lesion shows propensity for maxilla and incisor-cuspid region with female predilection. The etiological factors include local factors causing gingival irritation like calculus, plaque, ill fitting dentures or orthodontic appliances; and hormonal influence, initiate exhuberant connective tissue response. The lesion shows high recurrence potential , necessitating proper identification, treatment and effective long-term recall protocol. This case report presents a relatively rare case of juvenile peripheral ossifying fibroma in relation to mandibular central & lateral incisors in an adolescent female child followed for upto 1 year after surgical excision

Dentinal hypersensitivity is a significant clinical problem encountered in daily dental practice. The management of this condition requires a good understanding of the complexity of the problem, as well as the variety of treatments currently available. The treatment approaches can be either home care products or professionally applied desensitizing agents. The present in-vitro study was designed to investigate the dentinal tubule occluding ability of commercially available nano HA containing mouthwash using FESEM analysis. Methods: In the present in -vitro study, 15 human premolars and canines were taken and sectioned mesiodistally. A total of 30 dentinal samples were obtained. All the dentinal discs were etched with 6% citric acid for 2 minutes. The treated samples were washed thoroughly with distilled water for 30 seconds. Samples were divided in two groups of 15 each. The specimens in Group I were shaken vigorously in the Vitis Sensitive mouthwash for 2 min ...

Role of dentists & injudicious use of antibiotics resulting in antimicrobial resistance is unknown. Therefore a survey was conducted. Aims & Objectives: To assess the types and frequency of antibiotic prescriptions , by dental practitioners in the state of Rajasthan , India. Method: A two page questionnaire was mailed to 525 dental practitioners & the results were assessed. Results: A total of 500 dentists responded to the questionnaire. Discussion: Confusion about prescribing antibiotics & inappropriate prescribing practises , however are reported by dentists (Steed et al 1997). Patients not finishing the prescribed doses , wrong prescription , inefficient tools for diagnosing & preventing drug resistance , lack of Govt. commitment to address these issues are various factors that may affect development of antibiotic resistant microorganisms. (Loesche 1996) Conclusion: Amoxicillin-Clavulunic acid combination was the most preferred antibiotic prescribed by dental practitioners for orodental infections followed by amoxicillin & ofloxacin ornidazole combination. Discrepancies were noted in the prophylactic use of antibiotics , which supports the need for educational initiatives to promote rational use of antibiotics in dentistry.
